literature selection As you have worked on this week’s assignment, what have you discovered or uncovered about yourself in relation to literature selection, particularly any biases you may have? This week’s assignment has been eye-opening for me. It made me face a side of me that I had never explored before, and which regards me being prejudiced against certain types of literature. From this week’s assignment, I realized that I only focus on the literature that I have positive memories of. In a recent assignment, I noted that my favorite childhood stories include the Big Bad Wolf and the Little Red Riding Hood. These stories taught me that children should always respect their parents. I went ahead to say that I would encourage my students to always look for books that interest them. As such, I am biased against works of literature that I do not find interesting. As a scholar, I am supposed to provide the most objective information I can access to my audiences, whether from my past or research. I have a mandate to open the children’s…

Discussion about Humanities at Marymount University The event at Marymount University was well organized and facilitated by the institution. The seats where the students and the professors were supposed to sit were well arranged to accommodate a large number of learners. Every individual who attended the event was given a leaflet detailing the aspects of humanities that were supposed to be discussed in the conference. From a planner’s point of view, I think that giving the flyers to the students allowed them to have a prior understanding of what was to be discussed at the conference. This prepared them psychologically hence inspiring their meaningful contributions. Additionally, the conference was being moderated by a humanities professor who was well known by the student’s. This was a positive step in encouraging most students to participate in the discussion. From an attendee’s perspective, the event was exciting to me. Since it was held in a calm hall, there was no disturbance from outside. The sitting arrangement was also excellent, where students would closely sit with the professor’s. Student’s in different years were also…

What is the best way to pay independent contractors? An independent contractor is an individual or business owner who does work for another company or another individual on a contract basis. An independent contractor is not considered an employee of the company where he/she works. Basically, the independent contractor is not under the direct control of the company. When a worker is an independent contractor, the employer can control only the quality or result of the job, not the method through which work is done. The independent contractor must however, still meet the employers’ standard for them to get the job. When the worker is an employee, the payer has the mandate to control how the output occurs. The employee enjoys benefits in their pay like health coverage, while the independent contractor has to fend for themselves as their payment is not inclusive of such benefits. Unlike an employee, an independent contractor does not work regularly; they work when they are required to. An example of an independent contractor is a cleaning company that works for an office. The cleaners…
Downsizing in Achieving Sustainable Construction Development Aim Construction activities in the United States have increased drastically in the past decade. It has been accompanied by an increase in the amount of construction and demolition waste, which has created an environmental problem considering that the level of reuse and recycling of the waste is low. There is, therefore, a need to develop strategies and motivate construction managers to come up with plans to solve the issue. The composition of construction and demolition waste allows for a high degree of recyclability hence improved sustainability of construction. The lack of practical methods to assist in downsizing to achieve Downsizing in Achieving Sustainable Construction Development is rarely practiced in the construction industry, which is a significant consumer of energy and natural resources (Ibrahim, 2016). It has been noted that the construction industry produces high levels of waste, which is unacceptable. In the past few years, the industry has noticed the importance of taking care of the environment and the impacts associated with the waste it generates during the demolition of old structures and the…
