Asthma and Allergies essay
Asthma is a chronic disease that affects the breathing system of the human being. The breathing system is made up of tubes that carry air in and out of the lungs. Due to that, when one is suffering from Asthma, the breathing system gets swollen. The effects of Asthma in the breathing system cause the contraction of the muscles around then breathing system. It leads to the secretion of mucus, which in turn makes the air tubes narrow, thus making it hard for one to breathe well. On the other side, allergy is inappropriate destruction of the immune system of the body, which happens in only a proportion of the population tom encounter with non-harmful substances like foods or pollen. Allergy reaction is generally classified into five groups that follow a known clinical disease pattern. In connection to that, this paper discusses Asthma and Allergies. These pollens cause sneezing, wheezing, itchy eyes and a runny nose
Asthma is a disease that can be either inherited from family lineage through genes or usually suffer from it like any other disease. There is a significant connection between Asthma and allergy. When one suffers from Asthma, there is a high chance of suffering from allergy because both of these diseases invade the breathing system making it hard to breathe effectively. Asthma in children always starts like an allergy, through exposure to environmental pollutants like pollen from trees, weed, grasses, among others, and dust. Due to that, if the lungs are irritated enough, they can lead to asthma infections. Respiratory infection also causes Asthma through the frequent disease of the respiratory system; very severe viruses usually cause respiratory Asthma. According to the research, Asthma can also be caused by irritants like strong odors from colognes, hair, paint, and perfume. Certain illnesses like sinusitis, flu, and a mild upper respiratory infection may also cause an asthma attack. Extreme weather conditions and intense emotions that change regular breathing pattern. There are various types of allergies; food allergy is the type of allergy that causes a skin reaction. The human immune system helps in keeping the body healthy by fighting off infections. Food allergy reaction mainly occurs when the immune system overacts to food or a substance in a meal. It sends signals about the to the entire body to overreact and treat such kind of food as a danger and trigger the protective response. Like Asthma, allergy is an inherited disease that tends to run through the family. It is not possible in a family to predict which child is going to inherit suck kind of food allergy. Symptoms of the food allergy are not treated at an early stage can worsen and cause more severe to patients.
One of the most dangerous types of allergy reactions is anaphylaxis, which is well known for causing difficulty in breathing. It creates a dramatic drop in the blood pressure hence affecting the rate of the heartbeat. Anaphylaxis allergy is caused by especially protein giving foods like peanuts, eggs, fish, milk, among other foods. Excess intake of these types of foods may cause the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, and respiratory tract issues. They, in turn, lead to stomach cramps followed by excessive vomiting, wheezing, repetitive cough, hives, and even circulatory collapse. Patients suffering from this type of allergy are supposed to reduce the rate of protein taking as directed by the doctors. The patients should also practice healthy eating or lifestyle to avoid issues related to obesity. In the situation when it is diagnosed with obesity, apart from taking medicals, he or she can exercise the body muscle as well. It helps in reducing the high amount of calories in the body.
The skin allergy is the type of allergy that causes red, bumpy, itchy skin, which is irritational painful and embarrassing as well in human beings. Those irritating rashes are caused by various factors like excessive exposure to individual plants. Some people skins to react to a particular food or medication. Nevertheless, it should be noted that some skin rashes may be due to illness like chickenpox, measles, hives, or even Eczema. Both diseases are related to allergies. When patients experience excessive skin, rashes are supposed to seek doctors’ prescriptions.
Hives type of allergy is mainly caused by exposure to an allergen or infection, which causes chronic urticarial diseases, and it leads to red bumps that appear on the body. Allergy infection sometimes differs from the age of the people it attacks. For instance, Eczema allergy is well known as atopic dermatitis. It is a type of allergy that mostly attacks people of age between ten and twenty and a small percentage of an adult as compared to children. Its infections cause fluids in the skin that ooze a clear or yellowish liquid. This type of allergy is mostly inheritable with the family lineage.
Allergy can also be caused by dust, which is triggered by pollen from trees, grasses, weeds, and flowers. People have got a different reaction to allergies; some people may react to pollen and weed, while others may have different reactions to flowers and trees. The immune system of the body is, which depends on the response of the various allergies in the body. Pets are linked with the tendency of causing the allergy in human beings. Animal hair, feathers, and fur are believed to cause allergy in several ways, especially when combined with the household dust. The fur produced by pets is linked with causing the chronic allergy, which late leads to difficulties in breathing. The measure and precautions to prevent allergy fro the pets are to avoid man skin intact with the pets in to prevent inhaling the fur and the hair produced by them. Patients suffering from skin allergy are supposed to seek medical attention before the reaction becomes severe. The skin test is always necessary when handling the issues of skin allergy. The patients are provided with immunotherapy, medication, oral tablets, and also advise on how to change the household routine to avoid future infections.
The body of the people differs in terms of the reactions; some people are affected by the different types of medicine taken, while others are not. People with drug allergies may experience symptoms of whether the drugs offered in terms of injections or liquid or even in tablets form. The patient is, therefore, requested to indicate the type of drugs that do not bring any complication when administered. Drug allergies are associated with skin rashes, swelling wheezing, and breathing difficulties.
Asthma is a respiratory disease, has mainly linked with triggers such as bad air quality, pollution, tobacco, mold, and pollen. Consequently, in the state of Califonia is widely related to asthma emergency due to the rapid deterioration of the Salton Sea and the dust released from considering the sources of the air pollution that makes Asthma more challenging to control in the area. People living near the area suffer like Salton City, Niland, and others experience a lot from chronicle disease due to a low water table, which in turn leads to the dust. People living on the shore of the Salton city suffer a lot from the dust and other allergic related infection caused by the low water table during summertime. On that kind of areas, allergy outbreak becomes typically high when the water level goes down. The dust and other seas emission waste are pushed to the show of the sea, leading to most of the sea inhabitants inhaling those waste products. Most of the families who stay near Salton City are most likely to be affected by this kind of disease. They are expected to suffer from the disease, which leads to shortness of breath, coughing, among other allergies, and asthma symptom diseases due to dust.
There is a close relationship between Asthma and allergy. Both diseases mostly attack the same area. They attack the respiratory system making making it hard for patient to experient breathing difficulties. Treatment is almost the same, only that, the advanced stage of each disease can lead to different treatment. Asthma and allergies are disease that affect the airways of the lungs. In the case of Asthma, the airways linning tend to be in a hypersensitive situation, which is characterized by swelling and redness. The fastidious make the respiratory system react to everything that is exposed to it. Through the aid of the triggers, like cold, stress, change in weather act like the catalyzed of Asthma and allergy. Environmental effects like dust, smoke, and chemicals also cause itching in the respiratory system. They act as the booster for the respiratory complications. Asthma flare-up triggers the respiratory system leading to swelling. It narrows the air space of the respiratory system leading to the swelling of the esophagus. It also causes the tightening and contraction of the respiratory muscles, which in turn leads to breathing problems. Asthma flare-ups make the patient suffer from fatigue, which acts as a great risk for exposure to another severe type of Asthma.
The treatment for allergy is one to look for the substance in the body called immunoglobulin E (IgE) that causes allergies. Immunoglobulin in human beings and animals differs a lot for multiple types of allergens. For instance, cockroach and ragweed do not have any allergens. Through testing, the specialist can tell whether the animal has IgE or not or more than one allergens. Asthma endotypes, an allergy, are the directional mechanisms characterized by two types of immune responses. Th2 cells, eosinophils, mast cells, major cytokines are secreted from immune cells. People suffering from an allergy to their immune system overact to an allergen by producing antibodies. The antibodies produced the move to the cells that release a chemical, making an allergic reaction. The reaction becomes more severe to an extent; it can lead to running nose, breathing issues, throat, and skin itching. If not treated in the early stages can lead to more complicated matters.
In the United States, statistics taken from various health centers show that roughly 8% of people who are above eighteen years and over suffer from hay fever, which is associated with allergic rhinitis. In 2010, statistics indicated that white people are in danger fo being affected by the hay fever the black people. It shows that the skin color is one of the determiners for the allergy. Skin melanin acts as a prove for the harmful sun rays that may lead to skin itching causing disease. According to the research, children are likely to be affected by Asthma and allergy as compared to adults in the United States. Due to the climatic changes, in every ten children, four of them are at a high risk of suffering from Asthma and allergy because of poor weather conditions.
The food plays a big part in causing allergy to both children and adults. They contain a lot of the spices, which in term lead to adverse effects on people. Even though allergy and Asthma being almost the same, allergy is likely to affect those people living in harsh environmental conditions. Excess heat from the sun can cause skin itches. At the same time, some food taken has a different reaction in different people. Asthma is like to be more on cold areas as compared to hot zones. Children are supposed to keep warm because their skin and body antibodies at that age are not active enough to fight against bacterias, causing diseases. A high number of the children die annually due to Asthma the adult. When they are exposed to extream weather conditions, their lungs may suffer from low hemoglobin, which in turn leads to breathing difficulties, and if not treated at an early stage, can become fatal.
Asthma is mostly linked with the diet and obese asthma phenotype; they are attributed to the chronic energy surplus: excessive caloric intake and energy expenditure. The effect of Asthma and allergy varies according to the age of the people. A child is likely to be exposed to those diseases at a very early stage as compared to adults. The immune system of the children is termed to be weak and not like that of adults. In the United States, obesity prevalences are higher in the asthma population. It is believed to affect about 30% of the children and 70% of the adults. The statistics show that children are more prevented from exposure to Asthma and allergy-causing diseases more than adults(Akinbami et al., 356-362). Obesity is associated with a more unfortunate asthma outcome, which includes inferior control methods. The high conception of energy-giving food, fats, and lips are associated with obesity. High intake of the fiber foods is also associated with obesity; hence are people are advised to minimize the consumption of those food substances. The solution to the people suffering from obesity is to control their eating habits together with their lifestyles.
When observing the issues of Asthma and allergy, the environment, and entire the critical factor that led to the spread of Asthma and allergy, on the side, the main factor that leads to the outbreak of Asthma and allergy is then issues of the environmental factors. Allergy and Asthma are more likely to be found in the urban center than in rural areas. In downtown, there are challenges like excessive industries that emit harmful gaseous which affect the respiratory systems. Many people are likely to be exposed to that polluted air and suffer from breathing issues. The air condition in urban is always very polluted as compared to that of the rural areas.
On the other hand, indoor factors are associated with Asthma and factors related to Asthma. The gases affect a lot of people because there is a little number of trees that can clean the air. Ares associated with the mining and exposure of the soils, especially during then dry areas, causes allergy. The epithelial layer of the skin is invaded by the dust which comes into contact with the skin. It causes rashes, inching, and burning effects in the body.
The Genetic factors related to Asthma are those issues that are inborn and are passed from one generation to another. Those kinds of problems are from family lineage and affect many generations in one lineage. People for the families associated with allergy and Asthma are required to visit medical centers to check their health status. If there is any sign related to those type of disease can be given immunization to prevent future infections (Riiser & Amund, 35).
Recent research has indicated that Asthma and allergy can be treated using many ways as prescribed by doctors. The eating habit of the human is the paramount factor that one can adapt to preventing disease alerted to breathing issues. Some food taken by the human is the main causative agents of allergy diseases. Nowadays, the role of the food in chronic disease, include the cardiovascular, type twp of diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and even cancer. Patients can prevents such kind of the disease by observing the diets they take. Food is the key factor influencing the development of allergic diseases. Most people who suffer from allergy are likely to have taken a particular type of food substances that are not compatible with their bodies and digestion system as well. Patients can improve their ways of preventing allergy and Asthma by being choice in their types of food they take. The personal life of the people can not be judged, but the current research shows that lifestyle is the main causative agent for Asthma and allergy.
There is some preventive mechanism that should be taken into consideration. The patients are supposed to stay away from pollen when the season for such dust comes. Through this, they can opt to close windows. Will help in preventing the way they avoid getting in touch with the air they breathe. They can practice the use of air conditioners with the clear air filter. During the time of humidity, patients are supposed to keep worm to avoid breathing problems. In the house condition where the humidity is very high, they led to the growth of the mold, among other dust that leads to the breathing complication.
In conclusion, Asthma and allergy, as discussed above, are diseases that are caused by various factors. They are believed to be caused by genetic and other environmental factors like pollen, fur, and some of the foodstuffs. The preventive measures given by the doctors should be followed well. Those people who stay in the dust invaded areas should always take the precautions necessary for healthy living. People living in urban areas should make sure they are practices healthy lifestyles. Failure to that, they are likely will suffer from Asthma due to the kind of lifestyle they are exposed to.
