Learning in class discussion Learning is the act of acquiring new or pre-existing behaviors, knowledge, skills, values or any other relevant information. The process of learning should therefore be enjoyable to ensure the learners grasp what is being taught. If the learners think that the learning process is boring or tedious, then the probability of them understanding is minimal. It is therefore the duty of the tutor to ensure that the learning process is structured in such a way that the learner is comfortable and can actively participate voluntarily. Firstly, tutors should consider using classical conditioning in the class. This is learning that one stimulus signals the arrival of another stimulus (Griggs, 2010). This type of learning was discovered by Ivan Pavlov. It involves making the class interesting before it even starts. This method can be very useful because it captures the attention of the learners first and creates interest. The tutor can use something that the learners think is fun and can easily relate with. For example, if one is teaching about the world war, a tutor can use…

Creating Trauma-Sensitive Classrooms The central argument in the article is that early childhood educators should create trauma-sensitive classroom to help kids that experience trauma. Many children suffer from emotional, sexual, and physical trauma daily; therefore, early childhood educators should be sensitive during classroom sessions to identify such cases and provide the necessary help. From the trauma cases given in the article- four-year-old Alex suffering domestic violence and physical abuse from birth and seven-year-old Chiara sexually abuse at the age of two, it is evident that many children experience trauma from home. The author argues that 80% of early trauma cases happen at home from the children’s parents. Based on these statistics, I entirely agree with the idea that early childhood educators should create trauma-sensitive classrooms. In classrooms, early childhood educators teach children from diverse family backgrounds. Some are total orphans, single parented, adopted while others are brought up in foster care. These children suffer from trauma perpetrated by their parents or guardians. Consequently, early childhood teachers are likely to encounter young kids who experience trauma daily. As forwarded by the…
Annotated Bibliography on different sources that teachers and use in classrooms to reduce the distance between them and students This article proposes different sources that teachers and use in classrooms to reduce the distance between them and students. According to the source, the problem can be solved through what is referred to as a normalization that referrers to sources or activities that discourage and reduce the distance. It also provides how a teacher can teach the second language in classrooms ineffective way and bring students close to learning more. It shows that normalization can be achieved through technical fallacy, which should be integrated as part of the syllabus. The article recognizes the role of technology in standardization and in aiding teaching methods for teachers. It shows that technology helps to improve teacher-student relationships and results in the proper student learning process. By reducing the distance between the teacher and student relationship, the learner’s ability to access information as a teacher finds enough time to address students’ issues. Normalizing can be done through the use of technology. The paper also proves…
A typical classroom environment A typical classroom environment does not guarantee a personalized learning experience for a student. Due to this, tutors can easily customize course content for a student. Also, private tutoring helps a tutor learn the student’s abilities and learning styles. Tutors can help a student develop these abilities: communication skills, research skills, and problem-solving skills. Tutors play a significant role in improving a student’s performance in exams! While working with a tutor, the student’s understanding of the related subject will improve, which will result in higher performance – higher than the rest of the class. Apart from academic performance, the student’s attitude towards learning may develop due to the constant encouragement from the tutor. Having a tutor helps a student develop social and behavioral skills that may help foster better, healthy relationships with peers and teachers. Tutors are also important because they help prepare a student for college, where they will require advanced study skills and time management skills to thrive. Tutors continually help students prepare for exams; consequently, they also make them gain skills that would…
Classroom Fight As Marco prepares to go home, behind him, his classmates make fun of him. They are making fun of how he stammers whenever the teacher asks him to a question in class. Macro is quiet and seems not to be concerned with their mockery. All of a sudden, Macro is fed up with their jeering and challenges one of them to a fight. One boy by the name Larry picks up the challenge. He believes himself to be the toughest among his classmates. Macro is taller and well-built than Larry. He also trained down at the boxing club twice a week. Larry seems nervous as macro approaches in. He is terrified. He had never been in a real fight and. Without wasting time, they put hands up and get ready for the contest. Everybody is excited and eagerly waiting for the fight to kick off. Larry throws the first punch, and it hit macro square in the face. Suddenly, there is blood everywhere — the blow fractured macros nose. Macro is very doubtful but stuck his hands up…
My Philosophy of Classroom Management Classroom management is an integral part of ensuring active learning for all students. Some of the models used by teachers for effective classroom management are Harry Wong’s Effective Classroom and Morrish’s Real Discipline. Harry Wong primarily focuses on the routine establishment in the classroom while Morrish focuses on organized tactics that have previously been used by excellent teachers in effective class management hence helping the students in becoming self-directing and well-mannered (Dustova & Cotton, 2015). One of the strengths of Harry Wong’s theory is dividing procedures into time frames, making it be quickly followed. The approach has a weakness of focusing more on the successfulness of the teachers than that of the student. Morrish’s theory describes methods and techniques intended to help the students. One of its weaknesses is stressing reactions more than limitations. Some of the systems in schools/campus behavior management are Character Education and Love and Logic. The character education focuses on techniques of teaching the children with a primary objective of helping them develop good morals, behaviors and become acceptable being in…
Preschool Classrooms Alkon, Abbey, et al. “Evaluation of Mental Health Consultation in Child Care Centers.” Early Childhood Education Journal, vol. 31, no. 2, 2003, pp. 91–99., doi:10.1023/b:ecej.0000005307.00142.3c. Consultation services on child mental health are a significant aspect, as illustrated by the authors of the journal by focusing research on children and the impact of the services. The services, improve the children’s emotional and social capabilities and facilitate working with those with challenging behaviors. Therefore, consultation services have a positive impact on transforming the lives of children with disturbing behaviors. Future interventions are necessary for widening the efficiency of the service to more urban children with behavioral difficulties. The program enhancement can be through programmatic means and equip with more child-centered facilities for effectiveness in a friendly child environment. Beyer, Thomas, et al. “Prognosis and Continuity of Child Mental Health Problems from Preschool to Primary School: Results of a Four-Year Longitudinal Study.” Child Psychiatry & Human Development, vol. 43, no. 4, Jan. 2012, pp. 533–543., doi:10.1007/s10578-012-0282-5. Behavioral difficulties are familiar scenery in kindergarten centers because children are trying to adapt to…
How to meet students’ learning needs in a diverse, inclusive classroom To address the problem of those students who do not speak English, I will ensure that I use both verbal communication and visual support to help them get what I am teaching. When giving instructions, I will make sure that I use a written summary, whether on the board or in a handout. I will use visual aids to supplement my presentation and use different mediums of instructions: videos, written, use demonstrations, and also make the students do the illustrations. I will use charts, poem charts, and story charts to assist them in learning words. I will also employ the use of group work, where I will be giving tasks to students to handle. The group will be a mixture of fluent speaking students and those who do not speak English. This will enable them to practice their communication skills with Colleagues with different English proficiency. Changing the language and speech patterns will also help the student to get the message. I will speak slowly and clearly and try…
TED Talk by Brittany Packnett The topic of the TED Talk by Brittany Packnett Cunningham is confidence. The activist, writer, and educator argue that courage is a character that one must have to be successful. She describes it as the steering wheel of justice and as a guide in solving challenges in society; she describes it as an ignition point in the journey to success. She describes confidence as a step by step guide in the process of accomplishing set goals. She also argues that with confidence, an individual has the certainty to excel in events, not just the ordinary hope to perform well. It appeals to society to acts as the source of motivation for individuals who need to build this trait to change their world and their…
