Blue Collar Brilliance by Mike Rose In my opinion, Blue Collar Brilliance by Mike Rose basically, tries to paint to the reader the picture that there are various levels of work in society; jobs ran by people who are highly educated in contrast to jobs ran by people who are not highly educated. Mike makes this crucial comparison to explain the fact that we should not judge other people’s intelligence based on the kind of work they do. Through his family’s experience working in the blue-collar environment, he strives to show how a person working as a manual laborer is not any different from an individual that has a significantly high level of education. In the article, Mike Rose says, “My mother Rose Mesgalio (Rosie). Shaped by her identity as a waitress in coffee shops and family restaurants” (Rose,2009). In my opinion, this is, by far, one of my most favorites quotes in Mike Rose’s article based on my experiences in the working environment. Mike Rose, in his article, explains that individuals who hold blue-collar jobs are as intelligent as individuals…

Critical Thinking Does money motivate employees? Why or why not? Money motivates employees. Money is the foundation of different lifestyles that different individuals exhibit. Employees can use the money to buy things that can satisfy their desires and needs. Employees base the value of services that they offer an organization to the money that they earn. The symbolic value of money enables employees to feel more appreciated and recognized. Symbolically, money serves as a measure of the input that employees bring into an organization. Additionally, money serves as a direct reward for performance. Employees can only perceive their performance as significance based on the marginal amount of money they are offered. With money as a reward, employees are motivated to work better as this guarantees them job satisfaction. Why should compensation systems be equitable? How can an organization design an equitable compensation system? Organizational success highly depends on the kind of compensation system in place. Any employee would want fair treatment from the employer. Compensation equity becomes an essential tool for achieving organizational success. Paying employees fairly motivates them to…

American History and The Civil War Introduction The early 19th century marked the greatest revolution in the American history that gave rise to new America in the face of the world. The revolution came in a dynamic manner from radical territory transformations to demographic, political and economic changes. This created an optimistic and a vision enlightened nation in a self-governance state in every aspect including religion. It is also worth noting that this is the period through which the afro Americans underwent torture and brutality of slavery in the hands of the white man in the American land. The black oppression, the differences in the political ideologies and policies provoked the intense conquest and the quest for a better America. With the great enlightment among the Americans from the 18th century led to the push for the reforms at the highest level. Slavery still remained the greatest mystery in the push for these reforms.    Developmental Domains Throughout the early stages of childhood to adolescence, children are growing and changing rapidly. The growth that children are going through is grouped into categories, known as Developmental Domains. The domains are the adaptive domain, the social/emotional domain, cognitive development domain, motor development domain (fine and gross), and the communication development domain. The adaptive development domain is age-appropriate self-care and other behaviors in such a way as to adapt meaningfully to different circumstances. This domain focuses primarily on what the child can do on his/her own or self-help. For example, being able to say first and last name, being able to dress/undress oneself, toileting, washing hands, and self-feeding/drinking are all typical development for a four-year-old-child. Atypical development in the adaptive domain would be resists dressing, sleeping, and using the toilet, has trouble scribbling, and cannot feed themselves. The child that I observed showed signs of typical development for a four-year-old by being able to feed herself, washing her own hands after snack time, being able to take her coat on and off, and being able to say…

Office 365 Implementation & Management   What is Office 365? It’s hard to fit something so vastly exhaustive within a definition. But for starters, just know that it’s precisely what #MSOffice is except that it’s cloud-based and requires a subscription fee. It offers access to some of our favorite tools like Skype, OneDrive et al. Many limited to large business owners find Office 365 alluring, mainly since it doesn’t deplete their monetary resource as opposed to other tools. Moreover, Microsoft continually provides updates, and its admin portal makes it understandable for its users to enforce the same. But being a software admin is not a job for the lighthearted, and it takes time to get around to it. Although there are alternatives like the Google G Suite, that’s not why you are here.   What does Microsoft 365 offer? It mainly caters to business enterprises and for individuals for which there are respective versions which you can avail of. This piece will follow up the way it is implemented and managed. My Community Service at Camilus House I, Hanna Sammour, got the opportunity to volunteer at Camillus House for ten hours. The homeless shelter is based in downtown Miami and serves adults and children who lack a roof on top of their head. Along with offering shelter, Camillus House offers meals to the impoverished who lack a source of income. Since I have never volunteered before, I knew this was my chance to do some good for my community. The following narration will illustrate my experience at the shelter. Figure 1:The Logo for Camillus House I chose to volunteer at Camillus House since it offered me the chance to work with children. I love to collaborate with children since it gives me the chance to impart my life experiences on them. Additionally, this was a great opportunity to learn about psychology through observation. It is apparent that psychology relates to human experiences, so it was useful to view it in a different perspective since I got to observe children aged 4 to 10 ten years old as they horned their social…
