Why I find Watching Football Least Appealing? Some would say entertainment is fun, while others would argue it leisure, but this idea of fun and leisure camouflage into joyous moments to various people. We add salt to distasteful and discomfort live through entertainment. Modern sources of entertainment are listening to music, watching favorite shows, reading books, going for a picnic, chatting with family, singing, and dancing. The type of entertainment which I find least entertaining is watching football. This essay illustrates why watching football is less compelling. I find watching football less appealing because the team is not a representation of me. Additionally, I do not know the players; they are from different parts of the world. Even if the team wins, I will not benefit from their achievement, then why bother cheering someone who will not put food on my table. You end up being called a spectator and wasting your time. Literary, why would a person watch a bunch of people being paid to exercise? The only people that enjoy watching soccer are those that live vicariously and…
Artist spotlights COUNT BASIE Count Basie was one of the most renowned African American bandleaders of the swing era. Most of his fans knew him as the Count or the kid from Red Bank, which were his nicknames. Count, whom both of his parents were musicians, was born on August 21, 1904, in Red Bank, New Jersey. Count spent much of his time in Red Bank, but he could occasionally visit New York for his performances. Since Count was not a natural composer, his main instrument was the piano. He used the piano in coming up with his orchestra that was characterized by a light winging rhythm. Count composed many songs which include but not limited to; “Good morning blues,” “John’s Idea,”; “Basie Boogie,”; “Good Bait,”; and many more. His styles were Big Band, Jazz Instrument, Piano Blues as well as Piano Jazz. He often appeared in customized outfits. Basie’s music profession began in 1927 after being inducted to be part of the Vaudeville performers. Basie became a bandleader in 1935 upon the death of Mote. He left for Chicago…
Johnny’s Pizza, Monroe, Louisiana Monroe is one of the most beautiful cities that offers so many things that range from education, culture, and sports. Louisiana is regarded as the Sportsman’s man paradise with beautiful sceneries ranging from Bayou Desiard and Black Bayou on the Ouachita River that is popular for fishing, boating, and skiing to the Russell Sage Wildlife Reserve for hunting. Importantly, Louisiana is home to beautiful restaurants, and renowned local chefs are famous for preparing the Louisiana cuisine. One such restaurant is Johnny’s Pizza. The restaurant started as a tiny store with three parking spaces in 1967 to become one of the largest locally owned pizza chain in Louisiana. “Johny Huntsman was always passionate about starting a business venture, but the only thing he was passionate about was making pizza, which he learned while in college,” said one of the employees I interviewed. Like James Wright, the employee I interviewed, described Johnny Huntsman, I was so amazed by the passion, commitment, and hope John had in the pizza business. People in Monroe had never eaten pizza before since…
Renaissance-era painting Unique shape attributes of the painting manifest with the genius in Leonardo refusing to paint the distortion created by a transparent orb, hence providing the contemporary world with a standard of differentiating faked duplications. The painting masterpiece by a transparent sphere with twinkling inclusions was Leonardo da Vinci intended to attract the gaze of the audience towards the character looking straight in the eyes (Goodrich, & Zhao, 2019). The Renaissance-era painting completed before the era of Anne of Brittany was intended to communicate symmetry through the positioning of hands, with one raised in blessing and the other palm on the orb, thus maintaining unique ratios. Line attributes in the 26-inch oil-on-panel painting are emphasizing on the symmetry of objects and light interactions off the rock crystals. By having been a master of painting distortions in famous masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa, the artistic genius presented a balance of light and colour perception through three bubbles in the painting, hence the inclusions. The crossing on the Renaissance-era robes dominates the space between the raised hand in benediction and…
Activity: Marching Band Among the activities I listed in my application essay, the marching band is my favorite, and I desire to continue engaging in it at the university. The activity was significantly influenced by my high school director, family, and my co-marching band in high school. The involvement in the marching band had a tremendous impact on how I relate with different people in society. The directors’ fundamental point in marching was based on respect. As such, it helped in building the moral norms in my life. Nonetheless, the marching band has helped in the development of positive relationships with different people in diversity. University is made up of people from different parts of the world. The marching band will thus enable me to relate with them in the way which can promote my education and subsequently, my career path. I also desire to continue with the marching band due to its musicality feature. This is quite relaxing due to music fundamentals used, such as articulation, phrasing, intonation, and tone quality. Nonetheless, the marching band provides room for the…
The immortal beloved What I liked most about the film was the romantic letter written by Ludwig Beethoven. I like the letter because it showcases the loving nature of Beethoven. Most people hated him and thought he was not capable of love because of his rude and obstinate character. His brother Nikolaus said that Ludwig hated women and so he was not capable of loving them. Although Ludwig loved his nephew Carl, their relationship turned sour after Ludwig pressured the boy too much. The letter, however, proves the people wrong as it was evidence of the loving and romantic side of Ludwig. I also liked how the message was read several times in the film. The ending where Johanna was reading the letter was most appealing. It was a harsh reality for Johanna when she realized that Beethoven was late for their meeting because of the storm and not because he did not love her. I did not understand whether Karl was the son of Ludwig. In a flashback by Johanna, she tells Beethoven that she was expecting his child.…
