Biography Writing Rubric
Mastering
- Grammar: One or two mistakes, sentences structure is varied throughout, all tenses are correct, for the most part.
- Spelling: No spelling mistakes
- Word choice/Vocabulary: Very little repetition in word choice. Obvious use of Sophisticated word choice.
- Structure: Very organized, easy to follow, logical progression of the “story.” Each idea/action/important event has its own paragraph.
- Voice:Writer’s voice is obvious, you can “hear” them speak while you read the work. Humor is used when appropriate, and the overall fee; is genuine to the reader. The author’s personality is evident.
- Connection to curricular competencyPersonal awareness & responsibility: Writer makes obvious and thoughtful connections to the competency.
