Vladimir de Jesus is described in the article as being both prototype and outlier due to some of the qualities he possesses. He is being described as a prototype college student since, personally, he perfectly represented all the qualities that most students of community college have. That is, he emanated from a financially challenged family and persuaded courses were that were most popular among students like arts and was in a great need for comprehensive remediation. Furthermore, he is described as an outlier student since he was endowed with an immense passion for philosophy and arts that have acted as his motivational drive to the entire course.
Barriers to Consistent Attendance
Some of the barriers to inconsistent attendance among community college students are child-rearing, work, and commuting time. Most students at the community college are adults, and some of them have families.
