Critical Theory Fund of Knowledge Human beings are social creatures that may be viewed as to exist in an interdependent manner where there is a reliance on themselves as well as other members of the society to enhance survival. Society and culture are two structures that integrate and come together to facilitate the total development of an individual and mainly affect the individual whom they turn out to be in the future. Depending on the type of society that an individual is exposed to in their early development, it has been identified to have a direct effect on the personality traits that the individual exhibits. For instance, an individual brought up in a civilized social setting will acquire these qualities and will move on to carry them forward in other future social interactions that they may get into contact with in future developments. According to the fund theory of knowledge, this aspect of understanding is mainly dependent on the knowledge and skills that may be attributed to the cultural setting that an individual is exposed to in their upbringing.…
CRITICAL THINKING ASSIGNMENT Introduction Financial transactions and practices differ based on the geographic region as well as the culture of the society. The banking system has been convenient in most areas due to its flexibility to accumulate the various lifestyles and needs of individuals. Sharia banking practices are most common amongst the Islamic community and are entirely adopted globally in regions where the Islam culture is practiced. Western banking also identified as conventional banking is based on the culture of the west of doing business hence relied on across all areas where the members are satisfied with it. This paper aims to compare the Sharia and western banking systems to understand their differences and similarities as well as the challenges faced by Saudi corporations in countries that do not have Sharia banking. Comparison between Sharia banking and Western banking Differences The western banking system relies on the interest that is charged on other lenders as well as other investments to get revenues. In contrast, Sharia banking relies on Islamic teachings and Syariah laws in making profit rates instead of interest…
Classical and Operant Conditioning Conditioning is a type of study which tries to examine the stimulus behind human behaviour or how people respond to different issues. The two main approaches to this study are classical and operant conditioning. Classical conditioning relates to the way people react to life aspects unconditionally based on a given expectation. For instance, given that a person is used to have his meal served on a particular plate at home, it goes that every time he sees that plate, he or she remembers the meals. This response can be recurring until it becomes evident that the body responds without any condition when one considers the plate. This response brings about this kind of conditioning. Which form of conditioning is used most for behaviour modification? In response to this, operant conditioning is considered the best psychological approach in behaviour modification. This type is suitable because the experiment studies the reaction of human behaviour on different life issues. Operant conditioning can be more preferred over classical conditioning since it entails the principle of rewarding and punishments. Human behaviour…
epistemological component of philosophy Discussion The metaphysical, axiological, and epistemological components of philosophy all add value to the given philosophy in different measures. Of the three, I consider the epistemological part to carry more significance. Epistemology is simply the pool of knowledge surrounding a philosophical proposition. It gives credibility to philosophy by attempting to answer the question, “How do we know?” By this, epistemology encompasses the definition and construction of concepts, the quality of rational reasoning, and the validity of thoughts, emotions, memories, ideas, and all things senses or mental. In other words, it gives credibility to every sense of reasoning by first establishing how our minds are related to reality, and whether the relationship is valid or not. Being a necessity in determining the true from the false of every reasoning makes epistemology the prime component of philosophy. This is especially true considering that without the epistemological aspect, it would be impossible to distinguish between delusions and logics, or separate truth from error. For instance, epistemologists ask for the set of criteria that must be satisfied for something that…
Critique of an Advertisement The primary objective of an advertisement is to inform the target market about the availability of an excellent, service, or idea, to persuade people to take a favorable position about the issue being promoted or to remind people about something of value to them. The paper examines the print advert run by the Moms Demand Action, a gun-control organization concerned about the rise in mass shootings in the United States occasioned by the ease of access to guns by young people. The advert uses the images of two young children, where one holds a Kinder chocolate egg, while the other holds a rifle. The advertiser uses visual images and text adeptly to underscore the hypocrisy in U.S. society and to reiterate the need for gun control laws. The advertisement identifies the sponsor as the Moms Demand Action lobby group that seeks to educate the public about the dangers of guns in the wrong hands. The organization runs its campaign under the slogan, “For Gun Sense in America,” which implies it believes the current gun control and…
Error analysis on junior and senior high school students written production Abstract To reveal new an insight into what the most severe grammatical frequent errors made by Swedish learners in junior and senior high school, here, we performed an error analysis study of analysis errors in 20 written productions for junior and senior high learners, based on use (ULEC) The Uppsala learner English corpus. The results showed that the most frequent grammatical errors have occurred in the spelling category in both groups (junior and senior learners). Furthermore, the study also explored there were differences between junior and senior high school learners in terms of use grammatical errors, where the junior group had a higher frequency of grammatical errors compared to the top group. Also, this analysis provided senior learners have struggled more than junior in use the wrong verb, especially in errors of verb tense. 1.Introduction The appropriate use of a language requires proper grammatical command. This is the most crucial part when learning a new language. According to Sloverket (2004:3), Swedish students have a better comprehension of the…
The Learning Centers Discussion The Learning Centers are places that encourage interaction between teachers and students outside the scope of the curricular. The formulation of the idea is worthwhile when seeking to improve student’s experience. I believe that the centers are beneficial in the early stages of student development. One of the reasons for the claim is that the environment facilitates the incorporation of curricular contents in student’s day-to-day life. The teacher then uses the center for transition in planning classroom activities. Secondly, the centers enhance flexibility in interactions. The association in the long-term leads to intellectual development. The role that the center should play in curricular development is inculcating in learners the confidence that eases interaction that results in learning. Consequently, the centers should guide planning for transition as well as assessment outside the scope of academia. A teacher can use the place to judge student’s abilities in a subject or extracurricular activity such as sports (Bakken, Nola, and Barry 256). The teacher can then use the information to motivate the student to consider sharpening the skills identified at…
A leadership experience where I influenced others positively, assisted in resolving conflicts or participated in group efforts For three years now, I have actively volunteered as a coordinator in a community initiative whose purpose is to assist those in need, particularly children, with resources such as clothes, school fees, and food. One of my duties is to make decisions on the kind and extent of assistance that any particular vulnerable child required. I then forward my evaluation to the authorities of the program to approve and take action. My work as a coordinator has elicited satisfaction among every stakeholder and retention. For example, the administrators of the program have tended to hail me for making their work of running the initiative easier. They usually state that my analytical skills have helped them to ensure that the provision of assistance to the needy is well balanced and optimal. Besides, due to my leadership acts as a coordinator, teenagers who would otherwise resort to crime as a way of meeting their daily life need have led a good cause. Furthermore, my work…
literature selection As you have worked on this week’s assignment, what have you discovered or uncovered about yourself in relation to literature selection, particularly any biases you may have? This week’s assignment has been eye-opening for me. It made me face a side of me that I had never explored before, and which regards me being prejudiced against certain types of literature. From this week’s assignment, I realized that I only focus on the literature that I have positive memories of. In a recent assignment, I noted that my favorite childhood stories include the Big Bad Wolf and the Little Red Riding Hood. These stories taught me that children should always respect their parents. I went ahead to say that I would encourage my students to always look for books that interest them. As such, I am biased against works of literature that I do not find interesting. As a scholar, I am supposed to provide the most objective information I can access to my audiences, whether from my past or research. I have a mandate to open the children’s…
Effects of Laptops and Tablets in Classroom Learning For quite a while now, laptops and tablets have been part of the daily classroom activities in most learning institutions. In developed countries, mobile learning and the use of technology in classrooms has become a paradigm in the education sector. There have been arguments that describe the effects of use and access to digital technology in classes. The impacts of laptops and tablets are vast, having both the beneficial and consequential results on their users. Laptops and tablets can be useful in enhancing student participation in classrooms. In research to demonstrate the effectiveness of laptops in learning, students who used laptops posted slightly higher grades than those without notebooks or tablets. This result was because most students using either their personal or borrowed devices tended to ask more questions compared to the traditional classroom system. The result was that most students would find solutions to their problems without having to approach their teachers personally. On the other hand, there was the negative side of using these devices in learning. The research proved…
