Career Abstract(Flight Attendant)
Flight attendants offer services to both the commercial and private airlines under the Air transportation industry. They have the duty of providing the passengers with beverages, ensure that the passengers in the airline are comfortable, safe, and secure. Through offering personal services, a flight attendant is expected to greet, verify tickets, explaining the use of safety equipment to the passenger. The hiring of the occupation is on a competitive basis since the market is competing for the best. Thus the best get picked.
Flight attendant educational qualification is only a minimum of a high school diploma or any equivalent qualification. The nature of the work demands a physically fit person able to withstand long hours of standing working in close quarters and has no problem with being away from home for a longer time. However, it is a must for a flight attendant to complete company-sponsored training programs and has certification from the federal aviation Administration. These training equip the flight attendants with the ability to deal with every passenger through learning the operations and protocols of airlines, which are different. The certification, however, is issued for specific planes and requires another certification if they need to work in a different plane and attend the frequent practice tests from the FAA.
The occupation has many opportunities, evidenced by its projected growth of 10% from the year 2018- 2028. The average salary of the job is approximately $56,000. The possibilities for the job will increase by 17,600 vacancies in the United States. Still, the positions face stiff competition from the many applicants available due to the high demand for the services by commercial airplanes increase.
