Antigone

The narrator says that she did not want to be an Antigone, but it happened. In this context, an Antigone means a child born as a result of illegal or incestuous marriage. In this context, Antigone was the daughter of Jocasta and King Oedipus of Thebes. According to the narration, king Oedipus was the son of Laius and Jocasta. After he grew up, Oedipus planed for the death of his father, Laius, and after killing his father, he subsequently became the king of Thebes. Afterward, Oedipus married his mother, Jocasta, and sired children together; thus, Antigone was the daughter and sister to Oedipus. After that, Oedipus discovered that Jocasta and Laius were his biological parents. Out of frustration, Oedipus blinded himself with branches and left the city, and Jocasta committed suicide by hanging himself. Creon, Jocasta’s brother, took over the responsibility of bringing up her daughters, namely Ismene and Antigone, together with her sons, namely Eteocles and Polyneices. This passage explains what she meant by saying that she never wanted to be an Antigone, and from this, we can depict the meaning of an Antigone as a child born out of incestuous marriage.

Create a thesis statement: The thesis statement provides a guideline of what should be covered in the whole paper. It provides the basis of the argument in the entire paper, and it incorporates all the main points that should be discussed in the entire essay.

Outline: An outline helps in the planning of the entire paper. The thesis statement can help in plotting the paper flow and what should be included in the whole paper..

Begin with the body, not introduction: Many people struggle in developing an introduction, so to avoid such difficulties, create an introduction later. This will allow the writer to form ideas and thoughts and integrate them into an attractive introduction.

Begin each paragraph with a topic sentence: This sentence outlines the main idea of the whole paragraph. Each sentence should contain contextual information that will defend the thesis statement and the topic sentence.

Use credible sources: This can be achieved through the use of scholarly sources such as peer-reviewed articles, academic journals, and textbooks.

Don’t fake it: Avoid fluff to bulk your essay; instead, make sure that every sentence adds substance to your paper.

Conclude your essay: The conclusion should begin by restating your thesis statement. A reasonable conclusion should address the main points of every paragraph and prove the thesis statement.

Proofread, then proofread again: Reviewing is essential in every essay because it ensures that there are no grammatical errors.

Such instructions improve the essay, reduce struggles hence making work easier.

Retelling a story: the lottery ticket by Shirley Jackson from Mr. Summers perceptive

When all the families arrived in the town, I addressed them, and afterward, I ensured that I recognized those who did not attend the meeting. I brought the paper box with small paper pieces inside the box. All the family heads were also identified. I was cursed in together with Mrs. Hutchison, and she stated that she could never forget how this day was enjoyable. Most of our audiences seemed to be happy with whatever they were being told. The family heads who missed to attend the meeting were required to give a valid excuse. If a male head was unable to participate in the meeting due to some unavoidable circumstances, as in the case of Clyde Dunbar, his wife was allowed to represent him and take the paper box for their family. Each family member was requested to pick the piece of paper from the box without looking at is. This process of the lottery was carried out in town. The people in the meeting could be heard gossiping about how other towns carry out their lottery process.
