No Name Women by Maxine Hong Kingston Context I choose to analyze the first part of the passage, which is about Kingston’s aunt back in China, whose family tried to forget her name. This part of the passage is situated at the beginning of the text before Kingston resolves the war within herself, and the evolution of the female identity follows it. My reaction to the passage changes positively in relation to the scenes, characters, and narration that came after this part because they shift the point of view on the emphasis Chinese culture places on social cohesion. As a result, I can embrace the tremendous cultural diversity of women. Speaker The speaker in the passage is Brave Orchid, who is Kingston’s mother because she is narrating the story of her daughter for Kingston to make sense out of it. However, Brave Orchid is biased because her words are tinged with conservative disapproval of the No Name Woman’s behavior by portraying her as a woman of loose morals. Brave Orchid links the woman’s ostracism, humiliation, and death to her indulgence…
The Role of Women in Macbeth The play “Macbeth” by William Shakespeare presents a tragedy story of a soldier Macbeth who comes out as both a protagonist and antagonist in the same story. Macbeth is ambitious and with thirst, seeks for power forgetting his morals, and almost destroys the kingdom that he seeks to rule. Shakespeare employs a wide range of themes throughout the play and develops his characters around the main themes. However, women come out to play the most significant role in the development of the play. The protagonist, Macbeth, had initially been a good man who had managed to suppress his thirst for power. However, the involvement of women in Macbeth’s life changed the course of his life. Generally, the play “Macbeth” is built around six women who change the direction of the story on several occasions. Usually, Macbeth is an evil man, but his actions can be generally attributed to the influence of women in his life. Women are portrayed as characters who play an influential role in opening the eyes of the men on…
Rhetorical Analysis of Women Empowerment Time and again, ideologies are created, propagated, and then developed. The established ideas build a foundation for what is right and what is wrong in social settings. The ideologies can also be witnessed in the image and role of women in our society. Social norms created by traditional culture bring out women as being timid, beautiful, less trustworthy, and deceitful. Media, especially movies and television programs, promote such ideologies. The same media can work towards developing the set mindset people have about women. This paper will focus on examining the role of media in promoting the idea of women empowerment. Mass media can formulate and spread an idea to a vast population because of its extensive coverage and direct access to the final recipient. It can reach many people with the same message. Mass media has been identified to taint a bad image of women from its television shows, advertisements, and even movies. Women are presented as commodities and objects of desire. The women are rarely presented as independent and thoughtful individuals. Men have always…

sexual problems in women As women age, it is typical to experience sexual problems at some point. Such issues can result in painful sex or a lack of satisfaction for a woman or a couple. A little knowledge of these disorders helps in identifying, treating, sharing, or seeking professional help. In every three women, one suffers from some sexual problem. Some older women from a different generation may hide the issue out of embarrassment or societal limitations. But seeking help is the best option. Most of the following problems have medication. The first problem is suppressed sexual desire. This lack of sexual drive can be caused by numerous factors like hormonal imbalances, medical disorders, or a response to a specific medication. WOMEN INTERNATIONALISM Something New from the Reading From the reading, several new things caught my sight. One, I have learned that the women conference failed to go as expected. The reason why the meeting did not go as planned was that the atmosphere of Indian politics was not suitable for such conferences. (Armstrong, 2015)As much as Nehru was for the idea of openness towards the accountability of masses politics, the atmosphere of India never gave room for such activities. Besides, I have also learned that there were women delegates that were against the meeting. (Armstrong, 2015)A clear example is that of Renuka Ray, who stated that she supported the government for not letting the meeting to take place. Connection of the Reading to other Class Readings Like in the other class readings, these readings also state that in the year 1960, plans to hold another conference for women from Asia and Africa started. (Armstrong, 2015)And just like what we learned in class, this reading also confirms that the delegates were not sure whether a permanent body was appropriate to form…

Women, Power, and Agency Don Kulick is an anthropologist who in the narrative follows the lives of a group of prostitutes in Brazilian city Salvador. According to the book ‘Travesti’ by Kulick, travestis are a group of younger men who emulate the living lifestyle of women. Travestis uses injections to develop hips and breasts just like women. Kulick analyzes the various ways used by travestis to ensure that their bodies resemble those of women. Travestis believe that women have power in life because of the feminine nature in women and therefore, they make all necessary efforts to resemble like women. Travestis are interested in women nature, and they inject hormones in their bodies and industrial silicone to ensure that they possess wide hips, thighs, buttocks, and breasts to physically appear like women (Vartabedian, 2015).
