Family is the most basic unit of socialization across the globe, and it plays a crucial role in the growth and development of the child. Family is the first institution where the child acquires basic things that affect them in later life. Family is significant in shaping the kind of child any parent or the guardian will have in the future. This is because the children are born blank plate in their minds it is the environment which fill the information, skills values and the characteristics of the children. What gets in to their minds are what they learn from the environment through observation of the people around them. Things that children learn from their environment have long term effects in their life since it determines who they behave, the values they have attitude among other aspects of life. Bad family environment impact children growth in negative ways because this environment is not conducive for the children to acquire right morals and mental development. Examples of the bad family environment include divorced parents, family characterized with the violence against children or the fighting of the parents, children who are brought up by one of parents because of either death or the other factors like imprisonment. Such environment adversely impacts the kind of the person those children will be in future. Many of the children brought up in these families do not have stability future because of the instability and less care they were given when they were young

There are several aspects of the family environment which impacts children growth and development some of these factors include the following: Parents’ education level, The status of children in the family, What is the relationship between parents, Do parents have plans for their children and how do they encourage them, Family financial status among others.

Parent’s education is one of the main factors which influence the kinds of the children they will have in future. For the educated parents with college or campus level of education they better understand how the children grow and guide them to become good citizens. They teach their children better values like important of education respects to the others. Many of them taken their children to betters so that they have the best education which is critical to shape their lives. On the other hand, the parents will low levels or no education background their children are brought up bad ways which will influence them negatively. Many of them do not instill disciple and values of hard work their children. The children are let to grow on their way without much of their parent attention.

This go hand in hand with the financial status of the family parents who are more educated have better financial status in the American society compared to those who are not educated. Children of the parents with better financial status are more likely to express better mental development since many of them are taken to best schools where they taught by best teachers on how to become good adults in future. Parents with high financial status ensure that their children have everything they need for the social support, they finance them to have fun and visiting best places which is important in social, cognitive development. On the other hand, for the poor parents their children are stressed up because of the lack of important social needs such as foods, clothes among others. Children from the poor background experience emotional abuse since most of the time the parents do not spent time with them. To the high standard of living in United States of American these parents have to work extra time so that they can provide foe their families. These children learn from their peers and the streets due to absence of their parents who are mentors. Such children will not acquire moral values of better person in future

The relationship of the parents is another important factor which influence how the children with grow up. Good relationship between parents will give a good feeling to children. It impacts the mental development of the children. This is an ordinary phenomenon that bad relationship between the families brings the negative impacts on mental development of children and forces him to be lonely. The child who have been brought by parents who are living together hand they good relationship will have better mental development and healthier life compared to those brought up to ones in separated or divorced families.

In addition to that is the plans the parents have for their children, financially stable parents and educated ones will have good plan before having children. This means that there are available resources which have been set aside to cater for the needs for their children. These types of the parents plan the number of the children they will have and spacing between them.

Lastly is the characteristics of the children each of the child is different from one another so its paramount for the parents to know that within their environment. Many children in the school are very different. One of the children I observe is lonely and she cannot get close to other children. Then I want to find the reason and ask her question. Then I know, her parents cannot accompany her at home and most of the time on the weekend, she lived with her grandparents. So, her parents spend less time on accompanying her is one main reason. Their parents have to work overtime because they have two children and they have to earn money to plan for their future. In addition to that some of the differences among children are caused by the differences in DNA makes ups some of the characteristics and behaviors of the children are inherited from their parents and nothing more can be done to change these things which have been inherited from their parents.

Solutions

There are number of the proposed solutions which can be instilled in the children to ensure they grown as good and reliable people in future. Family is the most basic environment where the children learn while they are young, despite the fact that some of the family environment my impacts the young children negatively there a number of things which can be corrected so that the children can grow up to be the people the parents want. The following are just a few of them: the parents are supposed to be the role model to their children, since the parents are the grown in the family both the mother and the father are should show the young children the best ways of living , this is because the children copy whatever their parents are doing. Some of the good values that the parents are supposed to show to the young children include: being honest, fairness to the rest of the people they meet, being kinds, importance of knowledge among other desirable characteristic. It’s important for the parents to teach the children that no one is perfect in this world and they are supposed to work on their weakness and understand human will always makes mistaken. This will have good impacts and the children will appreciate who they are regardless of where they are brought up whether in rich or poor environment.

Balancing between the work and family will also be important solution to bad family environment which will impacts the children positively. The parents are supposed to ensure that they have enough time with their children so that they can learn how they are doing at the school and also in their social life. The time taken for free the parents should be fun time with their children so that they can teach who to treat others and also behave in different environments. The children spending good times with their parents having fun together like going for outing will have more relaxed mind and sober when approaching important things. Even when they grow up these children will have these characteristics of good person since what they learn while they are young, they will never forget it will be always part and parcel of their lives. The parents are supposed to taken free time for fun at the same time so that children can learn from both rather than having one parent all the time. This together will produce good and reliable children in future (Leigh, 2015).

Discipline for the children is another important solution to the bad family environment; the parents are expected to ensure that the children are behaving in the right ways through constant monitoring and limits of negative behaviors of the children. The parents or the guardian of the children are supposed to ensure that have the rules of the house so that the children can grow knowing these rules and regulations which they are supposed to obey. Once the children go against the norms of the of the house there are supposed to be punishment through withdrawing of some of the basic privileges like watching of the television among others, this way the children will know that indiscipline or violations of set rules and regulations have negative consequences on their freedom. This will be good learning environment for the children since it serves as the training ground for them while they are growing up. However, it’s important to note that the rules in the house should not fixed at the time. They should be flexible enough to accommodate the children in more effective ways. Once certain rules and regulations are not working as expected it’s important for the parents to adjust them for desired features.

For the children to have desired behavior and values the parents and the guardians are supposed to be good and effective communicator. The parents are supposed to talk to children and teach the good values they are expecting them. Children are not angels they need to be taught things which are important in the family so that they can know learn and practice good things in general. Communication is critical in ensuring that children ideas are put in considerations since parents should make involved decisions on how they want their children to grow up.( Experts, K. M. 2019).
