Cultural Anthropology should not Stop Trying to Model Itself as a Science Cultural Anthropology is defined as the study of the culture of human communities. It usually focuses on cultural variations among people in current cultures and societies. Culture is the way of life of everyday life shared by humans in a specific place or time. In this regard, anthropology gains scientific basis for combining numerous disciplines to achieve significant anthropological results. These results are seen when the well-known concerns of the application of culture and the use of academic authority and science are used in the case of fighting racism. While some authors maintain that cultural anthropology should stop trying to model itself as science, this idea should not be taken as such. Humanities and sciences have often appeared to contest for validity, as though, the two disciplines are two opposing ends. In this respect, the authors seem to provide contradictory ideas on the question of whether cultural anthropology should model itself as a science. According to Geertz (p. 238), cultural anthropology is well done through interpretation (p. 238).…
Risk Control Self-Assessment Risk Control Self-Assessment is a process of identifying risks in an organization. The RCSA reports are used to identify, manage, and mitigate risks in an organization. Each business units within the organizations are required to assess their risks separately and submit them to risk manager. The four significant risks in an organization are an inconsistent assessment of risks across various business units, non-standardized controls which leads to overlapping of duties and confusion among the employees during risk evaluation and compilation, disorganized and decentralized approach towards risk assessment leading to additional efforts and duplicate controls, the considerable time required to collect and compile the report due to which the data becomes outdated or invalid by the time the report is compiled and is ready for presentation. Since it is not feasible to automate the entire risk detection procedures, managers need to identify and evaluate the risks based on their intensity and evaluate them based on various factors. Risk Control Self-Assessment is the process by which companies identify and evaluate the risks associated with them. RCSA is a manual…
The Fine Line Between Self-Confidence & Cockiness By Derek Whitney review TDA: How does the way we see ourselves and others change the outcomes of how we deal with events or situations? The Fine Line Between Self-Confidence & Cockiness By Derek Whitney 8 Jul 2018 We all know people who sing their own praises at every work or social opportunity. You may sometimes wonder if they know something about self-confidence that you don’t. Perhaps their annoying habit is a sign that they’ve discovered some secret to waking up every day feeling ready to conquer the world. Truly, the line between self-confidence and arrogance can seem finer than it really is. Cocky or Confident? Cocky people do have confidence, but it comes from a different place than true self-assurance. Arrogance is one result of building self-esteem from outward sources such as financial privilege or constant praise. However, yank the external support system away, and the person’s sense of self-worth goes with it. You build true self-confidence from within and project it to the world. Confident people have a realistic picture of…
Self-drive Cars Annotated Bibliography Mladenovic, Milos N., and Tristram McPherson. “Engineering social justice into traffic control for self-driving vehicles?.” Science and engineering ethics 22.4 (2016): 1131-1149. Mladenovic and McPherson researched to assess how social justice will be adopted in the control of traffic when self-drive cars start dominating the roads. The study outlines the importance of addressing questions that arise from the engineering of social justice in the traffic transformation and attempts to sketch a preliminary framework for incorporating social justice in traffic control. The study further explains how new forms of traffic control technology will have implications for several dimensions of social justice. The implications covered in the study include safety, privacy, sustainability, efficiency, and equal access to social justice. The study focuses on the efficiency of the proposed social justice system as well as equal access by individuals using self-driven vehicles. The limitations that could be associated with the social justice system are further addressed in the study. The researchers propose the introduction of a priority based system that will give the users to select the priority levels…
Doing Nothing – Do-It-Yourself The sociological experiment I carried out mainly centred on the perception of individuals with regards to the public issues and personal troubles. The difference between personal troubles and public matters concern the view that the personal troubles tend to occur at the individual level in addition to being limited the reach of the individual’s biography, while the public issues often go beyond the individual and are mainly perceived as the joint values and interests perceived and felt to be under threats. Thus, it is regarded as a personal trouble in case an individual is not employed while several millions are employed; but a public issue in instances where millions remain unemployed in a nation. Being my initial sociology research, I believe that the experiment I carried out was eye opening especially with regards to matters relating to sociological experiments and how to go about them. Though I had no prior experience with regards to such experiments, I was able to carry it out successfully in spite of having come across a number of obstacles including…
Questions From the positive side to debaters Tannenbaum and carl`s arguments As Frank explains the experience that the slaves went through, he clearly shows how the British were taking advantage of the Negro slaves. This is so because, the British were not ready to grant the slaves an opportunity to preach the gospel amongst themselves, but put them in the first line to participate in wars whenever it arises. This indicates how more cruel they were since they did not want the slaves to come into self-realization and obtain their freedom but rather stay in slavery. This can be seconded from the fact that, as the British forbidden the slaves to marry, they were being denied a right to raise a family of their own. And for those who were lucky to have one, they were separated from each other in the account of paying their debt in exchange for a loved one. For this reason, why were the slaves escaping if the law was protecting them? From the negative side to debaters Carl defined the slaves as an important…
Self-assessment questions After completing the Emotional Intelligence test, I attained the following points 7 for Self-awareness 7 for self- management 8 for social control and 5 for relationship management. From the results above, I feel that I am okay with what I got in self-awareness, self-management, and social management. However, I was surprised by the results I got for relationship management because I know my self as a person who has a good relationship with others. I know how to handle people as well as giving others strengths, support, and inspiring them to enable them to keep moving. However, I need to improve in all areas to make sure at least I can get nine points in each area because no one is perfect for getting everything right. To improve my emotional intelligence, I need to utilize an effective way of communication by using a better means of communication, which will help me to understand better other people. Better communication will help me to know how to relate with others as well as being aware of what they like and…

The self In a Social World Growing up, I used to shy in front of people due to the lack of esteem and courage to face people. I always feel like people can see through me and know what I am feeling. Sometimes compared to others who have a good body physique and considered attractive than others, including myself, I usually think intimated and inferior and often feel less of myself. Many are the times I do somethings to have that attention to myself. At home and within my social life, I blame people even for the wrong things I have caused. For example, at one time back home, I broke a window, but I still had to blame my brother as the reason he made me break the window. However, with the classwork, I have discovered it is a social psychology issue caused by social cognition where one feels inferior and always compares themselves with others. Social cognition theory explains and enhances the understanding of the central social psychological topics such as attitudes, personal attributions, self-identity, perceptions, prejudice, and…
The pursuit of self-fulfillment on “A Paul’s Case” by Willa Cather Introduction The society is made up of many young people struggling to achieve their self-fulfillment regarding issues such as fame, prosperity, and riches. They engage in any form of action, either good or bad, as long as they achieve what they desire. Just like the case of Paul, the pursuit of self-fulfillment is mainly achieved through egoistic behaviors (Cather, Willa & Oresick 16). Peoples’ lives are entirely based on opera and imagination in their quest to hide the underlying low self-esteem. Paul’s Case-based on the collection of The Pittsburgh Stories of Willa Cather highlights the story of a young boy struggling to fit at home, school, and the world. The case symbolizes ultimate glamour and sophistication during Paul’s time in New York. Thus, one will focus on egoistic factors such as self-destruction, desire for prestige, and the development of remorse as a way of self-fulfillment. The pursuit of self-fulfillment in the case Paul’s quest for self-fulfillment was mainly based on his self-centered character. Self-destructive impulses lead him to escape…
