Annotated Bibliography on Approaches to Teaching the Plays of August Shannon, Sandra G., and Sandra L. Richards, eds. “Approaches to Teaching the Plays of August             Wilson.” Modern Language Association, 2016. The play, Fences was written by August Wilson. The article by Shannon and Sandra evaluates the theme of love and relationship, as revealed in the play. The author explains how the heated dialogue between Troy and Rose at the front porch of a shabby shack builds the theme of love and relationship. In Act One, scene four, Troy and Bono relate their childhood life stories. The painful memories enhance the understanding of the challenges African-Americans undergo. Troy reveals that his father did not stay with one woman for long. As a result, Troy grew up without motherly love. When Troy was fourteen years old, his father noticed the girl Troy and affection on. Troy’s father raped the girl, which terrified Troy. Troy says, “sometimes I wish I had not known my daddy.” (Shannon & Sandra, 5). The scene showed complex relationships that existed between father and son in the…

Learning and Teaching angles of Geometry Introduction To effectively teach mathematics, mastery of the subject matter, understanding of the reasoning of students and mathematical concepts is required, and knowledge of the different strategies of instruction(Ball &McDiarmid,1990; Fauskanger,2015; Harrington,1999). The conceptual approach rather than an instrumental approach should be used by teachers in answering students’ questions(Borko & Putman,1996; Tchoshanov,2011). The conceptual approach focuses on  “understanding the meaning of mathematical representation, explaining the reason why certain algorithms and procedures work in particular situations and establishing the connections between mathematical concepts instead of only facts and procedures.” However, the master of subject matter is not sufficient for one to be an effective teacher (Shulman,1996). Teachers need to have a clear understanding of what they know and how they teach(David & Simmt,2006; Mason &Davis,2013). In-depth knowledge of the topics students have difficulty grasping is required and the strategies needed to mitigate these challenges because a teacher’s knowledge affects student’s conception(Tirosh,200). One of the key components of  the mathematics curriculum is Geometry(Common Core State Standards[CCSSI],2010;Ministry of National Education[MoNE],2013;National council of Mathematics[NCTM],2000).This is because ” geometry…

Professional attitude I have seen others using the standards by applying current best practices in treating older people. They base their decisions on the treatment that they area to administer on older people based on the available evidence.  They use information form case reports, scientific principles, and the opinion from experts.  To guarantee autonomy wellness and comfort of the patient, a nurse is involved deal with their negative attitude about older people. the dignity and the autonomy of older adults are often being undermined in the healthcare setting.   However, by nurses dealing with attitudes and having the right education, they are able to give the patient autonomy and conform to quality healthcare.   Furthermore, I have seen nurses provide older people and their caregivers the chance of making their choices without any influence as a way of increasing their autonomy.  To ensure the holistic wellbeing of the person and to have a person-centered care, nurses are involved in not addressing the present needs of the person which is insufficient. Still, they look at the person as being an entity comprised of…

Richard Wagamese and Novel “Starlight,” When he was working on the Novel “Starlight,” Richard Wagamese passed on aged 61. He did not even have a chance to complete writing the book, but regardless of it being raw, it is one of the most beautiful books he wrote, leaving his audience with some intense anxiousness. It is a bittersweet work to read regarding the storyline and the fact that there will be no other chance to read on the works of the great novelist Wagamese. The Novel is a contrasting story of love vs. hate and good vs. evil, traits that can be taken from two distinct characters in his work, Frank Starlight and Jeff Cadotte. From the story, Jeff is a very abusive man. He cares less about anything that has to do with his family. His daughter and wife (Winnie and Emmy) do not find the value that they would like to find in a father and husband. At the beginning of the novel, Emmy is moving stealthily towards the cabin where she was living with Jeff Cadotte, her…

the readings of Lu Xun’s works From the readings of Lu Xun’s works, the national and international influence of the people was one of the ideas that stood out. The political (governmental) influence is seen as the community follows confusion teaching, mosaic laws, and traditional ideologies as required by the authority. The leadership in China determined what the people would do, which can be seen by the administration classifying the people and identified those that will study and sit for the exams. The fact that there were no female leaders made the community view women as inferior in comparison to the women. As a result, the women were oppressed and deprived of some rights and freedom by the whole community. Another significant influence was from foreign nations. The community, though they resisted the signing of treaties with other countries, the superpower nations such as Britain fought them. They accessed and ruled some of the critical departments of the government. Another international influence is western education. Although the Chinese had their form of training, western culture education plays a significant role…

Teaching Students about Difference Through Fiction   This very situation emboldened Natalie Weaver, a woman whose child has severe cranial-facial abnormalities, to start a campaign on Twitter to consider disability hate speech. Due to her work, Twitter recently added hate speech towards the disabled to their reporting feature (Cassidy,   2018). Unfortunately, situations like this the one this mother experienced are not unique. Despite assertions that bullying is just kids being kids, the behavior actually comes from not understanding differences, disabilities, and specialness – a problem parents, educators, and others   who work with children can solve; one way to do this is through fiction. The K8 School District should require middle school English classes to read a book dealing with disability because the conversations these books raise help to reduce bullying and encourage inclusion.   Bullying is a broad concern because schools serve a variety of special populations. While bullying occurs everywhere, children with disabilities experience it more frequently. Many student populations with differences are bullied at a higher rate than the general population. In 2013-14, the average of…

Old Testament covenants Covenants Introduction Ideally, a bond is an agreement between two or more groups of individuals regarding an issue. In biblical perspectives, covenants occurred between critical individuals and God. Examples of the people included Abraham, Moses, Noah, David, and Jeremiah. However, some of the agreements became fulfilled in the New Testament. Such include the case of the new covenant with Jeremiah. In this paper, an annotated bibliography of five sources concerning the contracts in the Old Testament will occur. Moreover, their benefit regarding the benchmark assignment will also get discussed in this paper. Discussion Resource one McComiskey, T. E. (2019). The Covenants of Promise: A Theology of the Old Testament Covenants. Wipf and Stock Publishers. Original summary and explanation In the book, McComiskey describes the covenants as either promissory or administrative. For instance, the Abrahamic bond gets described as promissory, while the Mosaic treaty is administrative. Thus, the agreements become outlined as “bi-covenantal” following their occurrence cases and application in different contexts. The author also describes the fulfillment of the covenants regarding the teachings of Paul and Jesus. Therefore,…

Singing as A Teaching Technique for Children Introduction Multiple teaching techniques can be used by the teachers to enhance learning in childcare centers. One of the analytical methods that can be used is singing (Fink and Marxer, 2019). Singing is the act of performing music by making a sound. The act of singing serves a significant role in developing emotional as well as impacting particular knowhow to the children below two years of age. Singing should be used in childcare centers to educate the children on how to speak. Songs are also used to calm the children. Different songs are used depending on a particular time, for example, during Storytime, pick-up time, or nap time. Another strategy that teachers use is encouraging the children to do better. Staffs allow the children to handle some challenging activities through verbal encouragement, non-verbal help, and praising (“Praise, encouragement, and rewards,” 2017). Children are encouraged to improve in certain areas. Thus, making them do better in the future. Singing, encouragement, helping, and praising are some of the important learning practices in childcare centers that…
