Integrating complementary and alternative approaches of healthcare to the western medical model Integrating complementary and alternative approaches of healthcare to the western medical model is a reality that can be achieved. The sole purpose of both models is to enhance the healthcare of patients. The western medical model is guided by a set of scientific evidence which states how the human body should function (Kleinman, 2013). Likewise, it provides scientific solutions for the diagnosis of health issues and offers medical prescriptions. Complementary and alternative medical approaches, on the other hand, refers to non-standardized medical solutions (Micozzi, 2014). It includes methods such as the consumption of herbal medications and undertaking natural practices such as tai chi to calm the body and relieve it of stress. The two forms of medical models can be integrated since they both aim to treat patients of various health complications. Also, the fact that both models compensate for the other weakness means that incorporating them in patient treatment results in better and effective healthcare. For instance, while the western medication model is known to offer accurate…
Innovation in healthcare Healthcare organizations require innovation to promote patient safety and their employee satisfaction. In Kelly’s book, the ten faces of innovation, ten personas are presented as examples of roles health care managers, leaders, and all healthcare workers can improve innovation. The personas highlighted are not personality traits attached to an individual. The face that is most familiar in my professional life The cross-pollinator face is the face that is most familiar in my professional life. According to Kelly (2005), the cross-pollinator face of innovation explores other cultures and industries and translates the findings to fit the needs of their organization. For instance, in the organization I work for, research is often carried out about cultures of healthcare customers in our organization. For example, research on the factors affecting breastfeeding practices among lactating mothers was conducted, and it was found that cultural factors hindered women from breastfeeding their babies. Therefore, it provided a gap that would be educating women on the importance of breastfeeding.. The face that is least familiar in my professional life In the experimenter face of…

1895: Lower Healthcare Costs Act On 19th June 2019, Senator Lamar Alexander, Joni Ernst, and Patty Murray introduced the bill, lower healthcare costs act. The introduction of the bill aimed to protect patients from surprising medical bills, expand transparency in healthcare costs, reduce the cost of prescription medicine, and improve investment in public health (Gaffney & McCormick, 2017). According to the bill, patients will be protected from surprising medical costs through the use of benchmark rates, which resolve payment disputes between insurance plans and out-of-network providers. Background for the problem America spends most of its expenditure on healthcare compared to other countries globally, and most of the healthcare cost is incurred by the federal government (RR). In 2017, the U.S. spent approximately 3.5 trillion dollars in healthcare, translating to 18% of its GDP. Out of the $3.5 trillion, the federal government dedicated $1.5 trillion, which means the federal government spends almost 8% of its expenditure on health. According to (RR), it is projected that by 2028, the costs of healthcare will escalate to $2.9 trillion, which precisely means 9.7% of…
Counselling minorities. Enculturation is the process whereby a person learns about the traditions of their native culture and adopts it as their way of life. In most cases, children learn about a culture that requires no modification as it is the original content of the parent’s culture. On the contrary, acculturation entails learning two or more cultures, typically the dominant ones that are not their own. They then submerging in it for their normative practices. For instance, people who spend most of their time in foreign countries will be interested in learning a foreign language, food habits and clothing. In most societies, diversity is yet to get part of the social structuring. As such the has been social exclusions of the minorities in various aspects. The cornerstone of the inclusion of the minorities lies in shifting from the shared culture to the major culture. While making the shift, they often face challenges of community engagement. It is because the incorporation by the ethnic community has a significant impact on the way the minorities incorporate themselves into their cultural structure.…
Christopher Columbus Technically, Christopher Columbus did not discover the Caribbean because indigenous people had lived in the Caribbean islands before his arrival. Dozens of indigenous communities lived in the Carribean islands where they invaded by the Europeans. In fact, artifacts suggest that the earliest inhabitants of the Carribean islands settled in 5000 BC. Therefore, it is more appropriate to credit the ancestors of the indigenous people with discovering the Caribbean islands. Nevertheless, it is factually correct to state that Christopher Columbus was the first European to discover the Carribean islands when he arrived at the island of San Salvador on October 12, 1492. The arrival of Christopher Columbus to the Carribean Islands was followed by the massacre of entire indigenous cultures that had lived in the islands before the intrusion by Europeans. Christopher Columbus was the first European to discover the Carribean islands and lead to cultural destruction that changed the region forever. Primitive is a racially derogative term used to describe early inhabitants before their interaction with European culture. The term primitive suggests that the indigenous people were backwards,…
affordable and quality healthcare Introduction Accountable care organizations (ACOs) is a new policy developed to provide affordable and quality healthcare to the people. The strategy is aimed at reducing the cost of Medicare, improving the quality of medication, and general good health to the public. Hospitals under the accountable care organization share the consequences concerning the patient outcome and the expenditures. The ACOs enter into a contract with the payer, who pays the treatment bills. The organization helps in the provision of improved healthcare, reduced cost, and better healthcare. The public and private healthcare have adopted the accountable care organization to improve the quality of health by making it affordable to the clients. The Medicare shared savings program enables the clinicians to provide improved healthcare to the patients. The policy led to the improved healthcare sector, which is inclusive and affordable to the people (Weissert, Weissert & Weissert, 2012). For example, in America, it has over five million subscribers who have joined the organization. The health reform has been backed up by many people through the benchmarked contract. However, some…
better and universal healthcare for all the Americans The federal government did not regulate the health sector in the united states of America for quite a long time, and as a result, most government policies were centered around superficial policing that aimed at protecting the public through policies against health risks. Even with the policies, it is in records that America left the health matters to be handled by the private sector (Williams & Torrens, 2008). As a result of the least direct government involvement and intervention in the health sector, the health insurance policies created then were primarily based on private financing or employer-based, which did not make the health services available and affordable across all the social classes and majorly to the unemployed. Following the need for better and universal healthcare for all the Americans, in the later years dating to the years after 1953, there was improved government interventions and procedures that aimed at streamlining the health sector especially concerning financing and insurance plans which ensured that the health sector would be funded by the public (Charles…
Colonial Governments Introduction American colonies, which are referred to as colonial America or the thirteen colonies, encompass 13 British colonies. They were created in the 17th and the 18th centuries and form what is now known as the Eastern part of the United States[1]. The colonies exemplify the history of the United States over the years. As a way of unraveling our understanding of these colonial governments, the following study will assess the philosophical, religious, and economic factors that influenced these unique governments of the 13 American colonies. The study will further assess the influence of one or more factors on the American government that was created after the revolution. Compared to the European governments whose formation is largely credited to natural factors, the formation of the United States government is largely credit to artificial factors. While the people have been the greatest drivers and authors of the constitutionalism in the country, the colonization at the beginning of the seventeenth century on major colonies, also defined the country’s constitution in one way or another. While the governments from where the…
Turning self-motivation into a habit A person needs a conscious effort to develop goals and work towards them, and locus control determines whether an individual is motivated or not. A locus of control is the degree to which a person believes that he/she can control their lives. There exist only two types of loci of control, which are the internal and external locus of control. The internal locus believes that humans are in control of their fate, and the foreign control states that something else controls the outcome, and if a change is to be achieved, something or someone else has to initiate it. For example, in internal locus, change has to come from within, while the external locus, relies on the environment to influence change. Changing one’s locus of control is achievable by being more motivated and considering the internal locus more than the external locus. A person can influence change through avoiding pain and experiencing pleasure, rewarding oneself, reacting to consequences regardless of their severity, combining reward and punishment. According to this article, changing the way one communicates…
