Student progress and self-reflection  Summary of Student Progress I did a pre-intervention and post-intervention on a student by the name Jana. Its primary focus was in first-grade mathematics on skip count by 5, since Jana is a first-grade student. In the pre-intervention on the curriculum-based measurement, the student was to answer 20 questions by filling in the missing value by skip count of 5. The student managed to score 8 out of the 20 questions; in the post-intervention test, the student managed to score 19 out of 20. There is a significant improvement in the student after post-intervention. There was some similarity between pre-intervention and post-intervention test, which impacted a development on the student. The student showed growth in handling the problems. The intervention phase on the first three CBMs that the student engaged in, there was improvement across all the tests. In the first test, the student had 12 incorrect, on the third test, he got seven incorrect, and on the third intervention, the student failed only four questions. The analysis shows the impact of the responses on the…

Building Healthy Self-Esteem Our relationship with the surroundings determines whether we have high or low self-esteem. For children, self-esteem matters most on how they socialize with other children. The level of self-esteem is determined by how kids are treated by their parents and the level of acceptance by other children (Berns, 2016). In this scenario, it’s evident that Simon is suffering from low self-esteem. As said, self-esteem is developed by how a child is accepted in the other group. For Simone, despite the effort she puts to be accepted by other children in their dramatic play, she ends up being offered the least interesting roles. Secondly, her parents are very “cold” to her. Her mother is too busy taking care of her infant sister while her dad has never taken her to school. Comparing her scenario with those of other children, she feels neglected and unloved, which lowers her self-esteem. Developing positive self-esteem to a child is essential for the healthy development of the kid. Children who have high esteem feels confident and can try new things and do to…

Review of Self Comes to Mind The main theme of Antonio Damasio’s book Self Comes to Mind is that the conscious self is the product of biological value. The book is meant for persons who are generally interested in understanding the concept of consciousness. However, the simplistic nature of title is misleading as the contents revolve around complex scientific concepts that only the scientifically-apt readers can grasp. The book is a reference book that intends to inform readers on how a one achieves the state of self awareness. In the book, Damasio explains that self consciousness comes about when one is aware of his or her respective body states, a process that is coordinated by the nervous system. He further states that the brain is able to establish a consciousness of self by gauging the pains or pleasures that the individual comes across. Moreover, he argues that the body has a separate consciousness system from that of the mind. He further argues that the mind does not overshadow the body’s conscious as it is the body that informs the mind…

Know the Organic Art to set yourself apart from the rest Your daily beauty products contain all sorts of dangerous stuff. Use these safer ones instead. Consumers often express a preference for skin products with organic and natural ingredients. The personal skin care market based on natural products has shown steady growth. Clinical and laboratory studies have identified activities in many natural ingredients that have potential beneficial activities for personal skincare, but there is a shortage of convincing evidence for natural product efficacy in medical problems.     What is there in it? Much of the recent literature reviews plant-derived ingredients, which may include herbs, roots, flowers, and essential oils, but natural substances in skin care products include animal-derived products such as beeswax and minerals. These substances may be combined with various carrier agents, preservatives, surfactants, humectants, and emulsifiers.     Why choose organic? Experience Nature! By using natural and organic ingredients, we are – in our own small but significant way by honoring mother nature, accepting her gifts, and using them to sustain and nourish our being. There is…

military self-interest as a factor resulting in a Military coup For a long time, people perceived that military coups no longer exists. However, in recent years in 2013 and 2014, Egypt and Thailand reminded us that the military could take part in political issues. The military is supposed to protect the state; it is difficult to understand that the same army can go against the government. For coups to happen, the military must meet specific qualifications, including; the Armed forces must have the capacity. The interests must also be genuine, the military must have some degree of popularity, and there should be no legitimate opponents. If the factors are absent, a coup may fail to happen, like the case of Turkey. This paper takes a keen look at military self-interest as a factor resulting in a Military coup. The work also compares the military coups in Nigeria and Brazil; and the utility theories explaining why they occur. To stage successful coups, self-interest armies only require one thing; the support of the public. The troops just need to convince a certain…

Self Assessment Summary I focused on choosing the emotional intelligence assessment, personality assessment, and the learning style assessment. The reason for selecting psychological intelligence assessment as it helps one identify how one gets to cope with self-development and self-management. It is the inability to regulate behavior that may lead one to temptations or failing to achieve goals (Brevers, 2018). It can also be referred to as the inability to resist urges or bad behaviors. Inadequate self-control is associated with various adverse effects on an individual.  It may hinder an individual from achieving their long-term goals as well as destroying relationships with colleagues and friends. Moreover, inadequate self-control may make it difficult for individuals to achieve some common goals such as regular exercising, losing weight, not procrastinating, eating healthy, saving money as well as shunning bad habits. There are numerous causes that may make and individual to have inadequate self-control. One of the main causes is the self-control dilemma (De Ridder & Gillebaart, 2016).  The self-control dilemma happens especially when an individual’s long-term values and goals contradict with short-term temptations. The existence of dilemmas of such kinds reduces the significance associated with instant reward while, on the other hand, increases the…
