Bullying is a behavior that is accompanied by an imbalance of power repetitively (Smith). Bullying in schools has increased at a very high rate in the last years, where some of the students at school feel overpowered than their colleagues. Bullying usually occurs in many ways, and it can be childhood bullying, prison bullying, adult life bullying, and school bullying, which is the main focus of this paper in particular. This research paper provides information about the causes of bullying in schools, consequences, and appropriate solutions that can be used to reduce school bullying. To mention a few causes, the desire of the students’ to dominate in the peer group and the fear to be rejected by others when they don’t engage themselves in bullying.

According to (Rigby and Ken p.586),the consequences of bullying usually affects the victims. Victims tend to lack social skills, and they are rejected in the peer group; they also suffer from depression that hinders them from developing freedom in their lifetime because depression can be of long-term effects.Rigby and Ken (p.586) also suggested that copying of strategies like avoiding, ignorance, and many other negative behaviors that are generally undesirable in society. One of the ways of preventing bullying is that adults should be authoritative and bear the responsibility to guide the students; also, teachers should advocate for proper guidance and counseling of students at school(Rigby and Ken). Development of the anti-bullying virtual learning environment at schools is also another way of preventing bullying in schools, and it should be initiated in all schools to curb this menace of bullying (Smith).

Bullying is a behavior that is accompanied by an imbalance of power repetitively, and it has harmful consequences to the victims. Bullying in school is a crucial area that extensive research and practice need to be done for quite some time to develop appropriate solutions to improve the well-being and happiness of the students. Students, parents, and teachers need to commit themselves more to overlook the social skills of the students as well as their behaviors to ensure that they develop responsible people in society..
