Critique of the article Offender Profiling and Investigative Psychology DAVID CANTER Offender profiling is a topic that has been well researched. And it is also well known to the general public because of how it is represented and portrayed in movies, media, the news, and TV shows. However, the reality regarding offender profiling is far beyond the general conception, and that is why it is often misunderstood and misinterpreted (Ainsworth 28). Even though the topic of offender profiling has been well researched and developed in some cases, profiling has its distinct limits (Petherick et al. 46). Offender profiling has often been under strong critics due to its lack of accuracy and evidence, as well as a lack of empirical research. Since there is so much to say regarding the topic, this paper critique and compare two articles. The Offender Profiling and Investigative Psychology DAVID CANTER and Criminal Psychological Profiling: Validities and Abilities by Richard N. Kocsis. The purpose of this text is to take a deeper and closer look at profiling, as presented in the two articles. Critique of the…

My SMART goal My SMART goal is to avoid eating high-calorie food, eating plenty of vegetables and fruits as well as doing regular exercise. I have managed to achieve part of my weekly goals. I increased my vegetables and fruit intake. I took fruits every morning for the last four days and every evening during the previous five days. I have also managed to jog for almost one kilometer for three days in the previous week.  I can, therefore, say that I achieved my SMART goal through motivation. The need to stay fit played a critical role in motivating me. I thought that jogging is tiresome. I strained the second day, but I felt that because it was my first day. The soreness of my muscles discouraged me from jogging the second day. I felt also like the results would not appear as quickly as I expected and that it would be a long journey and sacrifice to achieve my goals. I focussed on the benefits despite the negative thoughts. Concentrating on the positive thoughts made me feel that the…

Mechanisms by Which Change in Climate Affect Coral Reefs Abstract The literature below demonstrates the impact of climate change on coral reefs and the mechanisms by which variation in climate affect the community of coral reefs. The research also discusses factors such as ocean temperature, competition, and growth performance. These factors have effects on the growth and reproduction of the coral reefs.  A particular range of temperatures supports its growth.  Therefore, when it is exceeded, the growth of coral reefs is affected significantly. The favorable range of temperature promotes sufficient circulation of oxygen.  The literature also discusses the effects of warmth in the marine life ecosystem.             Key Words: Coral Reefs, Climate Change, Marine Life Ecosystem, Temperature, Acidity Introduction Coral reefs involve biodiversity that is found in the ocean ecosystem and the source of the diverse and productive organic marine life. The biodiversity forms a small fraction of the surface of the earth. They are found at the shores and floor of the ocean. Studies demonstrate that coral reefs impact both marine life and other organisms that live in the…

Self-reflection: (COVID-19) Coronavirus disease, also known as COVID-19, is a respiratory sickness that has flu-like symptoms (Zeng, 2019). The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared COVID-19 a global pandemic and has urged all nations to work effortlessly together in fighting the outbreak. The first case of COVID-19 was reported in Wuhan city in central China, but up to now, the outbreak has spread to all continents with Europe being affected the most. Whereas the outbreak has been contained in China, we have to self-reflect on the effects of COVID-19 in our day-to-day lives. According to the Chinese social workers association, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupts the daily routine of doing activities with social workers being affected the most. One of the significant problems that social workers all over the globe have to address is the scramble for available resources such as toilet papers, soaps, sanitizers, and other amenities (Williams, 2020). The rigorous shopping process makes it difficult for other people, such as the elderly, to access necessities. Despite the on-going shopping theatrics, some social policies are trying to calm things back…

HDB has been established within Singapore as a housing development authority and developed to satisfy staff requirements in terms of width, responsibility, and moreover.   To order to achieve our positive change through HDB business operations, we will need to understand the different goals of our companies because our society drives us. 1.1 Definition of the project The organization has been facing significant obstacles for improving progress in its activities in recent decades. Consumer survey The internet constitutes an enormous part of people’s daily life, that is, from communicating to friends, carrying out research, and shopping online. The increased use of the internet with the advance in technology has affected how information is gathered and stored (Klein, 2004). The information collected from internet users, although governed by the customer’s data protection, its safety is not guaranteed. In 2018, Facebook was among many organization which faced a massive security breach that exposed accounts of over 50 million users’ worldwide (Frenkel et al., 2018). This situation shows how large entities confirm individuals’ fears over their privacy. Individuals who use the internet have a reason to be concerned about their privacy when carrying out various activities since the safety of their crucial information is not guaranteed. The example used shows that even the large organization which have better and sophisticated security systems cannot secure individuals data. Most institutions store their data in the clouds, and the government is also adopting this new storage system. Every citizen is in the government database, and with the adoption of…

Constitutional Amendment What is the topic based on? How is it important? With the COVID-19, the disease resulting from the Coronavirus, now being declared a global pandemic, economists are getting concerned about the impact of the epidemic on the American economy. In the last couple of weeks, the U.S has witnessed a record high number of citizens who have lost active employment following the calls to allow people to work from their homes (Goolsbee, 2020). Not only has this led to a significant number of unemployment cases in the U.S, but also limiting physical interactions has led to decreased activities such as sporting activities that would otherwise generate income. These contribute to the adverse economic impacts on the U.S. Additionally, the closure of Chinese firms has rendered the majority of manufacturing companies in the U.S dormant with little or no materials to work with (Goolsbee, 2020). This has not only lowered commerce in the U.S but has also led to the indefinite closure of some of these firms, meaning reduced income in terms of taxes and levies. Therefore, COVID-19 threatens…

An overview of ergonomics in aviation Scientifically, ergonomics is considered a process of designing products, systems, and workplaces to fit individuals who use them. In America, it is regarded as a discipline in science used to learn human limitations and abilities, then utilize the knowledge to improve people’s interaction with systems and products. In aviation, ergonomics and human factors are considered essential elements for instilling efficiency and safety of commercial airlines, military operations, and the well-being of the passengers. However, the concept of ergonomics goes beyond aircraft to other regulatory bodies, maintenance and traffic control, and other policies concerning the aviation industry. In contemporary society, better approaches have emerged to evaluate the activities performed by individual pilots, the aviation systems, and other emergent properties. Ergonomics is classified into three categories, including cognitive, organizational, and physical ergonomics. Therefore, the research will evaluate the three categories, give examples of each, and poor design of each that caused massive accidents. An overview of ergonomics in aviation With the vastly growing technological advancements, the aviation industry has immensely manifested the need to consider ergonomic…

problem facing Canada and critiques the solution proposed by the prime minister through the lens of contentious issues Introduction Amendments that take place from a political perspective of a country could create moments where part of the population may not admire the changes that are made within either the constitution or other relevant policies and regulations outlined by various states. These changes are, therefore, escalated by specific issues that work towards tackling a more significant problem that the whole country could be facing. Canada is among those countries that work towards having new policies that aim at protecting it from any future terrorist activities or even threats. The article by Thomas Mulcair, Tom Mulcair: It Is Crucial That Anti-Terrorism Measures Do Not Erode Fundamental Freedoms,” the author explains the changes that are brought about by the new amendments that would be made to curb the issue of terrorism in Canada.[1] The Prime minister of Canada is making it hard for the people of Canada by giving them a choice to choose between their freedom or rights, which is not something…

Reflection of the Writing Process for “Parsing Sweat” by Zora Neale Hurston In February, I began reading about the challenges that African Americans faced in the 20th century as part of a celebration of the Black History Month, a time for recognizing the achievements and the struggle of black people. In the process, I came across Zora Neale’s short story. I chose to study the book because it depicts the physical abuse that most African American women still face in the 21st century. Before writing the review, I engage in a prewriting process, entailing taking notes on the main thesis and arguments in the book. This process helped generate ideas for the review. The drafting phase was an opportunity to connect ideas and arguments in the book. In this phase, I wrote the review with no attention to spelling. Irawati supported this strategy when she argued that drafting is a time for a writer to sketch out the arguments and ideas. In this regard, I started by writing the introduction to provide the direction for the review. Upon completing the…
