Are humans still evolving?

The article “Are humans still evolving?” exemplifies on the controversial topic by stipulating that the evolution would have stopped. However, scientists postulate that evolution has not stopped relative to the rate at which DNA has been evolving. Research shows that DNA is changing faster than before due to genetic mutations caused by continuous natural selection. As such, genetic mutations are likely to be passed to the next generation, thus supporting the idea that humans are still evolving. The genetic mutations increase in frequency, thus making numerous changes into our bodies, thus developing new species of genes into our systems. For instance, survivors of infectious diseases possess unique genes that are passed to the next generation supporting the notion that humans are still evolving. Mutations have majorly been attributed to human’s evolution since unique species created as genes mutate.

Moreover, humans are adapting to the environment hence evident that mutation is still happening in the modern era. Human beings have evolved and adjusted to living in different climatic conditions relative to the frequent upsurge in mutated genes within the human body. Besides, the diet has been attributed as a major cause of human evolution, as evidenced in Inuit DNA. Human adaptations have shown that the DNA trace tends to survive in diets rich in fat to enable adults to produce lactose. As such, genetic evolution would continue since new genes traces keep on being developed by the body due to changes in the environment. However, humans are not expected to evolve into different structures, as evidenced in prior physicality of the early man. This is because natural selection only affects only 8% of the body’s genome to spur the evolution rate.
