Session Notes:
Harry is a fifteen-year-old black male; his school counsellor sent him to me as he used to hit his classmates and write a female classmate’s name on his wrist. He went to the court and ordered to get proper professional help. He is living with his mother and born without wedlock among his parents. I thoroughly read his case study, which unveils many depressing facts, such as her mother arrested due to physically assault his father for not paying money. She was also admitted to the rehabilitation centre due to her anger issues, and placed in the foster house with five other children. He belongs from a poor black family, and his mother is working in a superstore. I have called her mother before the session to bring his previous school records to get more information in this regard.
Session Notes:
Session One:
Harry came to me with his mother; he looked disconnected and not talking to his mother. She tried to hold his hand, but he refused her by pushing her hands. He had dark circles around his eyes, and his pale skin told me the whole story of his health. I asked him to tell his name for thrice a time, then he said to me about the name, a name without a surname. I realized that this case would be a challenging case for me as that boy was not interested in talking to me. After a big struggle, he gave me some necessary demographic information about his school and family. During the question-answer session, he continually looked at her mother with hard looks, she tried hard to calm him, but he showed that he did not like her mother. When I asked about his father, he said: ” he has many girlfriends, he has money but not for me”. I asked him to refrain from that sort of comment as God mage parents to love and respect, instead of using that sort of feedback. He yelled, ” My mother and father both have partners; they do not need me”. My mother’s boyfriend regularly came to our house and took all the money from her. Sometimes. I slept with a hungry stomach just because of her fantasy“. Her mother, Alica, was looking at the floor during this discussion. It was hard to make positive connections with Harry as he looked angry from the whole world. I discussed Mathematics and Robots as he was interested in becoming a scientist. I asked him about different scientists and their contribution. He told me each and everything correctly with exact dates. Harry’s knowledge in this regard made me confident about his cognitive skills. Later on, I explained to him about the A.P.A report and filled the response form and administrated the A.P.A.report. He told me that his father was a womanizer, he used his mother for his pleasure, and A throw her from his house as she started asking for the money. I did not provoke him to tell me more about his father, as the extreme anger and rage seen on his face. I explained to him that his mother loved him, she occupied as she was a single mother, I urged Harry to understand his mother’s stance as it is challenging to play both father’s and mother’s role. He was silent, heard me, then suddenly he said: “she has no time for me”. I calmed him by underscoring the hardships and struggles of a single mother. I closed our meeting in prayer.
Session Two:
My next meeting was better than the last one, Harry greets me while he was sitting on the chair, and I gave him hi-five to make him more comfortable and relaxed. I asked Harry to pray. He looked at me without any expression, which told me that he was not able to do this thing. I helped him, and he prays with us, he promised me to practice these verses at home. I initiated the session by explaining the different temperaments of his personality. I explained to him differently typed of attitudes. After this explanation, I told him that he is a Phlegmatic Choleric in Inclusion, that means he is intelligent, detail and task-oriented and he is also proficient in organizing things or management. I asked him to tell me about his best friend; he said to me that I do not have any best friend as his all friends were cranky and do not want him to join their group of friends. He said, “They do not want me, and I do not want them either”. He told me that he was trying to impress his friends to write the name of his classmate, Alice on his hand. Which caused ambiguities among parents and teachers and raised concerns about the safety of their children as he always kept razer in his bag. He said his mother also ct her waist when she did not get a job. He blamed that his parents made him angry as they both always scold and accuse him of no reason. He shared that his father also beat him because he asked for the money.
Harry willingly took part in the prayer. I gave him come Bible excerpts which shows God’s eternal love of Harry and asked him to read them by heart. .I conclude the session with prayer.
Session Three
Harry looked calmed and composed today and warm shake his hand with me, he told me that he read the Bible, in which he found out answers of several panicking questions about his existence. He said, “I always wonder that why God created me as my parents did not want a baby”. Harry’s statement brings tears in his mother’s eyes, she interpreted him said; “Darling, you are my life”. Harry was looking at the table and shouted, “So why Mr Henry came to our house, I think he is your life, I am just an unwanted burden on you”. I interpreted them to avoid any uncertainty in my office. I asked Harry “So, what did you find in it”. He said, “I think God created me because he loves me and wants me to help his other creates”. After Harry’s statement, I explained to him that God is the big creator, while his parents are small creators, and he should respect him as their disobedience means God’s rebellion. I am glad to Harry’s positive approach to God, and H wants to strengthen his relationship with him. I requested him to make positive strides with his parents, and he nodded his head which made me realized that he only wanted to seek their attention, that is why he is doing that sort of unusual thing. I gave him some more scriptures and closed the session with prayer.
Session Four
Harry came to my office with a little smile. I observed that he had small talks with his mother, which made her happy. Harry told me that he called his father and asked about history health and received a good response from him, which made him happy. I explained to Harry that he is Melancholy in Affection that he is less expressive and hated when his mother held his hand in public. However, her female classmate hugged him after the successful group work, and that Hug made him excited. He preferred to hide his feelings as he thought that this behaviour mill made him a little aggressive or created his angry image in front of his peers. I asked him, “Why did you beat your friend?”. He replied, ” He wants my girlfriend”. I asked, Are you talking about Alice”, and he said “Yes”.I explained to him that this is normal if, he finds Alice beautiful as a crush, but beating someone is not ethical as it ruined his image in front of God and his peers, and might be Alice did not like that. He quickly responded to Alice’s name and promised to keep away from this kind of thing. I observed that he smiled at Alice’s name, which shows his positivity and love for her. I encouraged him to forgive his parents and friends as God loves those who love humanity. I gave him some more Scripture and asked him to read and absorb the words of the Bible, we closed our session by prayer.
Session Five
On Harry’s last meeting, he came a little early with both of his parents, I met his father for the first time and looked superconscious about Harry. He asked many questions about his mental health and overall well-being. He blamed Harry’s mother for not taking care of his son. I explained to him that Harry was a unique child as he had aggression issues. He was a super confident teen, with an aggressive nature, and this is common in teens. However, he needed counselling to restore his belief in God. Harry’s parents seemed sorry and promised to keep him happy. They decided to marry and start a family to look after Harry. Harry sounded delighted and satisfied. I told Harry that this has happened because he loved God. God rewarded him with beautiful parents. At the end of the session, I saw happy tears in their eyes. I thought that God made me a medium to bring a family together. We conclude our meeting by prayer.
Conclusion
I am glad to see positive results in Harry; however, is busy routine does not allow me to do that. His fear of rejection from his parents is perished, which made him a positive person. The core reasons for Harry’s behavioural issues were his parents’ behaviours. I pushed him to read Bible Excerpts which made positive results in his life. His closeness to God bring his parents together, which is the most rewarding thing for him. Harry’s mother called me to inform me about Harry’s mental state. She said that he is settled now and made good strides with his peers. He also performed well in his mock tests and teachers are looking forward to better results. She told me that Harry is still reading the Bible and discussed it with her.
