ANALYSIS OF SHREK’S CHARACTERIZATION In the movie Shrek released in 2001, the ogre Shrek is portrayed as an eponymous conqueror. He likes a solitary life in a peaceful swamp where ha later makes friendship with Donkey. Unlike most ogres, Shrek presents himself as friendly, even though his background is full of mystery. He expresses his sentiments on how others judge him as hostile at first sight compelling him to prefer living a solitary life. He also reveals that he had a father who once attempted to eat him (Isnawati, eta al., 61). The ogre lives in a murky green swamp having its house and an outhouse. The fact that he uses slugs as toothpaste is something that makes one begin doubting his claims of being harmless. Another subtle revelation of Shrek’s real character is the comparison of his attributes with onions. It reveals the contrast between the outside and the inside. His inappropriate sense of humor and pride in his agility and strength also shows his innate behavior, which he tries to hide(Crandall, 12). Further, his real character is of…
The Eroica Symphony The foundation of the classical music started from the ninth century as simple religious plainchants which had a limited pitch range and were monophonic. However, they were limited to monks, nuns and other religious groups. The plainchants evolved until Troubadours and Trouveres from France converted their poems into music, then Leonin and Perotin who composed polyphonic classical music. Afterward, the revolution of classical music continued through the Renaissance era (characterized by vocal and dance music), Baroque era (marked by solo voice and instrumental music) up to the western classical period which prevailed since the 18th century. During this era, different composers such as Carl Bach, Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Mozart, and Ludwig Beethoven surfaced into the industry with compositions characterized by different skills and styles such as musical notations and new playing techniques of music instruments. Plato’s Alcibiades Theme of Love Plato and Love According to Plato, the ultimate object of love is usually the pursuit of wisdom and immortality. Love is thus the central theme in Plato’s dialogue of the symposium. On this concept of love, Plato is mostly interested in love between two people who are of the same sex, for example, a young man and an older man. However, in his theory of love, Plato asserts that, “These kinds of relationships are not guided by romance and other sexual intentions” (Plato, 2015) He, however, wants us to distinguish between love and friendship and that people should concentrate on friendship because it is pure (Dickinson, 2016). He makes us understand the meaning of platonic love which entails that kind of relationship that is pure and spiritual. Plato gives us an example that if a girl and a boy hung out yet they are not boyfriend and girlfriend, this kind of love is the best because it is not physical. The theme of Plato’s Alcibiades truly implies the nature of love. The dialogue that Plato…

Critical Analysis of the Noiseless Spider Introduction A noiseless Patient Spider is a poem that is summarized in two stanzas. The first stanza is simply about the title of the poem, “A noiseless Patient Spider” while the second stanza looks deep into the soul of the poet and the activities of the spider. It tries to create a connection between different things and compared to the way a spider builds its web. This essay is aimed at providing a critical analysis of what Whitman means when he tries to depict his own soul using the noiseless patient spider. For a number of people, a literal noiseless patient spider is not exactly a good thing, mainly because many people find spiders to be weird creatures with scary eyes and a scary number of legs and especially because they bite and some are poisonous (Diehl, 117-132). It is for this reason that Whitman metaphorically uses a noiseless patient spider to represent an unchained soul, a soul which is lonely and hollow. He leaves the imagination of where would such a soul escape…
Poetry paper Task one; poetry writing exercise Poem writing exercises provide the poet with the benefit and opportunity to practice new and better forms as well as brainstorming. Also, it’s a great way of learning to write and refreshing the style of writing. An example of a writing exercise is one that requires the determination of a title and creation of a list downwards. This list might include fears, accomplishments among others which are later expanded, as an illustration, “incompetency feels like a fish in an aquarium, always trying to swim, hitting but just glass.” The use of similes comes in handy for inspiration purposes for example, “the leaves rustled like many whispered conversations.” Other exercises involve sensory observations, the description of a scene and the making of metaphors to come up with a complete poem. Task 2; the poetry foundation The poetry foundation developed from the Modern Poetry Association in 2003 which was after receiving a contribution from philanthropist Ruth Lily.
