Theatre Production Paper I attended a musical production by Broadway and directed by Bobb Fosse. Music and lyrics in the play was done by Stephen Schwartz and narrated by Ben Vereen, who is also the leading player. The other characters in the play are Benjamin Rayson(the King), Wiliam Katt(Pippin), Leslie Denniston(the widow), Martha Raye(Pippin’s grandmother), and Chita Rivera(Pippin’s stepmother). The play is about a young prince who had big ambitions in life other than being royalty. He was adventurous and quite passionate about this thing called life. This is seen as he struggles so much to get the attention of his father, the King. Throughout the play, the King is portrayed as either being too preoccupied with issues royalty or drunk. Hence he has no listening ear to the young prince. The prince then decides to go to war, an opportunity that Chita Rivera takes to eliminate both father and son to pave the way for her son to be King. The costumes used in the play depicts the different roles played by the characters. The King, for instance, is…

The So-Called “Spaghetti Western” Film Spaghetti Western, also known as Macaroni or Italian Western, is a vast subgenre of Western films that merged in the mid-1960s. It was during the international box-office success and the awake of Sergio Leone’s film-making style. The American critics used the term Spaghetti Western and also those in other countries as the Italians produced and directed most of these Western. According to Aldo Sambrell, the veteran Spaghetti actor, the “Spaghetti Western” was invented by Alfonso Sanchez, a Spanish journalist. The typical Spaghetti Western team consisted of Italo-Spanish technical staff, an Italian director, and a cast of Italian, Germany, Spanish, and American actors. The majority of Spaghetti Western filmed between the years 1964 and 1978 were made on small budgets and shot at various locations around Spain and southern Italy and Cinecitta studios. Most of the stories took place in the dry landscapes of Northern Mexico and the American Southwest. So the filming locations which they frequented were the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park and the Tabernas Desert, an area of volcanic origin known for its…

The Madison Golf Club Madison Golf Club is a private golf club found in La Quinta, California. It is one of the most talked-about private golf clubs globally. The reason I selected Madison Club is that I have been hearing the fame of the club from both the golfers’ lovers and also the club dominate social media as it is referred to as the club that offers the most exceptional golf facilities in the world of golf. Due to this popularity of this club, I would be interested in visiting the club and experiencing the comfort in the club as every person who ever visited the club never stops cherishing the place. Some of the things that attracted me to Madison Club are; one the fact that the club offers the best place for one to be with the family. As a person who likes traveling with my family, I was attracted to this club since it accommodates even people with their families. Another thing that attracted me to this club is that it has the best golf instructors that…

“The strength of the team is each member,” said Phil Jackson “The strength of the team is each member,” said Phil Jackson. “The strength of each member is the team.” From October 8th to October 13th, I was at a festival with a group of five individuals, including myself, and I’ve learned a large number of lessons from the event. Each of us had a unique role that helped put the entire event in place. From picking an idea for our five-minute short film to dreading to send in the final work a minute before the deadline was a nerve-wracking but an enjoyable educational experience of filming. When I was in high school, I didn’t get myself involved in activities, especially opportunities at my school’s theatre and drama club due to my social anxiety at its’ strongest. When I came to Virginia Wesleyan University, I promised myself to get involved in the theatre and the performing arts program and to communicate with fellow students that have the same interests as I do. Earlier in the fall semester, I went to…

The Performance of “Don Giovanni” in Old Globe Theatre, San Diego California My year was complete when I watched the Opera House performing “Don Giovanni” in Old Globe Theatre in San Diego California, a theatre that was full to capacity despite the alleged complains of expensive tickets. The stage was well lit with orchestral colors that aroused varied feelings in the actions as well as the introductions. The three-dimensional stage aroused a sharp sensation in the spine and made me wish I was one of the actors using the spectacular stage. The blue and white dressing code with the majority of the audience fairly rhymed with the stage colors that kept changing with the scenes producing a magnificent theme. The Performance and Performers The performers were dressed in costumes that fitted their roles, and their actions went ahead to show realism in the contemporary world. I was in a special way amused by the music used in the opera. It was perfectly chosen for the seducing, comic and sad moments, and no one could have escaped dancing the tunes with…

Being an active member of the Theatre Department Being an active member of the Theatre Department, I had little idea of what to expect from the performance. The actors and directions of the play are not as what you would expect from a traditional show. Besides, the play scripted by Fiona Quinn has been interpreted in different ways, which gave the director great liberty. While the performance was delightfully put together, there were some moments in the play that went unsolved. The performance was experimental, and despite the script signifying sad moments for the orphans, the actors made it sensation introducing humor scenes cracking up the audience. The actress used a playful tone and a high pitched voice to attract and make the presentation sprightlier. While the play was set to begin, the audience got to gaze on the unique design of the stage. The floor was wooden with walls side portraying an image of reminiscent of a ship. Light projections were occasionally used throughout the play to assist with visual aids.

An Analysis of the Blood Wedding by Garcia Lorca. Introduction and summary Blood Wedding is a famous play by Federico Garcia Lorca which was completed in 1932 but premiered in Madrid in 1933. The play is a combination of non-realistic and non-naturalistic features that involve the use of songs, chants, music, poetry and rhythm. The author divides the play into three acts with three scenes in each part to format the literary work for the continuous effect, dramatic climax and the final impact. The first part includes the setting of the play as in the farm homes of the groom and Leonardo. The author also introduces the audience to the characters while explaining their circumstances to develop the plot of the play. Act two takes place in the bride’s cavern where the bride takes off from the wedding, and elope with Leonardo as the man she loves. Act III is the final part which is full of pain and grief. It happens in the dark forest, and the eventual event is the death of Leonardo and the Bridegroom. The act…

Challenges Faced by African American Male Teens Since time immemorial, African American male teenagers have reported they endured untold challenges as compared to their white counterparts. This is because racism has hitherto continued to be a thorn in the flesh even after there have been a plethora of concerted efforts to root it out from contemporary society. Teenage is the age when most children experience tremendous transformations physically and emotionally, and it is correct to term it as a sensitive period in one’s self-development. The United States of America is composed of a bulk of the African Americans, and it registers most cases of maltreatment, especially among the Black community. Although the ascension of Barack Obama into power as the 44th President of the United States was perceived as a remarkable step towards the complete eradication of racism and other related affliction against the Black, the vice has hitherto remained intact despite the efforts initiated to mitigate it. The chances are that the trend of racism has been augmented, especially in the current administration of President Donald Trump. As some…

The ‘Alien’ movie review             The ‘Alien’ movie is classified as both a horror movie and a science-fiction one. It asks the questions, ‘what if?’ and ‘oh no!’. It is fiction because it presents a commercial crew that goes to space and meets a deadly alien. The alien escapes to the space ship that the crew has, and it takes much effort in dealing with it. It is a horrific experience. It is a science-fiction because of the abnormal events that occur. After Kane touches on the egg object, a creature comes out and bursts his helmet and later attaches itself to his face. After this, it grows to an alien and bursts out of his heart, thereby killing him (Scott et al. 7). After the decline in movie attendance in different halls in the 1990s, there are various steps that Hollywood took to ensure that it remained in business. It embarked on carrying out numerous advertisements on its movies to lure people back into the theatres.  It also moved to the big-scale productions to attract back the big bucks.…
