PART A
I see an African-American male athlete, LeBron James, standing next to a white female model, Gisele, with his left arm across his waist. They are on the cover page of a famous American magazine, Vogue. LeBron James has a black singlet with black basketball shorts, and he’s got tattoos from his shoulders to his arms. He appears to dribble a basketball while shouting, having a grin on his face. Gisele has a light green dress that’s strapless with a radiant look and has whipped her hair back. LeBron James and Gisele are advertising on shape issues in the article, Sector of the Best Bodies. The magazine is advertising on matters on a perfect fit where there’s dressing for every shape from 0 to 16. The magazine also has articles that talk about diets. The pieces include, You Are (Not) What You Eat, Debunking Diet Myths, and No Exercise Diet.
Part B
The photograph is intended to advertise the benefits of working out and illustrating the issue of body shape and beauty. The people who are interested in athletes and individuals that are obsessed with body shape as written “dressing for every shape from 0 to 16.” LeBron James is holding a basketball ball, and Gisele Bundchen (world’s top model and girlfriend of NFL quarterback, Tom Brandy) are the people featured in the photo. The photo illustrates an energetic, cheerful, happy and satisfied mood as shown by LeBron, who has his mouth wide open and muscles stretched out to symbolize the energy and the contention in the photo. While Gisele is demonstrating a cheerful by the smile, she wears to show the happiness she has. LeBron holds a ball to commemorate athletics. Considering that the is the first person in colour to appear in Vogue magazine, this is one way of celebrating the diversity in the country as well as encouraging physical fitness. Also, LeBron’s reputation in athletes and Gisele’s in modelling is a perfect combination to demonstrate the importance of diet. The photo illustrates the importance of keeping fit by working out and being actively involved in constructive events such as athletics. Also, the aspect of cultural diversity and acceptance across the world is valued in the photograph. Even though the picture is well combined to illustrate several values and beliefs in society. Still, if I were to make changes, I would select a better photograph of LeBron because the current attracts many controversial opinions such as comparing James with the King Kong story, and this brings about racism.
