Mariam Beerman: Collages 1965-2008 After a virtual tour of the Queens-borough Community College City University of New York art gallery (QCC), I choose to write about Mariam Beerman collages that are in the PowerPoint document attached. The QCC art gallery is an essential and educational and cultural resource. I love the artwork of Mariam Beerman because, in most of her paintings, she works to present brutality and political occurrences of our lifetime in a bid to point out the world’s injustice and bring them to an end (Beerman, 2020). What is more, the artist uses beauty and vigor, which inspires various painters all over the globe. In the long run, the combination of passion, emotional struggle, and creativity makes the works of Miriam a masterpiece. In all the artworks of Miriam, there are living creatures, such as human beings or animals. And this is one factor that made me love the paintings since they bring out an inner perception to present the future and the past effectively. From one of the paintings, Miriam paints one of the ten plagues stories…
The Meaning, Properties, and Powers of Amethyst Amethyst is a precious stone consisting of a violet and purple variety of quartz. The stone is so prevalent in the current world. Unlike other precious stones, the stone has been used for spiritual purposes, for healing, and cleansing. Amethyst also has therapeutic implications. It has been widely used as medicine. The stone is unique of its own. Logically, precious stones have been used as ornaments. It is evident here, however, that the rock, in this case, got different uses. It is good to have a look at some of the properties, meaning, and powers of the kind of stone we are discussing. The stone can heal stress. Due to its nice way of outlook, the stone can make someone happy. It is good to be stress-free. People who are free of stress are working in the best ways possible to bring out maximum output. Stress can affect the body negatively s it will strain the way we perceive issues. It is, therefore good that we should find a way of…
Conflict of interest Conflict of Interest refers to a situation whereby there is an individual who has competing loyalties or interests to more than one organization or person because of the responsibilities and duties they have. It occurs when there is a compromise of objectivity or judgement (Trevino and Nelson, 2010). There are four dimensions of conflict of interest, and they include: Overt bribes and kickbacks-Overt bribes refer to the receiving or giving of anything valuable to influence the behaviour, actions and attitudes of another person in a corrupt manner. Kickback is a form of bribe incrementally paid by the contractor in the process of being paid. Anything considered being kickback or bribe is a conflict of interest regardless of whether it is in the form of the valuable thing or money offered for the exchange of specific services, products or even influence (Trevino and Nelson, 2010). Subtle bribes-Bribes can also include entertainment and gifts. Some organizations have prohibited gifts even those of nominal value, for example, pens and notepads. Reciprocity applies where you have to do to something good…
Comparison between Socrates and Confucius Philosophers in the past were discriminated against and were not allowed to express themselves. However, some philosophers were courageous enough to speak out. Some suffered terribly and lost their lives. However, philosophers such as Socrates were ambitious, and they play a significant role up to date in comparison. This paper will compare the experiences of Socrates and Confucious, as shown below. Both Socrates and Confucious had a good life. A life full of courage and helped those in need. They were hardworking and wanted the best from life. Confucius was a teacher and strived hard to achieve his goals. A clear indication of hard work and love of the society when Sophists charged a lot of money in coaching students, Socrates didn’t cost anything. The lives of the sophists were egocentric, unlike Socrates and Confucius. They educated society, and their wisdom was depicted. They were guided by principles and had a significant impact on the future. Going by the word philosophy, which means knowledge, they had wisdom which was based on reasoning and critical thinking. It…
Comparison of Two Sonnets William Shakespeare’s Sonnets are a collection of poems that talk about different aspects of human nature and relationship. The following paper will correctly compare and contrast sonnet LXIX and sonnet 18. Both sonnets are premised love that is written by the use of metaphoric language and a lot of sensory imagery to convey the viewpoints of Shakespeare. During Shakespeare’s time, metaphoric love poems were so common. In the two poems, it is apparent that Shakespeare describes the beauty of his lovers by likening them to the beauty of nature. He exaggerates his metaphors by ironically comparing the beauty of these lovers to the value of nature. For instance, in LXIX, Shakespeare mentions that without the light his lover carries in her hand, others would not be able to see. Shakespeare, in Sonnet 18, uses the metaphor of the season to describe the everlasting beauty of his lover. He mentions in the poem that though the days of summer will eventually come to an end, the beauty of his lover shall remain. At the same time in…
American’s perception of Deportation Deportation is the process of forcing someone to leave an individual country since he or she has no legal rights to stay in the country or if the person lacks valid and legal nationality documents. Latinos, these are Latin individuals with American decency. Deportation of Latinos has become a very alarming issue in the United States of America. Latinos have been immigrating to America looking for good healthcare measures, good education system, good business markets and also places of residence (Geschwender 231). However, the American’s perception of the issue has been very harsh and unwelcome. America argues that the children who will be born in America will acquire American citizenship by birth. They fear that these will lead to high population. The Latinos are suffering psychologically, emotionally and physically since they are subjected to torture and a lot of suffering (Kanstrom 231). America does not consider them as any other human beings. Instead, they mistreat them in an unlawful manner. Different bodies have been established to implement the deportation process. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS)…
Sonny’s blue review In the book, Sonny’s blue the writer tries to pass message to the readers, however it employs utilization of literature devices. Making it easy for the group of audience to appreciate and comprehend the message. In the novel, the author utilizes imagery, symbolism and allegory while passing his message. The Jazz music is symbolizing diverse things among characters in this story. The narrator thoroughly knows nothing about jazz. argument about the power, meaning, and structure of a piece of literature As you have already learned, the goal of an essay about literature is to offer readers an argument about the power, meaning, and structure of a piece of literature. Philoctetes Essay 2, on Philoctetes, which students attending last night have already begun, will be in response to the prompt-question that I wrote on the board last: IS the ″deus ex machina″ at the end of Sophocles′ Philoctetes consistent with the play up to that point? That is, do we A) judge this move (the deus ex machina–god from the machine) as a cheap, ″god-saves-the-day″ device used to force a happy ending (and conformity to the Greek mythology) upon the play, OR have we, B) as the three articles or essays in the 4/27 handout have argued (in their different ways), been PREPARED, somehow, in the events, acts and emotions leading up to that moment, for Heracles′ ″miraculous″ appearance and Philoctetes′ (seemingly sudden) change of mind? [That is the basic prompt for the paper; below is HOW you are to go about responding to the prompt and writing the paper:] [unique_solution]1. Represent (with accuracy but in summary–probably in 2-3 paragraphs) some version of the (B) argument as argued by one, or two, or all three of the authors in the…
