Can you imagine the author’s spirituality as a useful model for a contemporary setting, or in your context; why or why not?
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, in his book Life Together, is a reflection on his perspective regarding the Christian community. His thinking towards the contemporary setting is quite useful since it equips Christians with ample knowledge concerning the way they should live their lives with each other in a Christian community.
I believe that Dietrich was a true believer through the way he explores the characteristic concerning the way of Jesus. His advice to all Christians states that they should adhere to obedience since that what Christ requires from them as well as being our brother’s keeper in advising each other against disobedience (p. 96).
Dietrich also advocates for togetherness in our daily activities for both individuals and the community. I support his argument of whether one loves communism or solitudes, all are aspects that shape human life. I love the way he explains that Christians should embrace both since none can survive without the other, thus shunning the act of self-centeredness (p. 40). Therefore, I believe that he was advocating for love among people since Christ also proved love through his communism with his disciples.
In my perspective, I believe that Dietrich was so much concerned with uniting people where he acted as an example through his seminarians. Therefore, Life Together works best in the contemporary setting since it proves that the Christian community serves best when people stop being self-centred and unites through love, just like Christ did with his disciples.
