Use of English as the Official Communication Language in Non-native Colleges The choice of language use is paramount in any setting or social, formal, and informal environments as it will determine the outcome of the meeting process and communication (Kate et al., 2015). I interviewed two students on their perception of English as a choice for official communication in their college. The questions and their responses are shown below. Question 1 The English language is widely spoken in Kuwait, yet the official language of the country is Arabic. What can you say about its communication, understanding, and its importance in the country’s higher institutions? Response English in Kuwait was introduced before the country’s independence as a subject taught and to be part of the curriculum. Kuwait being among Arab countries, we officially speak Arabic, but English has been introduced as a subject to the curriculum. Clearly, I can say that English is learned in Kuwait as a foreign language. It has no internal function in the learner’s country. It has to be learned for one to be able to…
World Englishes and Globalization Introduction In the world today, globalization has had and will continue to affect many aspects of society, inclusive of languages. Globalization refers to the interconnections of the global economic, political, and cultural environment, which perpetually transform current conditions (Coupland). One of the significant causes of globalization is the rampant spread of languages, mainly English. It is well known that English language is widespread and has gained prominence across the globe. It is estimated among the Language speakers, only a fourth of them are native speakers while the rest have acquired it as second language (are non-native English language speakers). It’s a clarion evident that there are more non-native English speakers as compared to those who use it as their first language (Kirkpatrick). English quotes The quote is written in the book “A hero of the time” by Mikhail Lermontov. Pechorin is a man who has described as heroic and brilliant. Furthermore, the author describes Pechorin as a very hardworking character. The act of spending his day out hunting in the rain strongly supports the point. Going against nature is also expressed in the quote; Pechorin can do what many would not have done. Additionally, the quote describes a man who does not take care of his health. The act of hunting the whole day may result in unnecessary tension of the major body tissues. Also, hunting in rains and the cold supports the fact that Pechorin did not prioritize his health issues. Besides, the author notes that the cold made him turn pale, yet Pechorin did not mind. Pechorin, in the quote by Mikhail, is depicted as a coward man despite his heroism. The fact that the author states that “another time he would be sitting in his house,” shows that Pechorin feared interaction with people. The fact that he used to…

standard American english Introduction Students are frequently asked to write research papers and academic assignments in and out of classrooms for assessments on the topics in their field of study (Lee, 2018). One of the typical requirements in writing such assignments including relevant sources of information they have been provided (Hitchcock, C, Casal, J.E. Lee, 2018). Implementation; How to use Google translation Student Name Institution Date Implementation: How to use Google translation In my last semester before graduation, I transferred to interdisciplinary research. My two research topics are intensive English reading and Chinese translation. I hope to help my parents translate some English documents in the future. At the same time, I also learn business skills by myself. After the interdisciplinary study, I understand that these courses can be combined. I often use business cases to do sentence translation exercises, and then remember the keywords. In this way, I can not only master Chinese and English translation but also learn a lot of business knowledge. I often use Google translation as my learning method, and at the same time, I began to rely on this software. I don’t know if this habit is good or bad for me, and in my investigation, all international students have used this software, so Google translation requires further assessment.
