Case Study Analysis
Directions:
Case Study Analysis: Management science and business analytics is a subject that is just as applicable in the classroom as it is in our everyday lives. The goals of this assignment are to: (1) improve your awareness of current events that occur during the semester and relate to both our class discussions and the overall mission of this course, and (2) communicate your case analysis through summary notes and an oral presentation. Managerial decision-making usually involves a blend of solid quantitative analytical tools and subjective qualitative aspects, and both should be covered in this presentation.
For this assignment, you are to select from the following:
- Current event article in the media that relates to business analytics (article dated between January 1, 2020 – March 3, 2019).[unique_solution]
My Current Event Article is:
The finished products of this case study analysis will be professional-quality summary notes. The details of these products are as follows:
- Summary Notes. Please prepare an organized information outline that summarizes the overall case study analysis (using the outline presented below). The goal is to concisely summarize the key aspects from each section in the outline, while recognizing that the reader may not have the quantitative background that you now possess. These summary notes will correspond with your presentation slides (see below), but are not meant to be a script of your presentation (i.e., please elaborate during your presentation and do not read these summary notes as a script). You may write these summary notes using neatly written bullet points in an outline format, but please use full sentences and correct grammar.
The general flow of the Summary Notes should include the following:
- Summary:Summarize the major point(s) of the case study.
- Relevant Course Points:Discuss specifically how course topic(s) are relevance to the case study.
- Qualitative Decision Factors, Implementation Considerations, and Ethical Issues:Quantitative model results help with decision-making, but there are other factors that we need to consider before making managerial decisions. Please discuss any qualitative decision factors, challenges and potential organizational impacts of implementing the results from the business models, and any potential ethical issues associated with the case study.
- Final Insights:Now that the case study has been summarized and linkages made to course concepts, include your own thoughts regarding the case. For example, were the decisions ones that you agree or disagree with? Should the organization make any changes in this area?
