Namibian Horses Introduction The Namibian Horses, also known as the Namib Desert horses, are a breed of feral horses that reside in the Namib Desert in Namibia. They are unique because they could be the only wild group of horses found in Africa. Their population range lies between 90 and 150.  They are usually dark in color and manage to remain in good condition despite the arid environment that surrounds them. However, during severe drought, they become affected, and some die as a result of the extreme conditions. Origin Scientists have performed several genetic tests to try and determine the exact source of these horses. However, none of them have been able to point out the origin of the horses conclusively. Therefore, researchers have put forward several theories to try and explain their origin. The most common argument that is in circulation indicates that they may have originated from horses lost during colonization and First World War activities in the early 1900s (Greyling, Cilliers & Van Hamburg, 2007). Their supposed ancestors are a mixture of the riding horses and cavalry…

Sustainable water resources management Executive summary The study assignment will discuss different pavement aspects. The porous pavement, permeable pavement, the hydraulic function of pervious surfaces. These surfaces are considered playing significant changes in the operational procedures that are implemented in this case. Certain considerable roles have been created on the concept of porous surfaces. The sediments that have been adequately discussed the primary features of porous surfaces. Moreover, there are specific impacts that will be created based on the changes in the overall water treatment procedures that include hydraulic hydrological suppliants as a whole. Thus, all the processes have been adequately discussed in understanding the significant types of performance in this regard. Apart from this aspect, there are specific changes that will be addressed under the operation of the clogging of soil. The clogging technique is dependent on the element of soil erosion and change in soil structure. The changes in the climate are considered to highly effective in pursuing specific significant differences based on the overall operational techniques as a whole. The water resources may act according to the…

Statement of purpose for nanotechnology master graduate I began my association with computers long before the students of my caliper could think of it. However, when I entered my post graduate career in the university, I had no or a little idea of the direction I was heading to. I therefore decided to join the department of nanotechnology and chemical engineering because I had a venerable interest of it and the strength required to tackle it. In addition, I was inspired by the role that engineers play in our daily lives. My professor who was also my advisor in the field of engineering introduced me into chemistry during summer after my first year by delegating me a responsibility as a post graduate researcher. I never delayed in seizing the position, took it as golden chance to put together my personal experiences from various departments. The professor initially gave me a position as a result of my course work in chemistry and analysis of numerical data. All these were beyond the capability of the curriculum of fresh students. Since then, I…

Project Management Assessment Case Study Current approaches in complex projects require adequate planning, effective management of resources, building coherent communication tactics, and identification of risks to enhance efficiency and success. Therefore, companies have invented new approaches to project management by adopting skills and knowledge that facilitate timely execution of activities. This assessment aims to analyze the project management strategies during the construction of Burj Khalifa with a focus on risk management, communication, and stakeholder management. The analysis draws perspectives on best practices from academic literature to understand how Burj Khalifa reflected those aspects during the execution of the project. Brief History and Life Cycle of Burj Khalifa Burj Khalifa is also refereed as Burj Dubai and is the highest building in the world with an estimated, height of eight-hundred and twenty-eight meters. The building has 160 hotel suites, nine-hundred apartments capable of supporting twelve thousand people at the same time. Fifty-seven elevators facilitate the movement of people in the building. The tower also has cultural significance and predominantly features during new year’s celebrations with its magnificent fireworks. The skyscraper’s outstanding…

The Exposure of Greater Barrier Reef Ocean acidification is the continuous decrease of the ocean pH caused by the uptake of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Since the industrial revolution, there had been a constant CO2 emission to the atmosphere created by land change and burning if fossil. This has indeed increased the level of CO2 in the ocean. Absorption of CO2 in the ocean water caused chemical reactions that increase the number of hydrogen ions and reduces the amount of carbonate ions in the water making the water more acidic. Carbonate ions are an essential building block for coral skeletons and seashells. Therefore, reducing their concentration in the water makes it hard to build and maintain the calcifying organisms such as clams, deep-sea corals, oysters, sea urchins, calcareous plankton, and shallow-water coral. Also, the increased acidity will affect the lives of other organisms in the sea, such as some fish’s ability to detect predators. Altering the chemistry of the ocean put the entire food web at risk. The world as a whole is facing the problem of ocean acidification,…

Project Work: The Legacy of Bureaucratic Control in the Post-Bureaucratic Organization articles Abstract. Much of the interest in ‘post-bureaucracy’ in both manage-rialist and critical circles resides in its perceived potential to break with the traditions of bureaucratic, hierarchical control in work organizations. In response to the challenges of the post-bureaucratic form, project management has been put forward by many as a ‘tried-and-tested’ package of techniques able to cope with discontinuous work, expert labour and continuous and unpredictable change while delivering the levels of reliability and control of the traditional bureaucracy. In this article I explore some of the contradictions and tensions within a department where such a ‘hybrid’ mode of control is implemented, embodying both bureaucratic and post-bureaucratic logics. In particular, I focus upon the discursive tactics employed to sell ‘rebureaucratization’ as ‘debureaucratization’, and the complex employee responses to this initiative. I argue that the tensions evident here cast significant doubt on the feasibility of a seamless integration of bureaucracy and the post-bureaucratic. Key words. control; discourse; post-bureaucracy; project management; resistance The rhetoric of the ‘post-bureaucratic’ organization (Heckscher and Donnellon,…

Ikema Ryukyuan: Investigation Past Experience and the Current State through Life Narratives   Introduction   There are two goals in this paper. The first is to describe the current endan-gered status of one of the endangered languages spoken in Okinawa, Japan by identifying a set of factors that has affected this language. The second is to promote the life narrative approach that we have adopted to arrive at a reliable basic description which is necessary for documentation. We pro-pose that the life narrative approach is an important framework for docu-menting all endangered languages.   The online edition of UNESCO’s Atlas of the World’s Languages in Danger (2009)2 identifies four Ryukyuan languages as ‘definitely endan-   We would also like to thank Maggie Camp and Yuka Matsugu for their help in the prepara-tion of this manuscript.   Japanese/Korean Linguistics 19. CDM Risk Assessment. Designers Responsibility in Ensuring Compliance with CDM Regulations. Complete Design. Under the CDM Regulations, a designer is obligated to assess the design proposals right from the start and throughout the design process. Before any construction project commences, it is a requirement that a complete design of the structure is provided. This design is what gives a guideline and its from it that aspects of the expected risk can be drawn and mitigation measures set in place. Material Type and Quantity. As designers, it is our sole responsibility to advise on the material that will be used and quantify how much of the content is needed in the construction. In compliance with the CDM regulations, it is the responsibility of the designer, not to recommend the use of unauthorized materials like asbestos, which is carcinogenic. As designers, it is our responsibility to eliminate risk by designing it out. In regard to quantifying, should construction materials not be well quantified, there stands the chance of material misuse. Other risks associated with this include an excess weight for the structure,…
