Fieldwork Observation and Interview Project The fieldwork observation and interview project took place at Stephen White Middle School, Carson, California, in SDC 7, the grade English class. The students were using a teacher-made material to learn the area of language arts. The day was the 15th of February, 2020, and it was a lovely Monday morning. The lessons took approximately one hour, thus the duration for the field observation. The instructions used seemed to have taken a lot of time as it was to perfection; it is for students with moderate, severe disabilities. The students were autistic and with emotional disturbance. Therefore, they needed a lot of observation for them to understand the material being used. The instruction could have taken approximately four days to a week as the effort put upon it seemed a lot, and the strategies used were a number of them. The best practices observed in terms of universal design were all implemented appropriately. The three UDL principles were all observed during the lesson. During the engagement, the teacher involved the students during the lessons.…

Our memory betrays us. Hermann Ebbinghaus pioneer personal remembrance in psychology through his work on “Elements of psychophysics.” Later, contemporary psychologists such as Ayanna Thomas further expounded on human memory based on a consistently conducted experiment over how human beings can remember various past experiences easily. At first human beings can forget experiences that just occurred to them in a short while. However, by encountering similar information later in life, they will recall easily than for the first time. Time and memory relate exponentially as individuals continue to forget past experiences, and then in life, they get to remember much better.e. The topic is presented practically as in the case of Ebbinghaus, who consistently recites syllables and, after sometimes found to forget. The rationality in the psychological argument facilitated a better understanding of how memory supports recalling various experiences in life and also how human beings forget. A typical demonstration of a classroom condition is expressed through the podcast to help in understanding social memory abilities. An identifiably unique sentiment of the podcast was the failure to follow how human…

The role of tutors Tutors play a critical role in the learning process. They enhance convenience in learning by providing personalized attention to each student. Consequently, tutors provide self-directed and self-paced learning. Acknowledging the diverse needs of students offers a significant breakthrough in the learning process. Each student has a unique way of learning; not every student is a fast-learner or functions best in the classroom setting. In addition, they offer well-researched learning resources from a vast pool of resources. Looking up for the right information may be a challenging task for students. Tutors save students from this struggle by compiling authentic and high-quality materials for revision. This improves the students’ attitude towards learning. Remember, attitude is everything—with the right attitude, everything seems possible and enjoyable. Also, tutors encourage the freedom to ask questions. This helps in shedding light on areas that a student may find challenging. The best way to learn is by asking questions. By doing this, students can challenge their knowledgebase and comprehension of various topics/subjects. This builds confidence and comprehension skills in the students. Consequently, self-esteem…

Asthma is a disease that causes a long-term inflammatory of the airways of the lungs INTRODUCTION. Asthma is a disease that causes a long-term inflammatory of the airways of the lungs. This inflammation of the airways causes difficulty in breathing, which can result in death. With the advent development of teenagers during puberty, it comes with its challenges that can sometimes hinder the management of the disease. Asthma management involves controlling asthma attacks with drugs and avoiding asthma triggers through medications. Common symptoms of asthma include coughing and difficulty in breathing, with severe symptoms ranging from short and detreating coughs and worsening symptoms at night (“Treating asthma in children age 12 and older”, n.d.). Diagnosis of Asthma   ASTHMA MANAGEMENT AND TREATMENT. In managing and treating asthma attacks, it involves: avoiding asthma triggers, controlling asthma attacks with medications, identifying and recognizing symptoms, and immediately acting on them to mitigate asthma attacks and educating teenagers, teachers, and parents on asthma management. How teachers take part in engaging and encouraging diversity in a classroom Classroom diversity is very much essentials in education setup hence the need to cultivate it due to social and academic advantages. Several strategies are used by teachers to encourage diversity in schools, as discussed in the following paragraphs. Firstly, through the examination of teaching materials. This involves identification of the speaking voices in the classroom, for example, in social sciences and humanities, materials for teaching may mostly be restricted to white, western, and middle-class narratives. Authors of color should teach literature. The missing voices can be identified by examination of descriptions such as examination of how civil rights interact with immigration, gender equality, and the narratives of the American people. Additionally, the diversity of ideas builds a productive environment that enables the evolvement of ideas into a more and new refined style. The pedagogical strategy facilitates student’s appreciation and valuing of all diverse forms and enrichment of diversity to learning. Other projects applied to encourage diversity in the classroom include; ending homelessness using the first-grade rally. That will…

Strategies Used In Multicultural Classroom Introduction Multicultural education is generally a concept of the education system that is built on the ideals of equality, freedom, justice, and human dignity that are provided in the declaration of human rights and also adopted by the United Nations (Taehee, 2016). It refers to the education that incorporates traditions, histories, values, and beliefs of people from different cultural backgrounds. It’s, therefore, a kind of education system that recognizes various roles that a school can play in developing and improving the values and attitudes that are important to establish oneself in this independent world (Taehee, 2016). It generally challenges all forms of discrimination within the society and the school by promoting the democratic principles of social justice and equality in the community. Student diversity in schools helps to evolve coexistence among peers from different cultures, with better perspectives in the international field; However, there are differences in understanding cultures with some incompatibilities that make it challenging to understand methods that take students to a high level of internship, especially with the general respect of those…

Video games and their implementation in the classroom Introduction Video games have become an extremely popular tool to learn and play in the last 4 decades or so. The regular game player becomes extremely engaged and immersed in the gameplay. It has been noticed by many philosophers that video games are a perfect way of teaching people about critical thinking and social interactions in a good way (Lenhart & Kayne, 2008). They believe that they can be effectively used to promote an extremely successful learning environment successfully. Some people have really overemphasized on the effectiveness of the video games to learn in an informal way, and they have declared them as ‘holy grail’ that has a potential to revolutionize our entire educational system (Kenny, Robert F., and Rudy Mcdaniel,2001). However, still, many educationists are confused that not many people have implemented the idea of video games into their teaching methods. They believe that there is a general lack of successful integration of teachers and educators of media and new technologies in general. Experts believe that there are lots of complicated…

Behavioral theory Introduction Behaviourism is the process of learning a person’s observable changes in their behavior. This theory can be applied in classes and classrooms when teaching students (McKenna (1995). Behaviourism is used in classrooms to determine the relationship between the actual actions by a student and the immediate consequences of those actions (precursors). One theory that will help in understanding a student’s cognitive behavior is the operant conditioning theory (Spielberger & DeNike (1966). This theory mainly focuses on how precursors of behavior affect the behavior of an individual over time. Operant conditioning theory has four primary concepts, namely, extinction, generalization, discrimination, cues, and reinforcement schedules. Operant conditioning theory further states that new practices warrant more consequences, while some results increase the chances of a particular action to occur. A good example of operant conditioning is research conducted by Alberto and Troutman in 2005, which made the following observation “A seventh-grade boy makes a silly face (the operant) at the girl sitting next to him. Classmates sitting around them giggle in response (the reinforcement).” (Smith, Press, Koenig & Kinnealey (2005).…

THE ENCOURAGING CLASSROOM Creating a positive learning environment is essential to developing and managing an encouraging classroom where optimal learning and development can occur. Reflect on how creating an encouraging classroom involves many components, including applying the concepts of DAP, classroom arrangement and schedule, and effective communication. Section 1: Classroom Arrangement, Learning Centers Describe a learning center you have or would implement for a particular age group (share the age group). Why is it a developmentally appropriate practice for that specific age group? How does your learning center promote learning through investigation and discovery? Share how it supports prosocial behavior and the development of problem solving skills. Include connections between engagement and avoiding mistaken behaviors. Section 2: Classroom Schedule, Balancing Routine in the Child-Centered Classroom Classroom schedules can create the routine and predictability that allows children to feel safe in their environment and thus take appropriate risks in their learning.[unique_solution] Discuss how you plan to balance the stability and reliability of a schedule with the opportunity of spontaneous learning that follows children′s curiosity and interests. How will this balance promote…
