AOTA Occupational Profile template is a system or rather a technique used to gather information of a client based on the evaluated occupational therapy. Each professional profile is unique as the evaluation of the client. This paper examines the occupational profile of a client by the name Alpha, a female gender from the race of Caucasian. Alpha is a mother of two daughters, and she loved playing the piano and as well as cooking. Occupationally, she was a cashier and a bookkeeper before retiring. She is currently living with her daughter due to her condition of left breast cancer.  She has unique characteristics of enjoying hymns, hence keeping her going. There are, therefore, treatment interventions put in place during her treatment intervention as discussed below.

Treatment intervention during the treatment session

Breast cancer considered to be one of the most common diseases that affect the majority of women across the globe. Complementary and Alternative Medicine includes mind-body medicine, manipulative and body-based practices, and natural products, among others. The medicinal products help the patients to feel very relieved though for a short duration. These medicines have used by breast cancer women in alleviating or treating the symptoms. Natural products such as vitamins, minerals, and herbs constitute the most commonly used CAM techniques for people living with breast cancer.

Combined aerobic and resistance exercise

The client should be subjected to exercise programs by combining both aerobic exercise and resistance training to reduce the side effects. Aerobic and resistance exercise intervention should be aimed at two days in a week for a maximum of 12 weeks to improve in CRF, satisfaction with life, and QOL. The Patient should be taken through chemotherapy at an early stage of breast cancer development. These exercise programs should be home-based, thus will result in improved QOL, CRF, aerobic capacity, strength and immune function, and as well as improved CRF.

In what setting will the Patient likely service? Why? Based on the information and context described.

Different specialists and physicians usually provide local surgical and radiation treatment, hormonal therapies, and systematic chemotherapy. Alpha due to her condition should be delivered in an outpatient setting due to the describe exercises that are also home-based. The outpatient state will then increase her aerobic capacity, strength and immune function. The reason why home-based services best suites Alpha are because little is known about how care is being coordinated for the patients that require multi-disciplinary treatments. Thus how complex care is coordinated may affect Alpha’s chance of undergoing the full complement provided by the physician.

What frames of reference may be used during the clients OT treatment sessions, and why?

A frame of reference in occupational therapy provides a baseline for the practical application. A frame of reference constitute theories that guide assessment and evaluation and as well as the form to the practice. The frame of reference is very crucial since it provides the structure used in identifying relevant theories based on the information, outline guidelines used in assessing and giving an interview. The theoretical frame of reference that best suites Alphas should be among the following; theoretical base, function and dysfunctional continua, evaluation, postulates regarding the change, and postulates regarding intervention. Choosing the specific OT involves a useful practice of the therapist’s ability to match a client with the most appropriate frame of reference within the context of a life.

Write one long-term and two short-term goals for the above Patient

Breast cancer has become a disaster in the entire world, resulting in the diagnosis of many women each year.  Healthy eating, active living and emotional resilience are therefore the best long-term goal for Alpha. Lifestyle intervention is needed to enable her to improve health care and prognosis. Diet and physical activities and weight play a crucial role in her survival hence recommended for her. Long-term survival encompasses a total health strategy that consists of a focus based on healthy eating, healthy weight, emotional resilience, and active living. On the other hand, short-term goals for her should be found on the aggressive chemotherapy which monitors the symptoms hence could be prevented at an early stage.

Write a SOAP note for the above client using an activity used during the week

Alpha is a delightful 52-year-old woman with breast cancer. She is enrolled in a clinical trial C40502. She has completed eight chemotherapy with Exempla plus Avastin. First, I thought she might have suffered a perforated septum which can bring a concern with the Avastin. There has been the existence of isolated cases reported of a nasal septum perforation that is believed to be related to the Avastin. She is noted to have a thin septum, but it is intact. I will continue treating her as planned. Her clinic scheduled in the next four weeks.
