The Life Span of a Fact The Life Span of a Fact espouses a detailed and extensive discussion between D’ Agata and His fact-checker –Fingal that delves into the thin line that exists between accuracy and truth in literacy and whether it is appropriate for an author or writer to substitute the two in literary nonfiction. In a conversation that began in 2005 following the suicide of a teenager in Las Vegas, D’Agata’ s essay presented to the Harper’s magazine was rejected because it had inconsistencies in the presentation of facts. However, the Believer magazine tasked an intern to fact check the essay written to determine what was true and false and from that engagement between D’Agata and Fingal, the original essay and annotations of the fact-checker are presented as part of the book. The book centers on the relationship between truth and literature, especially given the fact that some essayists contend that nonfiction characterization and storyline should be based on a gray area between poetry and prose and not necessarily on truth. The significant assertion by the book is…
Grant proposal Most organizations support projects that have no conflict with their mission and values. My project is aimed at helping the community and contributing to the field of healthcare. Based on my analysis, My project fits the criteria for potential funding. To win a grant, the funder must be convinced that they are funding the right project. This means that the project done must prove to be essential, vital, and essential to the community. I think the project will bring change to the healthcare sector and will have convincing power to the funders and meets the criteria for potential funding. The problem statement is clearly explaining the benefit of the project and how the solution is to be implemented, and this might make a difference in other projects. The funders want an assurance that the project has the capacity to meet all the deliverables through execution while meeting all legal, quality, and safety obligations. My project has tangible results, which is a requirement for potential funding. Writing a grant proposal requires defined fundraising goals, cost estimation, and a timeline…
Does Lust Prejudice from first Impressions Ruin the Characters Chances of Love? Introduction It is somewhat accepted wisdom that virtually every normal man, whether blessed with economic fortunes or not, at some point in life, must be in search of a woman for a wife. The social configuration in our societies gets made in a way that men who are economically stable or who are, to a greater extent making good fortunes, get preferred as suitable individuals to marry someone’s daughter. Whether, at first, it is love, or not, that is not a carefully thought social, moral discourse. With all fairness, the only valid argument is that every parent will want his or her daughter to be happily married to a man who can guarantee her good life. The tragedy, however, is that societies get skewed in defining how and what ought to be a happy marriage. In this case, in most cultures, happy marriage is mainly described in economic spheres, the innate human heart-the fountains of love get given a wide berth. In this paper, I will present a…

Analysis of the relationship between eco imagination and eco-philosophy. Literature has been used as a lens to magnify issues within the society and environment at large. Literary writers such as Kamau Brathwaite and Derek Walcott use poetry to symbolize the effects left behind by colonialism. Walcott alludes to the tourism taking place as a form of oppression that leads to environmental degradation. Colonialists, through capitalism, want to erect tourist attractions such as malls that are a modern way of separating them from what is rightfully their own, their land, roots, and home. Val Plumwood’s androcentrism and anthropocentrism expose the masculinity within the environment with a more significant detailed look into feminist theories that lay focus on the plight of all women and how androcentrism not only affects them but the environment as well. Through both excellent positionings of this literature, the critique of ecocriticism and evaluation of other centrism can emphasize the importance and foundation of eco-philosophy. Synoptic accounts of text. Val Plumwood’s critique of androcentrism and anthropocentrism only asserts the foundations of ecofeminism, which stems from the comprehension that…
Analyzing the Themes of Power and Authority from King Lear Power and authority are addictive, and when a person loses hold of them, adapting to the ordinary environment becomes hard. William Shakespeare, in his play, King Lear, demonstrates how power and authority can blind a person to make thoughtless decisions. In the tragedy, King Lear decides to hand over leadership powers to his daughters. However, he demands that the daughters confess their love for him. When Lear notices that Cordelia, whom he also loves the most, dos do not reciprocate the same in words, he rushes to divide the power between Goneril and Regan. Therefore, the rushed decision by Lear when handing powers and authority shows that emotions can cause a person to make irrational decisions. When King Lear decides to hand powers, he disregards the right procedure and follows emotions. He coerces the daughters to confess their love for him in order to get a share of his power, which is a misuse of his powers. Goneril and Regan lie to their father that they love him a…
Centered and Capitalized Level 1 Heading: Bold, Flush Left, Capitalized American Romanticism was a literary, artistic and intellectual movement that began in Europe in eighteenth century. It was at a peak between 1800 to 1840 and declined towards the rise of realism. Some great writers who wrote during the American romantic period include Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Emily Dickinson, Henry David Thoreau, and Walt Whitman. American Romantic literature was characterized by imagination, individuality, supernatural element, nature as a source of wisdom, spirituality viewing man as a hero, emotions, among other attributes. Writers during this period acknowledged that good literature should have a heart but not rules. “The Devil and Tom Walker” and “Thanatopsis” contain some of the elements mentioned above. Imagination has used in “The Devil and Tom Walker”. The industrial revolution brought much progress, but it negatively affected people, and they wanted to escape. The writers, therefore, used escapism as a tool of bringing forth imagination. Escapism is where the mind allows an individual to move from a harsh environment to a better one. The writers develop imagery for these…
Children’s literature Introduction Children’s literature comprises of poems, books, and plays meant for children. Due to the oral tradition of the children’s literature, it is challenging to have the origin traced to the first story of children. Many cultures viewed a child as a person already on its way to adulthood; thus, they did not perceive childhood as its own sacred time to be valued for the experience it brought. But, the cultures viewed childhood to be a preparation period. In the mid-19th century, the stories of children mainly consisted of moral principles perspectives. During the genre golden age, the children’s literature moved into the entertainment realm for all ages. Since the times of Greek myths and European fairy tools, notions of purity, justice, or what is “appropriate” have significantly changed in various ways (Konner, 2016). The ancient Greek myths notions of justice have gone through a development process from a culture of shame to guilt culture. However, challenges faced the traditional interpretation where it got argued that different writers in the various genres g only concerned in the times…
