Health Law Part I: The Role of the Joint Commission in Accreditation Facilities to be accredited The Joint Commission (JC) can accredit many kinds of health care organizations (HCOs) through on-site evaluation to assess compliance with the standards and verify improvement activities. The HCOs include hospitals, nursing homes, behavioral health treatment facilities, doctor’s offices, office-based surgery centers, and home care service providers (The Joint Commission, 2020). Ambulatory care and laboratory services also fall within the programs that the Joint Commission accredits. The accreditation standards seek to address crucial operation elements in the medical facilities, including medication safety, patients’ rights, infection control, and patient care. Goals of the Commission The Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs) program, established in 2002, were meant to help the JC-accredited organizations to focus on specific patient safety areas of high priority (The Joint Commission, 2020). The JC recognizes that many hospitals post a list of unapproved abbreviations that providers might use as shortcuts that cause medical errors (The Joint Commission,…

Discussion about Humanities at Marymount University The event at Marymount University was well organized and facilitated by the institution. The seats where the students and the professors were supposed to sit were well arranged to accommodate a large number of learners. Every individual who attended the event was given a leaflet detailing the aspects of humanities that were supposed to be discussed in the conference. From a planner’s point of view, I think that giving the flyers to the students allowed them to have a prior understanding of what was to be discussed at the conference. This prepared them psychologically hence inspiring their meaningful contributions. Additionally, the conference was being moderated by a humanities professor who was well known by the student’s. This was a positive step in encouraging most students to participate in the discussion. From an attendee’s perspective, the event was exciting to me. Since it was held in a calm hall, there was no disturbance from outside. The sitting arrangement was also excellent, where students would closely sit with the professor’s. Student’s in different years were also…

The evidence-based problem PICOT question: In adults intubated patients at the intensive care unit (ICU), is Nurses’ Knowledge regarding their hospitals’ requirements for assessment and accommodation more useful in relative to acquired impaired communication? Nurses have shown plenty of challenges during the decision-making process when accommodating and assessing patients who are intubated. Patients who are intubated are placed on a ventilator gadget to help them with breathing when illness conditions get severe. The Knowledge of Nursing should be taken up to assist other health experts during the assessment and in making options for accommodation (Haljamăe et al., 2003). Over a prolonged period, acquired communications use has been a replacement for the input of nursing on the decision making process for the management of patients. Patients who are intubated are those in the ICU intensive care unit. At many times, they require an assessment of their airways to be able to fathom their accommodation procedures and needs to be expected. In relevance to Simpson et al. (2012), the Intensive care unit environment isn’t very favorable for the management of complicated airway…

Workplace Cultural Diversity Introduction Just like individuals have their unique personalities, each company has its distinct personality, and this unique personality displayed in the company is known as organizational culture. Even though corporate culture is an invisible force that exists in groups of individuals working together, it is also a powerful force that impacts the behavior of the group members. It seems there is a widespread understanding that organizational culture refers to a common-sense scheme established by members that separate the company from the others. Corporate culture is a set of shared perceptions, principles, and beliefs that control how people conduct themselves within organizations (Mazur, 2010). Organizational culture involves the aspirations, perceptions, beliefs, and principles of an organization that bind it together and is reflected in its self-image, inner workings, relationships with the outer environment, and hopes of the future.
