Career choosing problem is the client’s top priority issue that has been identified, and it relates to self-due to more knowledge. Thus career counseling is very significant as it will enable one to find a direction towards career development. Career counseling is the guidance designed to help oneself in the path of choosing a career at a given stage in life.
Contextual and labor market factors do influence the career choosing problem of an individual. Labor market information is a resource that tends to provide sufficient data for the client on the current information like job trends, skills the employees are looking for, industries and sectors that are hiring, location of the jobs as well as job growth. By using the resource data, we will be able to identify the careers that are on-demand and do not have future uncertainties. The resource is very significant to the client since it provides sufficient information on the factors that tend to influence the labor market like the economy, supply, and demand, population, technological advances as well as seasonal fluctuations.

When the client is thinking about the problem of choosing a career, several factors do ring in mind, which include job descriptions, skills, education .salary, and overall career outlook. As well have the responsibility of having close interaction with the client through work by researching the right career as well as locating the relevant resources that are required for the job desired. Also, as a counselor, I must critically evaluate the corporate skills of the client and suggest personality improvement, which enhances all-round development.
Various strategies are essential to the client in turning career data to career information to make it easier to solve the problem. For instance, developing a therapeutic relationship with the client by forming a meaningful connection through career aptitude tests and personality tests. This is to help in understanding the client’s issues like fears, interests, and desires; hence it will enable the counselor to provide sufficient support and guidance. Definition of goals is a strategy that redirects clients towards the purpose they need to achieve, and it’s by asking questions of the perfect job and focusing on what the client enjoys accomplishing in life, maybe after five year period.
Self-exploration strategy is essential as it creates room for the client to give more information about their issues, especially those affecting career choices. It involves a policy of self –discovery hence the creation of an avenue for self-reflection. Through the data, then it can be transformed into meaningful information for career choice.
Clear Understanding of the job market it’s a strategy that must be implemented by staying abreast of the issues facing the current job market. More attention must be paid to outsourcing, global competition, and specific careers that are of demand in the market. Working with the client is a perfect strategy to enable them to have an understanding of the technology, accept diversity as well as maintain career development awareness.
They are helping the client think outside the box since sometimes the clients do have a mixed feeling on the career to choose, and in such cases, a counselor may use a strategy of even making field trips with the client to come up with career ideas. As well, counselors use an approach of rating careers on a scale of 0 to 10 as the client has to read off possibilities for the client to rate to assess the best job of choice.

Career Counseling is crucial in career development course as it enables an individual to have an insight of the pros and cons of different streams, courses and career path offer hence one makes an informed decision and can get a detailed career assessment to avoid the risk of change in career later in life. A counselor has the responsibility of giving guidance to the client after a more in-depth evaluation to ensure a perfect match of the profession with the skills and interests of the client.
