People Engagement with Art and Museums I visited the Orange County Museum of Art, which deals with contemporary and modern art. It is located at the major arts complex on the Segerstrom Center for Arts, making it easy for scholars and the public to visit and learn from the facility. The building of the Museums is a modern three storey building that is very large to cater for public visitations, enable OCMA to organize exhibitions and room for educational programs. The main floor of the building is majorly used for the exhibition of jewel-box and black-box galleries. The upper-level section consists of the administrative section, a roof terrace, a sculpture garden, and an outdoor screening platform during events. Inside the building, there are flexible exhibition galleries that are used for education and extensive room for the Museum’s permanent art. From the architectural design of the building, visitor interaction with art has been greatly prioritized to ensure a better view and learning experience. As I first entered the Museum, I noticed the excitement from people’s faces, who were taking photos…
Hisako Koyama Sunspots are hypothetically the most conspicuous features on the photosphere above the solar atmosphere. They have been argued to be the most significant players in solar and terrestrial interference. Notably, sunspots are dark spots that appear on the surface of the sun and which are cooler than other parts. These regions are results of magnetic bipolar magnetic loops that find their way onto the surface of the sun (Knipp et al., 1216). The occurrence of sunspots is variable and may happen for days or even months, presenting threats of flares and coronal mass ejections. The existence of sunspots, and their study thereof, can be traced to thousands of years ago. Writings of Chinese astronomers, dating back to 28 century BC acknowledge visual observation of the sun having ‘dark vapour’ at its centre. However, despite the length of time over which they have been studied, sunspots have proven to be a particularly elusive thermal phenomenon, with knowledge about them evolving each day. This notwithstanding, the evolution of human consciousness on sunspots, cannot be isolated from the contributions of various…
Humor in Music The joke by Haydn refers to the ending on the E-flat major quartet Op. 33 No. 2 in its last movement. In the whole action, Haydn depicts the traits of being a trickster. The opening movement sees Haydn setting a relatively balanced and jovial theme (Palmer, 23, 2017). The joke is the last movement is a rondo, a form where principle ideas alternate with different tunes that are often in another song. The joyful and fleet idea in this movement is evident. The idea gets filled with hesitant pauses that either depict the performers’ or Haydn’s uncertainty when they are about to reach the end. The pause at the last parts grows anxiously and is finished off with a whisper and is often related to a parody of “storm and stress” drama in Haydn’s Op. 22 quartets. The joke in Haydn’s eyes came across as a new way of theme elaboration while immediately exploding them into smaller fragments that are easily manipulated and recombined in numerous ways. The beauty in the solemn Largo sostenuto slow movement share…

Artist Statement My artwork for the past ten years has revealed in aspects of history, which has things to do with contemporary culture today. The context of my artwork affects work related to the audience. The reason why I have created is I have been interested in art and artist in my entire life. Within a portrait frame, I build a world that is different from the on ewe are living. The reason why ai created the art is that I pull the viewer out of the natural world and put them within a space that is much alive. I used portrait fame so that the audience will forget that they are viewing at a photograph. Instead, they see an alternate reality, one that mixes painterly qualities of surrealism and fantasy. I focus on the artistic medium because it is a subject of concept that is pulling us deeper into the world that allows us to escape our reality in exchange for a fantasy. My goal was to make a photograph looks beautiful, and that was seen by others disrupting…
Masks in the First Nations and Inuit Cultures First Nations material culture has become highly valued and has been recognized in the world of modern arts and culture. These views, however, often distract from current historical behavior towards the First peoples. The masks of the First Peoples are art pieces that are celebrated by the First peoples and Inuit cultures and are seen as powerful, incredible, and identity-making art. On the other hand, the art represents and shows the terrible travesties that were imposed on the First Peoples in Canada. These art act as reminders of the cultures of the First Nations and also as preservers of culture. They are reminders that these cultures still exist and that they are still being practiced in the 21st century. The masks are treated as art and are kept in the museums as artifacts used to preserve history and teach interested persons about the cultures of the communities associated with the masks. The art market highly values these pieces as they are used to dispel stereotypes associated with the people from these cultures…
social to political to radicalized movements The world has observed a fair share of fights from wars that span from social to political to radicalized movements. However, in the recent past, threatening events such as the rise in global temperatures have sprung a different type of war: activism. Activism, in simpler definition, is the policy or action of using the vigorous campaign to bring about change, either political or social. In a more detailed understanding, activism encompasses efforts that promote, impeded, or intervene with social, economic, environmental, or political reforms with the desire to improve society (Waltz). With such intent, individuals passionate about change have come in different shapes and sizes as well as forms. For instance, take the recent sensation on climate change, the 16-year old Greta Thunberg, who has radicalized youths around the world to stand up for their future in a global campaign on action against climate change. Her impact has been physical, yet, some take on the power of pen and paper to induce change. Such individuals are known as media activists. Nonetheless, this form of…
