- Do you think it would be unusual for a manager such as Lee Cockerell to spend a significant portion of his time motivating his employees? Explain.
No. It is because, as Cockerell has stated, having the rightful and great employees would ensure the success of an organization. That kind of employee gets formed and retained through excellent leadership skills that include motivations.
- Which of the needs on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs could delivering exceptional customer service at Disney satisfy? Why?
Physical needs, because Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a psychological, motivational theory. It is composed of five human needs models, mostly portrayed as ranked stages in a pyramid. Requirements found at the bottom should always get satisfied before attainment of top levels. The needs from bottom to top include; Physical needs that include food, water, rest, and warmth, care needs to be made up of security and safety, belongingness and affection requires usually composed of intimate relationships and friends, reverence needs that include status and sensation of fulfillment, and lastly self-actualization which is the top most level and it all revolves over attaining an individual’s full ability, including imaginative events.
- Is it possible for Cockerell’s efforts to succeed in motivating workers yet be detrimental to organiza- tional success? Explain.
No, this is because the workers will be well motivated, hence they will work with a common goal of doing good for the organization. as Cockrell states, motivating workers in an organization will result to the shift of the company from a good company to a great company. By achieving this, the organization will be successful rather than harmed. Also as Cockrell states, employees are the brand of the company whether the company has exceptional products and services.
