COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION Conservation refers to scientific thinking that allows a person to determine that a certain quantity will remain the same regardless of modification of the container, shape, or perceptible size (Asante & Hanson 28). AccordingJean Piaget, the conservation abilities in children, is absent when a child is between the age of 2-6 but present when a child is between the age of 6-12. The conservation tasks test the children’s abilities to recognize some properties are invariant after an object undergoes physical transformation. Cognitive development has characteristics whereby a child focuses on a single, salient dimension of height or length while ignoring other vital attributes of an object. According to this study of conservation of number, I based my research on Piaget’s theory of cognitive development. In my study, I used two children, a girl, and a boy, both of them coming from different schools and different municipalities. I selected from different schools and locality in order not to make a judgment from only one perspective. They were both in lower primary classes, ages 6 and 8. My study…

Class and Politics Information in Civic Education Student Name Institutional Affiliation     Civic education involves educating students on democratic policies and allowing the students to take part in classroom demonstrations of real-life democratic activities that take part in their communities—the proven practices framework advocates for the use of several modules in civic education. The modules include discussing current events, learning about democratic policies, social-emotional learning, information on news media, public service, and participation in institutional leadership (Levesque, 2018). However, a follow up on the curriculums used in different schools and states indicates that instructions and discussions based modules were more common than activity-based modules. Furthermore, information on politics and social class is not included in the curriculum, which leaves a knowledge gap because civic education helps students attain important education regarding the socio-political systems in their country. In 1996, APSA formed a task force on civic education, which called for action on reduced public participation, political efficiency, and the inability of Americans to form organizations that led to alarm about the democracy’s feasibility in the USA. American Political Science…

Arranged Marriages Vs. Love Marriages Introduction The debate on arranged marriages versus love marriages has raged on for decade and as from the time that the notion of marrying for love becomes a common practice in the society. Within the contemporary society, there has been a growing observation that the arranged marriages have given away to the love marriages as a result of the fast changing levels of education of the population, as well as the increment in the aptitude for women to exercise choice with regards to relationships and marriage. On the other hand, the arranged marriages have also been observed as a key failure on the woman or the man’s part to individually find their marriage partner. This, therefore, raises questions on the implication of two types of marriages. According to Middlemiss (2017) love marriage refers to a situation in which two persons opt to marry for the benefit of love as opposed to basing their marriage of aspects such as religion, familial background, caste, economic background and social status amongst others that are entailed in match making.…

Are We Teaching Composition All Wrong? By Joseph R. Teller OCTOBER 03, 2016 Adam Niklewicz for The Chronicle Review   My students can’t write a clear sentence to save their lives, and I’ve had it. In 10 years of teaching writing, I have experimented with different assignments, activities, readings, approaches to commenting on student work — you name it — all to help students write coherent prose that someone would actually want to read. And as anyone who keeps up with trends in higher education knows, such efforts largely fail. For a while now, compositionists have been enamored of a pedagogical orthodoxy that assumes the following: Composition courses must focus on process, not just product. Students should compose essays that tackle complex issues rather than imitate rhetorical modes (as in the much-maligned “current-traditional” pedagogy of years past). Writing and reading instruction should be combined in the same course. After years of experimenting with those three principles, here’s what I’ve learned: They rarely work. First, a simple truth: Students do not revise. This cuts to the very heart of how most of…

Early Childhood Special Education Early childhood special education portends a free primary and peaceful progress and improvement of the child’s character and behavior, and this is conferring to the pace and requirements of the child. The early education accorded to a child must consider and ensure that the differentiated stimulation of children targeting the academic, emotive, social, and physical advance of every child. Early childhood particular education policies and practices are designed by contending images and treatises of the young child (Roopnarine, Johnson, Quinn and Patte, 2018). Therefore, this paper analyses four major perspectives that have been integral in early childhood special education. The first perspective is the developmental perspective, the early years of childhood are determinative of children’s long term views and that it is one of the ancient persistent and significant aspects modeling the early childhood dogma. Moreover, it entails programs targeting involvements in social and economic drawbacks and an array of difficulties and a deterrence of undesirable outcomes for the prosperity of children. However, the repercussions are expressed broadly, which includes assumptions of the curriculum and pedagogy…
