DB#11

DB#11 Name of Author Institution Affiliation     While it could be difficult sometimes to differentiate between English Language Learners (ELL) with Language impairments and English Language Learners with merely grammatical and phonological errors, various factors could help an individual to distinguish the two groups (Goldstein, 2004).  These aspects of distinction include fluency, articulation, the effect of the first language, and different vowel and consonant systems. The ideal example to explain this situation would be the variation that exists between an English learner with a Spanish origin and an English learner with learning impairments. This discussion attempts to explain the unique phonological and grammatical characteristics associated with typically developing ELLS and ELLS with language impairment. Many differences may be revealed while comparing the phonologies of English and Spanish even though they share similar alphabets. These differences could influence Spanish-speaking children who are learning English. ELLs who have internalized the English phonological system may try to transfer what they already know in Spanish to English. Besides, Goldstein (2004) explains that significant differences are…

Baby Talk

Baby Talk Many mothers often use baby talk in communication with their young kids and babies. The conversation involves talking in a variety of pitches, switching them between lows and highs. Some scientists have examined this behavioral phenomenon that is common in mothers to understand the contribution of these patterns of speech in children’s language acquisition and speech development. Studies have also included an investigation of if fathers even modify their expression when communicating with babies as mothers do. Most people feel it welling up from within of about a six feet baby. The irritating sing-song inflection. The repetitive sounds and exaggerated vowels. It is impossible to avoid baby talk in many cultures. Language acquisition is language development in kids. By the age of six, most children usually have mastered most of the first grammar and vocabulary of their primary language. Baby talk helps young toddlers and babies in learning how to speak. The slow and exaggerated sound and the exchange of pitch between high and low holds the attention of babies. It also gives them a clue on how…

The language experience approach The language experience approach is often used among second language learners to foster their skills in reading and writing. The method is basically used to assess the student’s understanding of the materials offered to them during the previous lesson. Their understanding is usually measured by their ability to remember and vocalize the content that had earlier been presented to them. The group session is preferred as opposed to the use of a single learner to ensure that the significance of background understanding is reinstated. The learners are taught the language using objects that are readily available in their setting, a critical approach to develop their vocabulary. The presentation by Michelle Driggs Kindergarten on the language experience approach is, in my opinion, an effective way of making sure that children understand the respective language and the associated vocabulary. The presenters have primarily divided the experience into two sessions. On the first day, the learners are introduced to the learning material and thoroughly taught about it. The teacher uses a pictorial presentation to make learning more accessible. In…

Thank you note Dear Ms. King, Ms. Nassera and Ms. Zzuniga, I am writing to express my gratitude for your contributions to making my student teaching experience everything I hoped it would be. You taught me so much during our interactions. The examples that you gave me were handy and have enabled me to make great strides this semester. You were patient with me throughout our time together to ensure that I got the most out of our interactions. Most importantly, I felt loved and appreciated because of your kindness. Your creativity was inspiring. Your program is more than excellent, and I could not wish for a better one. Your organization skills are what stood out for me because I could tell that the team was very well planned, and everyone worked hard to make their contributions. I have seen how well teams can work if the people in them are as motivated and well-intentioned as you all were. In the future, I hope that I find my place in a team as pleasant and organized as yours. You were…

In learning, you will teach. In teaching, you will learn Although I am a business owner, I did not concentrate much on content writing skills. As 1st task is to write 1000 words article on what I learned in 1st class, my thoughts are like, ‘oh my god, I should write now!’, But after completion, the story changed. My energy multiplied for the next online class to begin.   I am happy to inform you that I scored 81 in the first assignment. I want to say thanks to team Deepak for review and feedback. They told me to give a valid conclusion. My co-intern Krishna Prashanth advised me, Hemingway editor. Taking input and suggestions into consideration, I am writing my next article.     As I am 2 minutes late to join the class, I missed the link of the intern’s facebook group, yet I got it in the chatbox. One important point I want to make is that Deepak always makes sure that the class is more interactive. I chose 90% when he asked to guess the percentage…

Christian Behavior Belief in God controls people’s minds in every aspect of life. Consequently, Christians are supposed to live a given set of behavior. According to Baloch and Razaque, religion can promote various aspects of life by controlling social support, healthy behavior, and psychological state (300). Control is possible because of the high number of Christian believers who share the same values. There are more than 2.1 billion Christians globally, and this number has a significant effect on influencing Christian behavior (Baloch and Razaque 300). Since the ministry of Jesus, leadership has played a crucial role in disseminating Christian values. Apostle Paul took the position and visited many places writing letters to the people on Christianity codes. The word of God does not change, and it is essential to look at some of the expected Christian behaviors in a relationship, social life, and attributes like humility, persistence, and patience. Bible has a lot of teaching regarding human relationships. Form the creation of Adam and Eve, God made social interaction sacred. The transition from one stage to another is often signified…

Can we forgive the unforgivable? According to Cosmopolitanism and forgiveness, genuine forgiveness is an internal logic and, therefore, is not limited to the impossibility of human nature.   From this argument, it is clear that Jacques Derrida defined forgiveness as one’s ability to forgive unforgivable due to the extreme extent of evil committed against humanity.  Derrida, in this book, argues that extreme evil to any human being without any form of justification, which at all should not be forgiven, needs to be forgiven. These mean that genuine forgiveness is the forgiveness that forgives all evil, which has been committed without any justification. The general perception created by Derrida is that forgiveness needs to allude to logic and not ethical consideration of humanity. Ethic questions the motive and repercussion of the evil deed, thus minimizing the chances of forgiveness. In such a context, this paper will explore the question of whether we can forgive the unforgivable. The ability to forgive any imprescriptible crime that has no status or limitation requires unconditional willingness to forego the harm inflicted by the perpetrators of…

Sleep deprivation Introduction Sleep deprivation, also recognized as insufficient sleep or at other times, sleeplessness refers to the condition of not having enough sleep. It is worth noting that sleep deprivation can be either chronic or acute and may, to a great extent, vary widely in severity. It is significant to learn about sleep deprivation as doing so helps one to identify the causes of sleep deprivation, including how this negatively affects people in society. As far as this is concerned, it becomes imperative to note that there is no questioning the significance of restorative sleep, and as such, a certain amount of attention is necessary, especially when it comes to managing as well as preventing sleep deprivation. Background It is worth noting that sleep deprivation happens to be among the most common, but yet frequently overlooked as well as readily fixable health challenges. Studies indicate that about fifty to seventy million Americans chronically suffer from sleep deprivation, something that highly hinders the normal day-to-day functioning of the body hence affecting health as well as longevity. Even though sleep deprivation…

We Know What Works in Teaching Composition Adam Niklewicz for The Chronicle Review By Doug Hesse JANUARY 03, 2017 When I came to the University of Denver to start a campus writing program in 2006, I heard many faculty members say, “A lot of my students can’t even write a decent sentence.” So when I read Joseph Teller making much the same assertion in an essay last fall, “Are We Teaching Composition All Wrong?” I recognized hyperbole when I saw it. My response to that sort of exaggeration 10 years ago — joined by my 20 new colleagues in the writing program — was to gather and analyze a corpus of 500,000 words of student writing from classes across the campus. We found that, in fact, well over 90 percent of the sentences coded clear and error free. Faculty members wanted to see better student writing (and I surely acknowledged and valued that desire), but it was clear that merely fixing sentences wasn’t going to achieve that end. There were larger issues: Students needed help developing and deploying their ideas and matching their…

Teaching and Learning History             History is always regarded as a boring subject among students. However, when the teaching and learning process of history is enforced in the actual historical context, the topic of history as a boring subject will no longer be there. This is because history teaching and learning concentrates on the mere presentation of facts and entails the inquiry skills regarding history-thinking skills. In the present high-stakes, the accountability-oriented curriculum, the notion of teaching discipline-specific practices in social studies and history is one of the best ways to contribute to historical thinking in K-8 classrooms. History teaching and learning processes concentrate on historical thinking skills. Competence in historical thinking skills allows the students to think critically, to grasp the criteria of history, to observe historical events emphatically, to assess the sophisticated and abstract ideas, and to address ways in which the historians construct the previous events using proof to launch historical significance. Historical Thinking and Skills Required To Think Critically Teachers are the main stakeholders that change how history is practised in academic institutions. To assist the…
