The anti-vaccination movement Abstract critique just like last time. Abstract: The anti-vaccination movement originated in Britain but has been on the rise in North America since the 19th century. A conflict exists between individual autonomy, public health regulations, religious perspectives, and those who are suspicious and mistrust vaccines. There has been a recent anti-vaccination trend that has resulted in outbreaks of previously eradicated diseases, especially in areas with low rates of vaccination. A low rate of vaccination is dangerous for young children and immunocompromised people. They cannot receive vaccinations and so, when herd immunity is not present, they are highly likely to catch these diseases. A possible solution for the antivax problem could be implemented in two parts: patient education and legal accountability. Patient education would include more resources available for patients, this information would be in the form of seminars, pamphlets, and more medical staffing. [unique_solution]The patient education would also include a medical portal that could include all of the patients′ medical data and would alert them when they needed to receive a booster or a new vaccine. The…
Post-Impressionism Movement Introduction In terms of aesthetics and concepts, I am impressed by the Post-Impressionism art movement. The movement appeals to me because it uses vivid colors. It often applies a thick veil of paint and relies on real-life matters. The movement’s inclination towards the emphasis of geometric forms, the use of unnatural, arbitrary colors, and an application of expressive effect make it exceedingly appealing. It breaks away from the triviality of the subject matter and the evident loss in the structural composition of the Impressionist paintings (Brogden, 2017). Just like the arts in the museum, the post-impressionist objective is to make an impression of something durable and solid. The fact that the movement reduced objects to their fundamental, basic shapes while simultaneously maintaining the saturated Impressionists colors makes it outstanding and exciting. The use of art and vibrant color by renowned painters such as Vincent van Gogh to convey their deep state of mind and feelings that make the Post-Impressionist movement unique. I am drawn towards the mentioned movement, Post-Impressionism, because of its inclusion of details and attention to…
political movements and ideologies have changed Chinese-Americans’ living in the United States The Chinese-Americans population has grown significantly in the United States. This group emerged as immigrants arriving mainly in the mid-1800s and late from the late 1970s to date. The first wave of Chinese immigrants to the U.S. comprised manual laborers that arrived on the West Coast to take up mining, railway construction, agriculture, and other low-skilled jobs in the mid-nineteenth century. This immigration wave triggered a political response that led to the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 to bar Chinese from obtaining U.S. citizenship. Since then, policy changes, including the 1917 Immigration Act and the repealing of the Chinese Exclusion Act in 1943, have defined the fate of Chinese-Americans living in America. As a result, more Chinese have migrated to the United States, with post-1965 immigrants mainly consisting of skilled workers. China now is a leading source of international students enrolled in higher education in the United States, and its nationals have adequate representation in EB-5 investor visa programs. Therefore, it is undeniable that political movements and ideologies…
Art paper Introduction The blue and white Jar depicting the Yuchi Gong Jiu Zichu drama is n artwork from the Yuan Dynasty. The artwork is believed to have been made in the 14th century and was excavated from the Guanxi Zuang region, particularly in Hengxian County. The artwork is now placed at the Boston Museum of fine art. This painting on the Jar depicts the battle scene narrating the tale of a daring rescue by Yuchi Gong of Lord Li Shimin, who was the Tang Dynasty’s second emperor. An exciting aspect of the artwork is its ability to show a historical scene that is popular in contemporary Chinese literature. Description In the Jar’s painting, there is a man in a helmet and three-pronged fork in his hand, who is often described as Duan Zhixuan, the general of the Tang. He appears to be in a dangerous position since he is highly elevated and exposed to the battlefield. There is an armed rider who seems to be chasing after the general who is often described as Shan Xiongxin. Separated by hills,…
experience in the Metropolitan Art Museum in New York I had a wonderful experience in the Metropolitan Art Museum in New York in the last week of November, 2019. I travelled to Manhattan on November 27, 2019, ready for a Thanksgiving Day with my extended family on November 28, 2019. Having never been to the largest museum in the United States, I planned to spend the morning hours exploring the beautiful art and galleries. I visited the New York-based museum on November 28, 2019 from 1000 hours to around noon. Located at 1000 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan’s Upper East Side on the eastern edge of Central Park, the Metropolitan Art Museum contains an extensive collection of artifacts, architecture, paintings, and sculptures from medieval Europe. The Three Artworks The museum is the home to thousands of artifacts and historical artworks from across the globe. The most intriguing and magnificent artworks that caught my attention are the Venus Italica, The Death of Socrates, and Gertrude Stein portrait. Venus Italica is a marble composition created by Antonio Canova in 1757-1822 (Goudie, 2018). The…
Meet the Rising New Housing Movement That Wants to Create Homes for All Summary of the document This report explores a range of issues from rent control to social housing activists who were pushing for thoughtful solutions to the ongoing housing crisis. An illustration by Curt Merto while crossing Susan B. Antony Memorial Bridge sees a small city with tent houses. This city is scattered about the bank of Genesee River built on private land, and homeless people live there. On the south-east side, is a 48 unit brick building on Thurston road, the people there live in a deplorable situation. The above illustrations indicate a state of a housing crisis. Additionally, nearly half of the population were renters. There was no national movement capable of agitating for transformative human shelter. However, there was the rent movement that wanted to make private market noncommercial and aspired for community-controlled housing. Consequently, the movement led to the passing of rent control, affiliation with the housing justice campaign, and prevented eviction orders amid eviction protection. There were organizers who launched a citywide tenants…
Cubist Movement Pablo Picasso’s Les femmes d’Alger version ‘N’ of 1955. The painting was done in post world war II. The painting is the second last in a series of 15 paintings. The les femme d’Alger is an imitation of the original work by a nineteenth-century French painter Eugene Delacroix of 1834 to 1848. Delacroix’s painting fit the traditional European painting techniques; it showed three nude and partially nude women smoking, sleeping and reclining while a female servant in the background is seen carrying a teapot. Picasso’s re-creation of this work is quite unexpected as he uses the cubist style. He recreates the scenes using geometry shapes that are flattened and angular in discontinuous space. The painting in my perception was created in cubism to pass a message of distortion of the normalcy of the lives of the women within their apartment. The time of the creation of this painting is significant. The original painting created a seductive and enticing feeling to the viewer as well as portrayed passive femininity. Picasso’s painting was done during the eight-year war in Algeria…
Role of Women’s Movement in Promoting Women’s Rights in Africa Introduction Gender equality concerns, discussions on women’s empowerment, and the fight for women’s rights have become popular in contemporary society. In the current society, globalization, liberalization, and privatization are invading the political, economic, and social structures. These factors increase marginalization, making women more vulnerable. Consequently, the marginalization has led to the formation of women’s organizations and movements to facilitate a worldwide and a nationwide agenda on gender equity. Women have always risen through women’s organizations and movements to claim and protect their rights. Women’s movements are driving actions that seek to provide a great understanding of the deficiencies and challenges that women face. Centralization – analysis of the term through article review What does centralization mean? In the multiple structures of a business organization, the concentration of power plays a crucial role in its operations towards fulfilling its goals and objectives. Cubist Revolutionary Movement in Art Cubist movement Cubist movement in art originated from Paris early in the 20th century. Pioneered by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, the cubist movement was the dominant and most influential art movement beginning in 1907 in Europe (Sayre, 2016). The invention brought destruction to the established beliefs on painting, transformed our view of the world and made a way for its dominance that conquered the western art for the following fifty years. Cubist changed the perception of the art when its college put forward pieces of mass-produced famous cultural designs into pictures. The major cubist artworks were Les Demoisesses d’Avignon by Pablo Picasso in 1907 and Houses at L’Estaque by Georges Braque in 1908. Other artists and arts included Tea Time by Jean Metzinger in 1911. Other artworks by Pablo Picasso is Guitar and Still Life with Chair Caning and many others.
