Charlie Undone Preface This story was inspired by the need to raise awareness of marijuana use in high school. The narration centers on Charlie, a bright student, whose academic life was destroyed by his addiction to marijuana. Charlie’s story reflects the dangers a student is exposed to for smoking marijuana. Again, the story details the difficulty of identifying addiction, fostering continual substance abuse. I hope that the story cautions learners, parents, and teachers on the existing use of marijuana, and foster discussions on how to end substance abuse in school. Charlie Undone By now, everyone in school had heard of the fiasco that took place yesterday. Some people said the scene came straight out of the action film Fast and Furious. Charlie, my classmate, was being chased by his mother, brother, cousin, and uncle. From their sweaty foreheads and heavy breathing, it was clearly a long and rough chase. In contrast, Charlie, also tired, stood at a distance and seemed ready to run. After panting and catching their breaths, the chase resumed. Only this time, it was inside the school…
College Admission Appeal Letter Dear Dean, This letter is a formal request for you to reconsider my application at USC. My application was rejected last month, and the reason for the decline was that my SAT scores were not appealing . I am appealing with the hope of reinstatement for next semester. I am grateful for the opportunity of presenting my appeal. I understand that most admission decisions are final, but I had had extenuating circumstances which I believe would be worth a few minutes of your time. I hope that after reading the appeal letter, the school management will see how determined I am to join USC. When I sat for the exam, my father had passed away, thus leaving me to support my mother, who needed someone to help her get her life back on track. I am the only child, and i felt obligated to help her at that time, so I was unable to study. I knew my scores were low, which is why I retook the SAT exam. I was able to study and improved…

Folkloric adaptations in Korean cinema Folkloric adaptations in Korean cinema date back to the pre-war period. The earliest ones encompass adaptations of Korean legends and folktales in films, starting from the Japanese colonization of the Korean peninsula. These adaptations sent different cultural and political messages. One notable adaptation by Japanese film company was the adaptation of the “Chunhyangjeon” folktale in 1923 (Lee, 2005, 63). The folktale communicates a longing for a utopian community via its tale of an unwanted love affair between yangban (an aristocrat) and the daughter of a courtesan. The notion of eradication of the class barriers and end of the corrupt rulers are so prevalent in the Korean society that the tale has been adapted in cinema for more than twenty times since it was first adopted in 1923. Although the Korean cinema industry suffered between 1937 to 1955 due to the banning of Korean films and subsequent replacement with Japanese propaganda films in Japan’s invasion of China, an adaptation of “Chuhyangjeon” folktale, directed by Lee in 1955, inspired another boom in Korean film production (Lee and…
Doctors Should Intervene The article of interest, dubbed “Why Doctors Should Intervene,” reflects on what was covered on one of the topics in bioethics (Ackerman 1). From the introductory section, Ackerman’s discussion relates to what was covered under paternalism and patient autonomy. Paternalism was depicted as the action that restricts one’s liberty or autonomy, intending to promote his/her good. Additionally, patient autonomy is outlined as the right of patients to decide on personal medical care without the influence or interference of their care providers. However, the article takes a different approach while discussing the concept of patient autonomy with the argument that physicians should, to some extent, disregard the concept and intervene. The main theme of the article is entrenched on the claim that absolute observation of patient autonomy is not effective. It is on this aspect that the text aims to support the claim that true respect to autonomy necessitates the physician’s intervention to deviate from the patient’s preferences. While the objective of the relationship between a patient and the physician is to resolve the physical, psychological, social,…

The design, theme, colour, and style of furniture have to reflect the choices of the occupant. The style of decoration You need to decide on a style of decoration. You have two main…
Bowling of Columbine Michael Moore was triggered by the increased number of deaths caused by firearms without a civil war to film the Bowling of Columbine. The film, “Bowling for Columbine” explores the circumstances that led to the 1999 Columbine High School holocaust and the way of life that fostered it (Kerr, 64). The film drives home the painful reality that the United States has failed in gun control and in reducing gun violence. According to Moore, the main aim of the documentary was to see to it that there was no other school shooting, but sadly, many years down, there have been many more massacres. Five main points can be identified in Michael’s film. One, shootings are viewed as part of daily life in this society. At the start of the film, the Columbine shooting is considered to be a typical day. The gun culture overly spawned the Columbine shooting. The Columbine massacre was a consequence of the culture of a society that barely glorifies and values human life as compared to guns (Kerr, 60). Second, there are many…
