argumentative response to article
Your third paper is an analysis in the respect that it asks you to understand an argument made and the nuances of that argument. Please select an essay from one of the essays given during week 12 and 13 to focus your essay. Your job in this essay is to take a position on the subject presented in your essay. Please know that you are discussing the main point of the essay, not a little side point. You are looking at how the author comes to the position taken. Each of these essays states a position. Your job is to engage with that position and extend the argument of the essay. It will not be enough to simply restate what the author has said. Your job is not to summarize the argument. Your job is to participate in a conversation with the author by thinking about the argument made and commenting on it by taking a position in reference to the argument. An easy way to engage with the article might be to either agree or disagree with your author. [unique_solution]I do not want to see the statement “I agree” or “I disagree.” Your argument should make that position clear. Please go back and take a look at the response to “You’re 16” and the “Will and Grace” article. Please note that the discussion is not an empty discussion, but rather, it is fueled by a specific discussion and trajectory of thought. Please remember that your paper is an argument based on a specific argument presented. Your job is to make the argument of the original paper clear, to comment on the argument, and to extend the argument. (You can extend the argument by either agreeing or disagreeing with the authors position.) The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate your ability to form and sustain a concrete discussion about a specific position. In doing this exercise, you need to bring your knowledge of the issue to the discussion. Please do not make up facts about issues. I do not want a research paper, but feel free to do a little reading to prepare you to discuss the issue. Please do not plagiarize what others have said. If you bring the ideas of others to the text, it should be general information, not specific ideas that can be attributed to one person. Please remember that I do not want a summary of your selected article. I would like to see you build on an issue presented so that your presentation becomes an argument in itself. In other words, you must be as specific as possible and as thorough as possible in your response to your primary article; and your response must be arguable. You must present your argument in a thesis (which I would like you to highlight for me). Your thesis must be arguable with a claim and you must validate that claim. Again, I do not want a paper that simply retells an argument. You must have an agenda for your discussion and this agenda must be broadened and deepened as you proceed through your paper. Please do not use second person (you). Please make sure your paragraph are indented with one tab Please do not use questions, unless it is a question taken from your primary source. Please make sure you have a title page and that you start writing on page 1 with no title on that page. Your title page should include the following: name class instructor The title of your essay is placed in the center of the page. (The title of your essay is not the title of your article — and the title page does not count towards your two to three pages of discussion. Please do not put your title in quotation marks.) Please make sure you stop on page three (even if it is just one line on this page). Do not go over page three. 12 font, double spaced Please highlight your thesis so I know what you consider your thesis https://slate.com/technology/2020/04/zoom-happy-hours-online-museum-tours-enough-already.html I chose to this article to give an argumentative response to.
