The Moscow Art Theatre Formation and How Konstantin and Chekhov Began Working Together The Moscow Art Theatre formation Konstantin Stanislavski, together with Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, conceived the Moscow Art Theatre as a naturalistic theatre. The Russian playwright and director, Vladimir Nemirovich, and the seminal Russian theatre practitioner, Stanislavski, founded the Moscow Art Theatre in 1898 as a contrast to the melodramas that constituted the dominant form of theatre in Russia (Worrell 14). The Moscow Art Theatre got formed purposefully for the establishment of a theatre of modern art types, with a supplementary approach to its function. A meeting between Vladimir and Konstantin resulted in the formation of the Moscow Art Theatre. The establishment of this theatre followed a meeting between these two teachers of dramatic art who shared similar theatrical experiences and interests (Borrero 232). The co-founders agreed that Nemirovich-Danchenko was to execute both literary and administrative duties while his counterpart, Konstantin, was to have absolute control over the stage direction. The arrangement proved useful in the improvement of art within the theatre. The Russian repertory company, Moscow Art Theatre, created…
Social movements and Change Observations from scholars have revealed a different pattern in political participation in various democracies that tolerate social movements. Most social groups have influenced the way people votes in democratic countries such as Canada. Political scholars, pundits and policymakers believe that social movements contribute to a shift in voter turnout in the larger democracies. Art, Expression, Resistance Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five’s “The Message” (1982) “The message,” is a work of art form the Bronx in the 1970s depicting the urban catastrophe in the area that included high unemployment and poverty. This song came out at a time the Bronx was the ground zero of a city in crisis. From landlords torching whole blocks for insurance money to overwhelmed precincts squeezed by austerity, the neighborhood depicted London during the blitz. During the end of the decade the city lost 40% of its population especially on the south side of the Bronx. DJ Grandmaster Flash’s adolescence occurred in fox street where he lived. “The Message,” speaks to the human need to celebrate and make art. He describes the creative process of music during this era as each form of expression that formed its local heroes, commonly known as street kings. Art during this time was more of like a positive outlet for competitive energy instead of gang affiliation. As the gang movement continued to ravage the Bronx, something else was brewing. DJ Grandmaster Flash…
The Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) The Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) refers to a movement which offers support to immigration reform and the rights of United States immigrants. I have heard about the movement through a couple of people and have also read about it. It ensures that immigrants are accorded the civil rights they deserve. What interests me about the movement is the training that it offered kids so that they would take part in their protests all through the debates in 2013 and 2014. The fact that they protest peacefully is also interesting about the activist organization. This is important since it sets an excellent example to the society that issues can be approached maturely without having to use ways that will cause chaos. It is relevant because it makes the immigrants in the society feel part of the community at large. It plays a role in making immigrant families in the society feel appreciated and thought about instead of feeling discrimination from the government as well as people they live around with. I will present my…
practices that threaten the future of the planet earth Planet earth has served humans for thousands of years. If there is hope for the future, then there needs to be sensitization among people on how to conserve the environment better. Conservation of the environment involves having practices that ensure environmental sustainability as well as climate justice. Making sure that there is the constant recycling of garbage will make sure there is less waste producing greenhouse gases. Taking care of water bodies and water catchment areas is also another method of ensuring the water cycle is active. Using environmentally friendly products such as green vehicles; will see to it that the ozone layer is not disturbed by carbon emissions and other greenhouse gases. There should be movements against unsafe environmental practices by individuals as well as big corporates and industries. Additionally, it should be an individual role for everyone to take care of their immediate environment and practice environmentally safe actions. Environmental change will only be possible if everyone comes together and does their best to stop the current practices that…

The scramble for Africa- Part 2 The themes found in the document The main issues that dominate this article are imperialism and colonization. European powers are majorly concerned acquiring colonial territories in Africa and taking political and economic control over such territories. They secured the boundaries through several means including divide and rule, forceful acquisition and signing of treaties and agreements. The scramble for Africa was aimed at economic exploitation of the vast resources. Interaction between Europeans and African unfolded primarily in the 19th century. To some extent, colonization and imperialism threatened ruling elites, traditional political institutions and made some irrelevant while at the same time destroying others. The interaction between the Europeans brought economic change by building roads. The Europeans also undertook massive projects such as the construction of the Suez Canal. Africans further acquired new ideas and values through missionary activities and the promotion of western education and science. However, different African groups had diverse responses to European influence. Some showed resistance reactions; some collaborated while others posed mixed reactions. African resisted slavery and head tax that was…
Malcolm X and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Would African Americans be better off had they peacefully separated themselves from the white Americans? If yes, please state why. If No, please state why. Use examples from their writings to support your argument. INTRODUCTION Both Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr were among the key proponents of the freedom of the Black Americans. They took part in fighting for freedom of the Black race in America in 1960. However, the two were rivals and had different opinions on how the blacks were supposed to get their freedom. Malcolm was a radical who stood for the idea that Blacks would have to fight for their well-being while Luther was for the idea that Blacks peacefully seek separation from the Whites. They were both opposed to each other’s idea but had respect as leaders of the blacks. While King was a Christian leader, Malcolm was a staunch follower of Islam serving under Elijah Muhammad in the Nation of Islam[NOI] as a spokesman. The Nation of Islam strongly opposed America with its…
Evaluating the impact of gerontocracy on the participation of millennials and generation Z in Africa’s political space Chapter One: Introduction A gerontocracy refers to a society where the older people hold a majority of the decision-making positions in the political and socioeconomic circles. In Africa’s political context, most of the individuals that hold positions of power tend to belong to the old generation; a group commonly referred to as the ‘old guard.’ The domination of the continent’s political space by the aged is perceived as limiting the ability of millennials to claim a stake in politics. This factor also erodes their socioeconomic influence despite their being the majority in the region. In the context of this paper, millennials refer to individuals born after 1980 up to 1996 based on the definition offered by the World Bank (Dimock, 2019). Generation Z refers to individuals born after 1996. In this proposal, an evaluation of the impact that entrenched gerontocracy has had on the level of participation in Africa’s political space by its youth will occur. An examination of the underlying reasons for…
