Michelangelo’s David Michelangelo’s David is a marble sculpture created by Michelangelo between 1501 and 1504. It features a nude young man standing confidently, holding a stone on his shoulder using his left hand. The art lacks contrast as it is in one pale color; however, it represents vigor, in regards to the confidence shown in the carved man. The sculpture historically fits within the context of the Renaissance as it was part of the 12 sculptures of the Old Testament, which Arte della Lana sought to commission.  It represented advancement that was ongoing within the church at the time, especially the inclusion of art in its work. Thus, people could identify with the specific Biblical elements which were showcased by the sculptures. The sculpture stylistically fits within the context of the Renaissance as it is a depiction of nudity in sculptures, a concept which gained popularity during the period. Through the action, the artists attained the flexibility to present the various concepts in a society based on how they got to saw them. They also attained the ability to show…

Concert Report: Sammy Miller and the congregation Sammy Miller and the congregation concert titled leaving Egypt was held in the Campbell hall on Thursday, the 13th of February this year. The show began by 8 pm as it was recorded in the program. The hall was filled, and many other people could not get seats and had to stand through most of the concert. Most people in the audience dressed casually, and this implied that it was a casual occasion. The performers, Sammy Miller and the crew, did not also wear uniforms, and this created a free mood that put people in high spirits. As much as I found it weird, I noticed that the majority of the concert attendees were the men. The ration of men to women was two to one. Even so, I am sure that the women who had not attended the concert would have enjoyed it either way. The setting of the hall was neat, organized and expressive from the deco that was put on stage, and this gave it a theme. The opening part…

Jewish and Early Christian Art During the rise of the Roman Empire, there existed two types of religions, Christianity and the Jewish. The two had different kinds of art, and they used them to express their culture and politics. The Jewish artists drew their inspiration from the Near Eastern and Classical Greek and Roman art. Some of the most traditional arts of the Jewish community are; the first temple in Jerusalem, Jewish Catacomb art in Rome, and the Synagogues. The first temple in Jerusalem was first built by King Solomon, according to the Hebrew Bible. It was later rebuilt by Cyrus the Great after conquering Babylonia. A Jewish catacomb is a form of art that display wall paintings with Jewish themes. The synagogues, on the other hand, for the Jewish are significant because they are places where Jews gather to read the Torah. Christianity is said to have begun during the time of Jesus, and it was later passed to Paul. Paul influenced the spread of Christianity across the boundaries of the Roman Empire. Due to vas spread, the Christians…

The Media and Symbolic Interactionism Theory Human beings have the capacity to exert control over their behaviors- or simply to coordinate their behavior with that of others and create complex social attitudes or interactions. This ability is made possible through communication and aided by a theory known as symbolic interactionism, as discussed in the sections that follow. Symbolic interactionism theory is a communication theory that provides a framework for understanding human behavior by attempting to address the subjective meanings that people give to events, actions, or objects. The theory underscores that individuals behave or respond to circumstances depending on what they believe to be true- which may sometimes not be objectively true (Carter and Fuller 931). Thus, societal interactions are thought to be determined by the creations of human minds rather than the actual knowledge of reality. Symbolic interactionism was introduced by George Herbert Mead in the 1920s, but the principles of symbolic interactions trace back to earlier claims by Max Weber, who asserted that people act according to the interpretation of the meanings they deduce from the world around…

Music

Music Part A In the song ‘La Donna e Mobile’ by Pavarotti (1851), the music is immediately introduced, with its theme being severally repeated. The song lacks a simultaneous occurrence in pitches, cords, and frequency, which is collectively referred to as harmony. This creates an impression to the listener that the music has either stopped or is incomplete. Texture may vary depending on the character and number of instruments or parts playing concurrently, which could be tempo, voices playing, rhythm, and harmony used. In this case, the texture of the song is light, with minimal instruments playing in the background. The melody is a disjunct evident from the halts the singer makes during the song. A disjunct is used in a song to segment a song and alert the audience of new verse in the song. The song, ‘La Donna e Mobile’ depicts a disjunct that covers a wide range as a way of capturing the attention of the audience. As the song comes to an end, the harmony changes slightly to introduce a new voice tone that takes the…

Games as Art            Video games are some of the advances in digital technology. In today’s world, many people use video games daily as forms of entertainment. Video games are based on many subjects, including sports, fiction, non-fiction, action, space exploration, among many other subjects (Gee, 59).Personally, I am an active user of video games, as a firm of entertainment during my free time. Some of the video games I have played include No Man’s Sky, Fire watch, Mafia III, and The Last Guardian. All these video games are mostly based on art. Arguably, video games appreciate art as one of the best ways of expressing ideas and giving meaning to drawings. This is the reason most of the video games are based on art. Modernism and advance of digital technology have contributed to the fade of art and the rise of prominence of video games and cinema.  Generally, modern art has been restricted by capitalism and restrictive policies by governments.  However, video games have been branded as “a complete waste of time” by some critics who argue that their…

One Note Samba and Nocturne Op.9 No. 2 The compositions One Note Samba by Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Chopin’s Nocturne Op.9 No. 2 are western classical that exploit diverse musical elements that include melody, harmony, and rhythm in communicating themes on social issues. The artists equally used form, texture, and timbre concurrently, leading to the recognition for the piece as classical masterpieces. As a result, familiarization with the contents is necessary for understanding the influence of the elements and mode of their integration into the pieces. In this essay, the paper compares and contrasts the musical elements of the two pieces. Comparing and contrasting One Note Samba and Nocturne Op.9 No. 2 After listening to the compositions, the first element of creativity that one’s conceptualizes is the beat. The piece One Note Samba has a sharper beat developed by the instruments, just as the case of Nocturne Op.9 No. 2. However, the pace of the flow of the beats vary. The pieces genre fits classification as western classical. One note samba develops the highly syncopated melody from the note that…

Ethics in Music (Including Sustainable Development Considerations) Evolution and changes in my plans and goals             Since the beginning of this course, my plans and goals have changed tremendously. Initially, I had a vision for a music recording studio although I had not thought much into the specifics of establishing one. I knew what I wanted but did not know of what my first step should have been. My plans were all mixed up and my ultimate goal was a modern state of the art studio. In the course of the assignments that I have been doing, my plan has evolved vastly. I now have set targets that I plan to achieve in three phases, that is, short, medium and long-term. I also have considered the workforce including teammates and how we will structure the business. My plans have also changed to include the type of leadership that we will uphold and the ethical considerations that we will enforce. Proactive planning includes taking initiatives to optimize business efficiency through preparation and advance scheduling of events. I envision my goals and…

The Rules of the Game (Leadership Approach Considerations) My primary objective and goal were to make accessible to artists the necessary equipment and exposure opportunities for them to make use of their talents. I plan to do this by starting up a recording studio named Airwaves and Ripple. I plan to find a suitable rental building, furnish it, and find all the required gadgets and equipment. I also planned to bring on board the necessary personnel to make part of the staff. This team would comprise of producers, engineers, managers, and assistants. They would also help in getting some contracts and artists to work within the first year of operation. Our other goal was to have a robust and capable marketing department to get the name out there and attract more clients. The leadership style and design that we adopt will be crucial to the achievement of all our goals and objectives. We will, therefore, need visionary and inspirational leadership to drive, enforce, and ensure the success of all-out targets. Leaders who are transformational work towards upsetting and changing the…

Corporate Social Responsibility Addendum Executive Summary My plan to delve into the music industry encompasses the establishment of a recording studio with the name, Airwaves, and Ripples. I plan to start up a studio that shall provide a space or young and upcoming artists of every genre to express themselves. These shall even include other types of entertainers, such as poets and spoken word artists. The large state of the art studio shall open its doors to every person and allow them to find themselves and build their talents. It shall provide them with a chance to make the world know their work and pass on their message. I plan to start on my short, medium, and long-term goals immediately. These range from acquiring office space in a secure and conducive environment. It should also be at a location that most people would deem accessible at any time without any difficulty. The other goal is to hire a competent and committed team. They shall be the drivers of the dream and also the people in charge of the operation of…
