Homology modeling of the Taurine transporter Introduction Cell fate, cell migration, cycle regulation, cellular metabolism, and intracellular signaling are profoundly affected by cell volume control imbalance. In contrast, vital cellular processes, for example, increase in cell volume is often considered a replica for migration and mitosis (), which is triggered by a shift in cell volume, while cell apoptosis triggers cell shrinkage (). Often, cell volume preservation incorporates active uptake of ions and passive release of organic osmolytes that is influenced by the net locomotion of osmolytes, which is osmotically followed by water. The process of changing intracellular ionic surroundings or membrane potential through rapid extracellular osmolarity changes is useful in avoiding cellular dysfunction due to accumulated organic osmolytes and ions during cell shrinkage. This process is known as RVI or regulatory volume increase. Alternatively, the RVD or regulatory volume decrease is the process due to cell swelling that results in the release of the osmolytes [7, 8]). As such, Taurine can be defined as one of the primary semi-essential organic osmolytes with abundant β-amino sulfonic acid that is used…
Five Best Neighborhoods in Katy, Texas for Raising Kids The City of Katy, Texas, is situated West of Houston and is popularly known for its heritage and the small-town vibes. The city of Katy has come to be recognized as one of the best Houston’s suburbs thanks to the proximity to a major job center, excellent school, fantastic shopping centers, limited flooding, and exceptionally well-planned communities with golf courses and parks. However, few people know how much Katy has grown recently. The greater Katy, the regions within the Katy ISD boundaries, is considered bigger than Richmond, Tallahassee and Pittsburgh. The price of land in Katy has increased by more than 92% over the last decade due to a 58% increase in the quantity of Katy home sales. Grand Lakes This is a beautiful community that span a rea of 1200-acre to the south of Katy. The community is located 8-miles south of the city center. The Grand Lakes community is known for the great atmosphere and the number of good performing schools. This community is served by four of the…
Repairing or installing a fence in your compound A fence is a wall around one’s compound or a piece of land to prevent access of unauthorized people to your property without using a gate. Traditionally, people used to plant flowers and trees and term it as fence. In this generation, there are several types of fencing, such as chain link, picket, or even privacy fence. Every homeowner needs security in his compound, and one of the best ways to ensure you are living in a secure place is the fence surrounding your home. For privacy purposes, you need a big wall that people won’t be able to pass through your compound the way they want or see what is happening inside. If your fence is broken and needs repair, you need to call a handyman who will come and repair it for you professionally. Factors to consider when installing or repairing a fence Before deciding on how to repair or install a fence in your compound, you need to observe the following factors; Know what you want Before deciding to…
What’s the Fracking Deal? The use of natural gas for the generation of electricity is expected to increase by 60% in America over the next 25 years (Jackson, Vengosh, Carey, Davies, Darrah, O’sullivan, and Pétron 329). A significant proportion of the natural gases are extracted using the fracking process. This paper argues that the cons of fracking outweigh the pros when it comes to the health of the masses and the negative effects on the environment. There are many benefits associated with shale drilling. To begin with, natural gases act as a crucial source of electricity. Their use in energy production decreases the demand for the utilization of fossil fuels. At the same time, natural gas has nearly half of the carbon emissions of coal and no mercury (Espectas). This suggests that shale drilling has lesser environmental effects in comparison to the use of coal in the generation of electricity. Besides, the United States has large volumes of natural gases (Espectas). This means that shale drilling may reduce or eliminate the United States’ reliance on energy sources from other countries.…
Field Trip to Griffith Observatory Report My attraction to visit Griffith observatory was due to its scientific aspects. Besides, it is one of the most iconic landmarks in Los Angeles. Initially, I had heard stories about how movies were shot in the area because of its spectacular location, but I never had the opportunity of visiting it in person. On February 5th, 2020, I decided to visit the famous Observatory to have personal experience and learn. I learned that the Pacific Ocean lies southwest while Hollywood is located to the south of the Observatory. The fascinating things I saw were the night view and the sunset. Indeed, the area had the best illustration of some scientific facts learned in class. Besides, the weather in the city was perfectly coupled with lights that were twinkling below. The trip was a perfect opportunity to understand the lessons learned in class practically. The most dominant concepts I learned were the scientific facts revolving around telescopes and lights. The Observatory was categorized into five different sections, namely; the Gunther Depths of Space hall, the…
Hospital Merger Hope Medical Centre, which was a private entity, served the residents as a non-profit organization for more than 80 years. The hospital was considered exceptional because of its ability to serve people well and the family-like atmosphere that was present in the hospital. Hope had a culture where all the doctors, nurses and staff members knew each other by the first name. The staff members would interact with each other openly, especially at the cafeteria. The hospital mainly depended on the fundraising campaign as its primary source of capital to run its day to day operations. Hope Medical Centre had an initiative known as the Beacon of Hope, whose mission was to inspire the members of the Hope community to achieve what was termed as exceptional caregivers. The American Medical Association named Hope as the nation’s most compassionate hospital, and this is what leads to the emergence of Beacon. All physicians, nurses, staff members and volunteers were required to utilize Beacon as their code of conduct. The beacon mission statement was prevalent on all the hospitals’ promotional…
use of lithium-ion batteries Renewable energy sources are essential in reducing the emission of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and the creation of a sustainable society. They are crucial in reducing our dependence on environmental pollutants such as oil, natural gas, and coal (Kotcher et al., 2019, P. 1082). However, the challenge with the use of renewable energy is their dependence on environmental conditions. Solar energy, for instance, is entirely dependent on sunlight, and if there is no sunlight, it becomes an unreliable source of energy. Such challenges demand the use of lithium-ion batteries, which allows for the solar energy to be harnessed and stored until when required (Choi et al., 2016, P.12). A lithium-ion battery is made up of three components, namely two electrodes and a chemical medium called an electrolyte. For the cell to generate electricity, a chemical reaction must occur, triggering the electrons to move from the anode (negatively charged electrode) to cathode (positively charged electrode).when the stored power is exhausted, the battery is recharged consequently sending the electrons back to the negatively charged anode. Globally, the…
Malcolm x journey to Mecca As Malcolm x went through his journey to Mecca, he had a strong belief that the black and the white race could never come together and live peacefully. Loving in America where racism was very high made Malcolm believe that white people are evil, and they have the privilege to enjoy good things in life while black people suffer under the expense of the whites. Through his journey in Mecca, he was able to change his mind about white people, after realizing that not all white people are evil. The journey changed his mind and transformed all his initial believes after seeing different people from different races coming together and working without barriers. “Never have i seen such a beautiful sight nor witnessed such a scene nor felt such an atmosphere” (378) are the words he used to describe the appearance of different races interacting without minding their racial differences. He later set goals to work for the principles he now believed. He explained that it was his first time experiencing color blindness in the…
