Family Violence Social welfare policy refers to the acts, rules and law that help improve the lives of people in the community. Family violence is when someone who has a personal relationship uses abusive behaviours to harm you, control and make you afraid. Forms of family violence include emotional and psychological abuse, social abuse, financial abuse, threats to injure or kill, controlling your spiritual or cultural choices and blaming you for not solving community and family issues(Statyen,2018). I choose this kind of problem because I have experienced it through my neighbour. She was exposed by this violence directly; his father physically injured her mother. During that time she was used as a shield and got injured. This violence affects society because those who come to witness the violence are members of the community, co-workers, service providers and all are members of society(Statyen,2018). They are affected mentally, physically and spiritual well-being. More than a third Americans have experienced family violence, according to the report by The Center for Diseases and Prevention, it shows that thirteen million people per year experience rape,…
Response to a prompt Introduction Patching is right when he argues that different attitudes and behaviors bring out different results in people. In this essay, the causes and effects of such practices and attitudes have been provided. Also, I have given my opinion on whether I fit into Patching’s classifications. The view has been supported by my experience relative to the textual passage. What has contributed to “Train Wrecked” and “Zombie Train Wrecked” student behavior? “Train Wrecked” and “zombie Train Wrecked” behavior has been contributed by the unavailability of parenting in homes and parents who are train wrecks and zombie train wrecks. Also, the conduct of such students has been dramatically influenced by the high school educational system. The teachers in secondary schools and some college professors always behave like these students. Hence, they create an environment where the students can choose to learn or not to learn. What are the attitudes and behaviors that are symptomatic of “Train Wrecks” and “Zombie Train wrecks”? Both Train Wrecks and Zombie Train Wrecks assume that they can effectively use ‘bad science’…
Book Report: Darkwater Summary Darkwater: Voices from within the Veil by WEB Du Bois is a highly critiqued but significantly informative manuscript on racism and America’s slow acceptance of diversity. Du Bois published this book in 1920. The book contains essays, spirituals, and poems that reflect on his ideas as a historian, artist, politician, and religious believer. The book inspires Americans to participate in economic, political, and social reforms for the minority in the country. From the book, one can discern Du Bois’ passion, pain and anger towards the discrimination of African Americans. The book begins with Du Bois’ credo, where he states his belief in God, and the ‘Negro’ race. The credo asserts his belief in similarities among whites, blacks, and browns, as he understands that there is no difference in their intellect of biology. He states that he has confidence in the pride of race, lineage and self, humility and hard work in service, and the devil and his angels who strive to stomp on Black, underprivileged men. Du Bois shows discontent in the way democracy was viewed…
POOR MEDICATION ADHERENCE IN TYPE 2 DIABETES Introduction Approximately 45 % of patients diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes (T2D) fail to achieve glycaemic threshold control. The failure has been attributed to poor mediation adherence. Polonsky and Henry (2016) document that poor medication adherence in T2D is widespread, and it is associated with increased costs of outpatient care, hospitalization, emergency room visits, increased mortality and morbidity, inadequate glycaemic control, and managing diabetes complications. This essay, however, links poor medication adherence to key non-patient factors, including lack of clinical inertia among health care practitioners and care in various health care systems. In T2D medication adherence, specific barriers, especially those that are potentially modifiable, should be identified clearly; approaches meant for poor medication adherence should focus on addressing negative medication beliefs and reduce medication encumbrances Critical Analysis Diabetes is a disease that affects the body’s ability to produce or be able to use the insulin that turns the food that we eat into energy. Worldwide, the prevalence of T2D is at epidemic proportions. Its incidence and prevalence and incidence continues to rise. According…
treaty-making procedure This week we focused on International Law, with a particular focus on the treaty-making procedure. We discussed the various types of international agreements, which include treaties, agreements, pacts, accords, covenant, and declarations. The highlight of this week’s discussion was the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties, 1969. The stages of the Vienna Convention include presentation, adoption, authentication, consent to binding effect, entry into force, and recognition. In accordance with this week’s reading, I chose an article by Ethiopian journalist Dejen Yemane Messele, which discusses the comprehensive agreement between Ethiopia, Egypt, and Sudan. The article interested me because it examines the flaws in the treaty-making process and recommends how to rectify the flawed procedures. Similar to our discussion in class, the article maintains that the three countries must adhere to the international treaty-making procedure before adopting and ratifying a valid trilateral treaty. According to the article, the origin of the dispute among the three countries was Egypt’s opposition to the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). Egypt argued that the construction of the dam on the…
Organized Crime in Canada Organized crime has been an issue of concern to the Canadian government for several years. The Criminal Intelligence Services Canada (CISC) has been employing a series of strategies to curb the rising menace. CISC has generally been providing annual reports indicating the extent to which they have managed to control the impact of organized crime. The cooperation of the Canadians has been needed for successful processes aimed at dealing with the issue of organized crime. Besides, the citizens are on the receiving end of the impacts of organized crime either directly or indirectly. CISC has identified crime classifications that have been prioritized in the fight against organized crime. Criminal Intelligence Services Canada has employed considerable efforts in a bid to address the issues of human trafficking, street gangs, and money laundering, which have been causing high levels for the government and citizens. Human trafficking can be viewed as modern-day slavery since people are forced to undergo inhuman practices in return for little or no favor. Human trafficking involves several activities, such as the recruitment and…
False Depictions on Marijuana Analyze this story: Coming home from work, I walked into a screaming match. My mother and my sister, Kharysma (Charisma) were arguing. I try my best not to listen to their arguments, but this argument caught my fullest attention. My mother and Kharysma were arguing because my mother found out that Kharysma had been smoking weed in the house. This only because we had just discussed weed in class. My sister said, “Ma, I really don’t understand why you’re wilding right now, like, weed is okay. It doesn’t have any major effects on your body, you know. Nothing detrimental. And … I think I saw a blunt rolled in ya room the other day.” My mother replied, “I dabble sometimes.” So Kharysma told my mother to not be a hypocrite and not to talk to her about what she does. My mother told Kharysma that even though she does smoke sometimes, she doesn’t do it in the house and Kharysma must respect her house. [unique_solution]The argument got more winded and my mother kept telling Kharysma that…

conduct two focus groups and/or sets of interviews for this assignment. You will need to conduct two focus groups and/or sets of interviews for this assignment. 1) Identify a community-based organization that works with youth and/or families (examples include but are not limited to: Boys & Girls Clubs of America, YMCA – the Y, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the United States of America, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), National Youth Rights Association). 2) Identify a small group of 3-5 adult family members whose children are experiencing poor learning outcomes. Conduct a focus group interview or (if too challenging logistically) individual interviews with the people whom you identified (family members and the community-based organization) to learn about their perspectives on community-school engagement. [unique_solution]Find out how these individuals believe they are currently engaging with and supporting the school and its students, as well as what these individuals believe would make them feel more a part of the school community. Other questions to consider in sparking your thinking on questions for…
interviewing one of the elite families in the country Audrey Winston For this assignment I decided to interview one of the elite families in the country Audrey Winston who has two siblings that is Dorothy and Elizabeth. This family is a good example of how life has been changing among different families in the past centuries and how it has affected the opinion and the attitude of others. However it is much obvious that the family patterns as explained in the interview displays a lot of social changes, inequality and family structures that has been happening in United States since the year 1980s.As seen from interview is that Audrey Winston our interviewee comes from the elite class whereby they have a wider range of social connection within their family structure. Audrey is married to a lawyer and some of her two sisters are still married to high class a professional personnel which means that the family ties are of high connection when compared to other family structure. Audrey comes from a well of family or rather a capitalist class of…
