What Makes Us Who We Are? Abstract One of the most remarkable research on human behavior, health, and development is the Dunedin Study. It is also referred to as the Dunedin Multidisciplinary Health and Development Study. Its focus has transformed as compared to its root, in the 1960s, whereby the study was chiefly on perinatal histories with the founder being Dr. Bucfield, a specialist in neonatology and senior pediatrician. At the onset of April 1972, the research has been following the lives of more than 1000 individuals since their birth at Queen Mary Maternity Hospital, Dunedin, in the country New Zealand. Currently, the study is in the fifth decade and has created over 1300 reports which have assisted policymakers in making informed decisions globally. The discoveries depict multiple findings in human development that are linked with health, temperament, and environment. In 2016, the New Zealand Medical school released a documentary titled “Predict My Future – The Science of Us.” The current paper will, therefore, analyze the factors that influenced two individuals in their early life as elaborated in the second…
WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT KENYAN VARSITIES, AND WHAT THEY ARE Due to our current education system in the country, it is the joy of every Kenyan parent when their children join tertiary. Similarly, their children are also excited about joining campus because they would have a new experience. realistically, there is an ego that gets into them as they know they are going to start a new life, most of them away from their parents. What the society doesn’t know is that in varsities, “comrades” suffer from a “disease” known as peer pressure, which sways almost 70% of the students into vices. Surprisingly almost all the activities in campuses, including the dress code and learning, are geared by peer pressure. Out of peer pressure, the students involve themselves in drug trafficking and abuse. It is with great sympathy that I write this to say that our youths in colleges and universities are becoming drug slaves. Earlier on, this menace was thought to affect the male gender, but today it has shifted to the ladies. It happens too fast whenever they…

Personal Stress Management Assessment Summary of my Self-Assessment Stress is a condition that arises when the demands of an individual are higher than the supply. In general, resources are not enough to meet the requirements of a person in life, which makes stress a common thing for human beings (Olpin, & Hesson, 2014). The pressure to meet the demands leads to building up of thoughts of how to survive in life, which further leads to stress. Personally, I assess whether I am stressed by evaluating my anxiety levels, heartbeat rates, and breathing patterns. Whenever I feel anxious about something, I know that I am stressed. Difficulty in breathing and an increase in the heartbeat rates also sends me a signal that all is not well. Additionally, I use a stress-o-Meter to compare my previous experiences with the current ones. This gives me a clear picture of whether I am stressed or not. In the stress-o-Meter rating, I have been getting a score of ten, which indicates that my anxiety levels are high. It feels like my life is blowing up,…

Application of QSEN Competencies in Parkinson’s Disease Five learning points based on the presentation From the presentation, five learning points learned are that first, there needs to be an interprofessional team to determine the best plan for the care of the patient. The safety of the patient is also a significant priority. The nurse must identify safety priorities for the day and how to address them. To prescribe medication, the team has to integrate evidence-based practice by merging the best evidence with clinical expertise to achieve optimal care. The nurse must recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing care and as the source of control. The nurse should take action based on the information from the designee or the patient. Lastly, we learn that nursing considerations should be adhered to when administering medication of a drug (Altmiller, 2017).
