The Effects of Differentiated Instruction and Enrichment Pedagogy on Reading Achievement in Five Elementary Schools Purpose: The main aim of this research study was to examine the effect of a differentiated, enriched reading program on students’ oral reading fluency and comprehension using the schoolwide enrichment model–reading (SEM-R) (Reis, McCoach, Little, Muller, & Kaniskan, 2011). Significance: The research study was necessary to help Establish whether an independent and interest-based program (SEM-R) can be used instead of the normal reading curriculum without imminently influencing scores on standardized assessments of reading fluency and reading comprehension. Determine if the use of the SEM-R can help to increase students’ reading fluency and comprehension. Assess whether students’ instructors, principals, and literacy coaches taking part in the SEM-R intervention, produce higher levels of student instruction in reading Literature: Two major study theories utilized were based on the SEM-R framework; The use of enrichment pedagogy as technique to increase student instruction in reading. Differentiation of content and instruction by use of data analysis to support instruction changes to respond to variations in students’ readiness, interests, and learning profiles…
Personal statement for law school From a tender age, I was always looking forward to correcting the misactions by others in society as a way of serving the nation. I ever thought of becoming a policeman, but this did not sound well in me as I saw people in such a profession to be very ruthless. My drive to serve the society was not motivated by harassing the societal members but rather get down to their level and understand that which they were going through and not to humiliate them as it was the case for the police. This drive in me could be effectively attained through my pursuance of the legal profession as a lawyer. My dream was to become a servant of the people. This motivation was derived from my dad, who was a practising judge in the high court. I always saw my dad receive many calls on a daily basis and even many visits during the weekends at our home. These callers and visitors were people whom my dad had already served before, and those that…
Creating Trauma-Sensitive Classrooms The central argument in the article is that early childhood educators should create trauma-sensitive classroom to help kids that experience trauma. Many children suffer from emotional, sexual, and physical trauma daily; therefore, early childhood educators should be sensitive during classroom sessions to identify such cases and provide the necessary help. From the trauma cases given in the article- four-year-old Alex suffering domestic violence and physical abuse from birth and seven-year-old Chiara sexually abuse at the age of two, it is evident that many children experience trauma from home. The author argues that 80% of early trauma cases happen at home from the children’s parents. Based on these statistics, I entirely agree with the idea that early childhood educators should create trauma-sensitive classrooms. In classrooms, early childhood educators teach children from diverse family backgrounds. Some are total orphans, single parented, adopted while others are brought up in foster care. These children suffer from trauma perpetrated by their parents or guardians. Consequently, early childhood teachers are likely to encounter young kids who experience trauma daily. As forwarded by the…
The Symbolic Nature of Language Language is a system of communication that makes use of symbols such as body language, images, sounds, and words to convey deep meaning (Wood, 2019). Language is symbolic in the sense that it consists of arbitrary, ambiguous, and abstract. Arbitrary symbolism in language involves the absence of a necessary connection between the meaning of the word and its form or how it looks (Wood, 2019). Therefore, all language is arbitrary. A good example is the word “cat.” By the fact that the word “cat” is used to refer to an animal, it does not signify or instead looks like the animal itself. The ambiguous symbol in the language is a word or a sentence that can be understood in two or more possible ways. Ambiguous words lead to vagueness and shape the foundation of unintentional humor (Wood, 2019). A good example is “neighbors are hunting dogs.” In this sentence, it is not clear whether the neighbors are being spoken of as dogs or whether the dogs were being hunted. Principles of Verbal Communication Language has…
ABCD Case Study Purpose ABCD intends to determine the ideal number of footballs and basketballs to manufacture that will maximize the company’s net profit after taxes. To determine what actions the company should take in the future to increase profitability. To determine how much extra profit the company might expect if the action is implemented. Problem Description Even though ABCD has some flexibility to adjust its manufacturing effort between basketball and football production, the current manufacturing processes limit the maximum and the minimum number of each ball that the company can produce. These constraints include the production capacity, labor costs, cost of materials, and manufacturing time. Therefore, there is a need to determine the ideal number of footballs and basketballs that ABC should produce to maximize its net profits after taxes. Methodology The analysis used Excel Solver to carry out linear programming. The decision variables (n) denoted the ideal number of footballs and basketballs that the machine was expected to manufacture to maximize the company’s net profit after sales. The constrains covered in the model include the machine capacity in…
NUTRITION CASE STUDY Introduction The patient in this is a black woman in her late sixties. She is 47 years old and still active in her career. I shall refer to the woman and Mrs. Y. Her family has a history of hypertension, with her father dying at the age of 72 years from hypertension that was related to complications in the heart. Both her grandparents had the same condition for an extended period, which contributed to the demise. Mrs. Y is a cahier has worked in that position for almost two decades. Teaching the culture of safety Describe a clinical experience that was troubling to you. Describe what bothered you about the experience and what could have you done differently, utilizing critical thinking. Each year, there are at least 44,000 people who die in healthcare centers as a result of preventable harm. One of the clinical experiences that were troubling me a lot was the patient delay in treatment as they are forced to wait in lines before treatment even if they have severe medical conditions. In one instance, a patient died just because he could not access medical services in time. This is a case that would have been prevented if an action would have been taken to determine how patients could access medical services faster. This experience bothers me. What I would have done differently to ensure that this would not happen again is to come up with a strategy where patients with critical conditions are received medical services immediately. If given a chance, with the skills and experience I have, would have helped to determine the patients who need…
Cancer Is Spreading Fast! Lung and breast cancer cases are the most frequent cases worldwide. Next comes colon cancer, the fourth is bladder and cancer of the back and mouth. The symptoms of cancer take different forms depending on the location. The American Cancer Society has identified seven signs or dangerous signals. Which can lead to the presence of cancer. The signs are: A boil that doesn’t heal. Changes in intestinal or bladder conditions. Abnormally no blood or any other material flowing, rash in the chest, thickening of the skin or swelling in the chest or other location, indigestion or difficulty swallowing anything, Or abnormal changes in the size of the pimples, persistent coughing that becomes painful or swallows. Other symptoms of cancer include loss of weight due to unknown reasons (especially for older ones), changing skin color, changes in women’s daytime or high blood flow. Causes of cancer The underlying cause of cancer is still unknown, but it is clear from clinical practice, that Involuntary Mental Factors include Unhealthy Diet, Smoking, Pan, Stools, Gitka, and Absence of Mawa, Obesity,…
Critical Thinking Development as a Primary Goal of Elementary Education Introduction For the past few years, the impetus for change in the education system has called for a learning approach that not only teaches learners to pass exams but helps them fulfil their potential and support their efforts for growing up into committed and fully responsible citizens. The conventional approach to learning usually referred to as teacher-centered learning approach, has received criticism for the perception that learners are empty vessels whose role in a classroom is to passively receive knowledge from their instructors. Thus, the primary goal of teacher-centered education, which is still widely practiced in America and globally, is to impart knowledge through tests and assessments and expect a positive result. Numerous researchers have come to a consensus that the conventional teaching approach is inefficient due to its over-dependence on the teacher, failure to facilitate higher cognition, and failure to recognize learners as people with different learning potential and talents. As an alternative, the call for a student-centered approach that focuses on developing the skills of each learner and…
