Lysistrata Annotated Bibliography General Idea Lysistrata is an ancient greek playwright bawdy antiwar comedy. It was first staged at around 411 BCE as a comic account of women’s mission to bring the Peloponnesian war to an end. Lysistrata primarily aimed at convincing all women to withdraw sex privileges from their men to force them to negotiate for peace. At first, women were reluctant and dubious, but the solemn oath sealed the deal, and all women agreed to abjure sex during wartime. Lysistrata, as such, is considered the greatest works of all times as well as the most anthologized. Various researchers have analyzed Lysistrata since antiquity. Fox, Mary‐Jane. “The idea of women in peacekeeping: Lysistrata and Antigone.” International Peacekeeping 8.2 (2001): 9-22. This work is substantively foundational in supporting my arguments. Succinctly, it reveals the impact of women in war throughout history, dating back when Antigone and Lysistrata were performed and written. Besides, its author has used peer-reviewed articles and scholarly works from women databases, consequently ma king it recognizable and reliable literature. This work implies collaboratively with…
PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDERS AND TREATMENTS Task 1 CASE STUDY Task 2 From the behavior displayed by Cathy, it comes out clearly that she is suffering from Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD). Social anxiety disorder has been defined as the fear that surrounds a person on a social situation and when interacting with unfamiliar people to bring an automatic feeling of self-consciousness and judgment. Looking at the case of Cathy as presented, we can conclude that she is a grown up as depicted by her age, 22 years. So the behavior she displays can’t be associated with childhood. From her story, we realize that she drives her own car when going to university, not because of any other reasons but because she fears using the public transport. Since we have not been presented with any case which might have led him to fearing public transport like accidents we conclude that she behaves that way to avoid being in a midst of crowds. This conclusion is however affirmed by her deliberate choice to leave his course of interest (Business studies) in the university because…
Matricide Introduction Family relationships can be difficult sometimes until the bond that exists between family members is no longer in existence. Matricide can be defined as the killing of a biological mother by her children. These cases are common in society today than in the past due to the various factors in the contemporary world. In today’s world, some parents are reluctant to performing their parental duty and may end up neglecting their children. Meghan, in her book, the unspeakable, talks about how her family had a complicated relationship, how the mother had neglected them, just like the grandmother had neglected her. Meghan wished her mother died, and even if she did not do it herself, at least she had thought of it a couple of times. Victims of matricide usually have brought it upon himself, and if they practised their role as mothers, then the rates of matricide would decrease significantly. Causes of matricide Neglect Children who commit matricide usually have stopped caring about their mothers as a result of their mother not caring for them. Daum felt that…
What are the three styles of meetings? Describe each type. The styles of management include theatre-style meetings where we expect a significant number of people in the conference but do not have many interactions. The second one is the classroom-style meeting, where the meeting focuses on the speaker, but the attendants are allowed to take notes. The last one is on boardroom style, which are meetings for small groups, and the attendants gather around tables. What is a crowd management plan? Why is this important? Crowd management includes facilitating, employing, and moving the crowd in an event. The primary importance of crowd management is that it reduces the conflicts that might arise in a crowd through monitoring the behaviors of the spectators. What are expositions? Exposition is devices that are used in passing the background information about a particular event to the audience. What is the venue? What are some considerations of venues that event planners have to consider when choosing one? A venue refers to a particular area or position that an event is expected to take place, which…
Performance Response Performance Response: Stageworks Theatre in Tampa – Morning Side Feb. 7th- 23rd, 2020 My friends and I had the opportunity to attend the long-awaited Morning Side at Stageworks Theatre in Tampa on the 23rd February. The sharply and fine-tuned event gave us a detailed and humorous glimpse into the lives of what it means to consider people as friends but mostly family. The play provided heartfelt lessons and the fact that family matters most in life, an aspect that proved to be the core of the play, “mother of all baby showers.” My moment in the theatre was highlighted by different observations I made about the actors, lighting, and stage. Observations and Descriptions The design of the women was intricate such as to catch the attention of the audience at a single glace. The women were represented with the combination of eloquence and wit in how they spoke and addressed others with a touch of strength and softness. The producer presented a combination of the qualities of a quintessential woman who has grace and dignity, an aspect that was well…

19th Century Slavery in West Virginia Institutional Affiliation Tutor Date 19th Century Slavery in West Virginia 19th Century Slavery in West Virginia In his second inaugural address, Abraham Lincoln opined that slavery was the cause of the civil war. This statement is now widely agreed that slavery played a central role in the war (Woods, 2012). James McPherson asserted this fact by stating that tariffs, rights, or the principle of secession cannot sufficiently account for the war (McPherson, 2000 p. 13). However, the phenomenon of slavery does not rest solely on its causative effects, as has been demonstrated by the recent apparent overwhelming debate by scholars of American history. To this effect, Edward Ayers asserts that “Slavery and freedom remain the keys to understanding the war, but they are the place to begin our questions, not to end them.” (Ayers, 2005 p. 128). On February 3, 1881, a bill that allowed all eligible voters in the West Virginia state to be jurors was a major mark of the heights to which the emancipation had achieved. Traditionally, West…

After the Persian Gulf War, Kuwait has significantly recovered from the impacts of the war. The country’s per capita income is one of the highest in the world. The Glass Menagerie The end of scene 7 in Tennessee William’s play, The Glass Menagerie, is the logical culmination of the heady trip that is the life of characters Amanda, her daughter Laura, Her son Tom and his friend Jim. The scene skillfully brings to a climax the personal conflict that Laura is going through due to her shy personality and her partial physical disability. Simultaneously, it brings out the high hopes that Laura’s mother Amanda has in transitioning her daughter into a better life. At the same time, it brings out Tom’s apathy towards life and his inability to bring out the best from opportunities. Lastly, it highlights the optimistic outlook and infectious spirit that Jim has and where it is leading him. Firstly, the entire scene is set in candlelit darkness. William’s intention in doing this was probably to evoke a sense of stark reality, where no grey areas or compromises exist. In Amanda’s case, she faces the stark reality of having done her best to lure Jim into an intimate setting with Laura. It is now Laura’s…
