Business, Innovation, and Management I learned several lessons from this class; the most important was the start and growth of businesses. Starting and growing a business are two different things, as illustrated in the case study of Burt’s Bees Company. The business idea was attained by accident, an aspect that makes me wonder how all other companies began and grew to the advanced states they are now such as Coca-Cola, Apple, Microsoft, and Walmart, among others. The success of most of the renowned innovators and entrepreneurs, such as Steve Jobs, has a story behind their success. Numerous entrepreneurs and their capabilities greatly inspired me. The essence of growing a business begins with realizations of an idea following by the implementation of the idea. A significant aspect I understood from this course is the implications of strategy in the maintenance of businesses.  Examples of case studies provided in the lesson, such as the Burts bees, were rather inspirational; his ideas were derived from an event in his daily routine that turned his life around. I learned that the basis of innovations…

Based on Chang’s book (Introduction chapter) discuss what some of the important aspects of the Chinese American experience            Individuals from China brought distinctive cultural traits to America. For instance, they made the Americans realize how important education was. Through education, people and especially Americans were able to acquire certain values that triggered the economic development of the country. Moreover, the interaction between Americans and the Chinese made it possible for the Americans to learn the art of entrepreneurship. Chinese people had knowledge of business as they acted as intermediaries between producers and consumers. Chinese, on the other hand, were able to gain knowledge of politics from Americans. 2 Discuss in what way their experience was similar to other minority groups in America. Just like other minority groups in the country, Chinese immigrants suffered from racial discrimination from Native Americans. They were denied access to essential facilities such as healthcare and educational facilities. They were also denied justice in courts of law whenever they reported a case. The Chinese immigrants were even denied the right to proper housing and ended…

Whenever and wherever either in school in my studies or while playing games, management is my favourite thing to deal with, thereby I chose to follow my passion for management and opted to graduate in Commerce while my higher studies were from the Science side. My passion for Management and Business dragged me to leave the Science side and here I am. I chose to follow my passion for Management and Business in my gap year after my higher education when I got engaged with my father in his Business and opted for Commerce stream for Bachelor’s in the year 2016. “Live your best virtues and principles in difficult/challenging times.” “Live your best virtues and principles in difficult/challenging times.” This quote means that we should stick to our values, even during trying periods when it is convenient to put them aside. As a business leader, I have learnt that virtue is what brings out the best of a person and keeps them going when things are tough. Sometimes the rigors of multifaceted projects drain my energy and discourage me, but it is self-discipline that helps me endure and succeed. It is temperance that allows me to delay fulfillment as a trade-off for greater success in the long-term. Fortitude helps me conquer the numerous trials of the corporate world: it gives me the momentum even in the face of tough situations. Strength, courage, and resilience are what give me the edge in my profession during trying times. “Lack of evidence should not derail your faith; stay focused and keep the faith.” This quote means that one should not be discouraged by the disappointments of an endeavor but should hold on and continue…

Economic changes in Russia Question one Russia has large wells of oil and gases that were initially not adequately explored due to political instability. The economy was noted to be struggling to overcome the 1998 financial depression.  A turn around came at the periods between the years 2000 and 2013 that saw a rise in the global prices of both oil and gases. As a result, Russia’s exports in the commodities rose at an accelerating rate recording 75% of the total exports in 2013. It is also projected that the purchasing power of Russians increased due to an increase in capita income thus a higher Gross domestic product (GDP). The country’s public finances however suffered a downtrend due to a reduction in global prices of oil by 50%. Basing an argument on the economic endowment of Russia yet a poor status, communist can be perceived as a poor tool of propelling economic development policies. Besides, communistic politics advocates for corrupt and egocentric policies with the interest of the community out of the discussion. Question two   Vladimir Putin has served…

Profits in health care organization Few changes in the organization of the health care in the United States have stimulated more interests and alarm than the rise of a new form of entrepreneurship that is investor-owned for profit-organizations that provide health services as a business (Salmon, 1985). The revenues of businesses that provide health services for profit have been estimated at twenty to twenty-five percent of the nation’s expenditures on personal health services (Relman, 1980), which could amount to 80 billion dollars now. Investor-owned health service businesses range from large companies (such as Hospital Corporation of America, Beverly Enterprises, and Humana, Inc.) that own or operate hundreds of hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities to independent institutions owned by local investors (Berliner, 2019). In mid-1985, the stock of thirty-four investor-owned companies that provide health care was publicly traded (Modern Healthcare, 1985:173). These companies focus on the specific type of service or facility, such as rehabilitation, alcoholism, nursing homes, hospitals, and medical offices. Furthermore, many large health companies whose first mandate of the business is not service delivery in health have…

The fact that the quick ratio for the year ended 2019 and the year ended 2018 is less than one is indicative of the fact that the company may not be able to pay off the current liabilities in the short-term. There is, therefore, a need to improve on the current assets as a way of correcting this challenge to enable it to meet the current liabilities obligations in the short-run. The leverage is also efficient based on the leverage ratio. The leverage ratio…
