Venue Contracts Concert Facility Design Venue Contracts Contracts are essential in establishing the rules that stipulate the relationships between different parties working in a mutual agreement to achieve a common success. The rules written in these contracts attribute to the clouts of the parties involved. Booking agents and promoters play a significant role in the whole process of negotiation. Nevertheless, the balance of powers between these parties is often different. Numerous artists usually go through towns without any permanent establishment with the local community involved. Therefore, venues do not resolve concerns after the performances. Venue operators take a hard line on facility rentals due to the absence of post-events clout. Liable parties should sign fill length contracts. Venue operators usually decline to conduct business with artists who advertise concerts before contract negotiations. In case the artist realizes a reduced sale in early tickets, the venue would be left empty despite the booking schedule. Venues of a limited spectrum of staff technical service and stage equipment. Therefore, on rare occasions, artists perform on stages fully equipped by the venue providers. Stage…

Spanish Culture The world today is referred to as a global village. However, within this village, we all have unique identities that associate us within particular communities. The identities refer to our culture. Therefore, culture refers to the behaviors, language, norms, beliefs, knowledge, memories, and arts of a particular group of people. It is the whole way of life of the people (American Sociological Association, 2020). Material culture involves tangible things, possessions, or places which people use to describe their culture (Sociology, 2020). It includes things like homes, schools, hospitals, stadiums, places of worship, musical instruments, clothes, and food. However, non-material culture refers to conceptual principles we hold and our way of thinking on what comprises our culture and how we should relate within that culture. Its components include language, values, norms, beliefs, sanctions, folkways, and customs. In this cultural paper, I will describe the Spanish culture. As Spaniard, we love music, arts, and are deeply spiritual with the majority of us being Christians. We also love education, colourful clothing, and sporting activities. Our material culture has unique sports, exotic…

Music Copyright law Music Copyright law is an integral facet of the music industry. It refers to the legal rights granted to a composer, author, playwright, performers of the expression, publisher, or distributor to exclusive production, publication, sale, or distribution of musical work. The overarching goal of the copyright law is to preserve the creativity of the owner(s) of the original work in a tangible form such as record tape, CD, or copying lyrics in a paper as well as enable them to earn revenues from the sale of their musical works. The owner gains automatic copyright protection once the original work is put in a tangible medium. However, the music industry is inundated with controversies concerning copyright ownership issues, particularly concerning sound recording. In legal terms, “whoever pays the studio charges” is the solemn sound record copyright owner (Rutter 2011, p. 82). For music makers (artists and producers), the trend towards being the primary copyright owner brings with it a whole set of debates. Such is a contract case that needs critical evaluation deploying current copyright and music contract…

decline of print media In recent years, technology has taken over many aspects of the world. This era is commonly known as the digital era. The internet can enhance connectivity all over the globe (Verboord and Noord, 2016). As a result, musicians can reach out to many people in different parts of the world and carry out self-promotion. Consequently, the need for print media such as newspapers has declined over time. Several factors have contributed to the decline of print media; hence the significance of the music press also declined. While buying newspapers, readers are unsure of what the paper contains. They have varied interests in what they would like to read; therefore, buying newspapers would limit them to only what appears on the pages (Angelucci and Cage, 2019). The internet, on the other hand, allows users to search for different stories that they would like to read. They can access most of this content for free and at any time that is convenient to them.it is, therefore, unsurprising that many people have lost interest in printed media and…

Music Video Project The two songs, I luh you Papi by Jennifer Lopez and Girl in a country song by Maddie and Tae will be used to explain concepts and vocabularies of different genre of songs through sociological imagination and concepts. They both talk about how the female gender is objectified and sexualized for the musicians’ own pleasure and popularity, they show how women are treated like candy to be consumed. The videos of both of the songs try to change the common and usual culture applied in the todays’ world by doing it the opposite and placing the male gender in place of the female gender by objectifying and sexualizing them. The lyrics of the song ‘Girl in a country song’ talks about how the women are uncomfortable in their clothes and how they get disrespected by the men who gawk at them and call them sexy names. This makes them wonder if women are always supposed to look good for the men to pleasure them. The video however does not really reject sexism since the women are still…

Speak To the Sky             Speak to the Sky by Rick Springfield is my selected piece of music. The song featured in Springfield’s first album Beginnings which was released by Sparmac Records on August 28, 1972, in Australia. Rick’s hit song falls into a unique musical genre known as “skiffle”. What strikes me about the musical piece is first, the skilled use of an ancient acoustic guitar and how it blends with the banjo and drums that are played by his backup instrumentalists. The 2.37 minutes song begins with Springfield playing freely the G, C, and D minor chords of his guitar at the introduction of the song as he sings the verse two lines before the drums and banjo interlude (0:01- 0:20). The song’s dynamics at the start capture the listeners’ attention as Springfield rocks the strings for five seconds before beginning to sing. There is cohesion between Springfield’s melody, the backup singer’s harmony, and the deep percussion pitch played by the drums (0:21-0:37). There is a smooth transition from one verse to the other, therefore attaining rhythm. The…

Musical Elements in Eminem’s Song “Not Afraid” The song I have identified for this analysis is “I’m Not Afraid” by American hip-hop artist Eminem. The song is categorized under hip-hop. It is a rap song, and it is a common scenario to consist of parts, where the singer raps and other parts that present the chorus. Eminem has instrumented his song to start with a chorus where he sings before he begins rapping. The artist has planned the piece in a manner that chorus comes before the sections of the rap, which is then followed by the section in which the chorus comes in and so on until the song ends. Through the variations within the repeats, the song has been made a masterpiece. Eminem has used different musical elements to enhance the message and quality of the song. Broadly, the song “I’m Not Afraid” has a varied texture. For instance, it is simple for the listener to understand the changing texture of the song by comparing the rap sections and the chorus of the song. The rap section of…

When Peony Pavilion meet with Leehom Wang’s Zai Meibian Leehom Wang’s “Zai Meibian” is the representative of pop music, while Tang Xianzu’s “the Peony Pavilion” is the representative of Kunqu opera. This essay evaluates what happens when the two musical, artistic meet and how they promote cultural and musical values. Based on the artistic perspective, the two concepts are connected with “youth.” For instance, the Kunqu has been “re-juvenile,” which shows that it’s closely related to the state’s economic and institutional rescue support and the efforts of a large number of cultural workers at home and abroad (Zhang & Cao, 2018). On the other hand, “Peony Pavilion” has drawn the distance from the common people, especially young people, with the charm of “youth.”   Based on aesthetic functions, both artists can be perceived to be passionate.  Perhaps, the aesthetic function of pop music mainly refers to the aesthetic sense in psychological and even spiritual sense, which is manifested in the release of emotions, such as the joy of body and mind, the cultivation of sentiment, and the improvement of aesthetic…
