How did the physical geography of London change in the two centuries after the Great Fire? The Great Fire of London happened during the reign of Charles I, in the early 1600s. It began in a bakery in Pudding Lane and within three days had levelled 70% of everything north of the River Thames. The great fire of London changed the physical geography of London forever. It proved to be a source of the new dawn of the city. Buildings were reshaped, new structures came into existence. Construction work started all over the city. London at the time was a mess having not ever been planned; evolving from the ancient Roman city through mediaeval times to a slum with houses encroached and narrow streets presenting a significant fire risk. The aftermath of the fire saw the planned building of a new London with broad, well laid out streets pretty much as they are now. In 1666 there was an outbreak of the plague, and the fire killed many of the black rats carrying the disease, so there was never another…

Explain the Youth Firearms Violence Initiative In recent times leading up to the year 1995, the rate of juveniles involved in crime and firearm violence was increasing. The exposure led to killings and the use of weapons to commit robberies with violence and other crimes (Dunworth, 2000). Further, these juveniles were committing these homicides themselves. Therefore, the Department of Justice developed a framework aimed at collaborating with local communities in different states to address this trend and reduce the number of crimes committed by juveniles with weapons. The depart through its Community Oriented Policing Service (COPS) established the Youth Firearm Violence Initiative (YFVI) to combat the ever-increasing instances of juvenile firearm violence. Under this plan, the program offered up to one million dollars to ten cities that were participating in running interventions that used a community policing approach to reduce the number of violent firearms crimes executed by juveniles. The program was also designed to address gang-associated and drug-related crimes and incidences. The program reckoned that up to 1995, the rate of violent crimes carried out by young people had…
Hundreds Fired and Millions Lost in Hospital Benefits Fraud This article is about the massive fraud and benefits scheme at Baycrest Hospital in Toronto. What is a Web Browser (and What Happened to WhatBrowser.org) After a few unsuccessful attempts, Jason Toff, a Programming Manager at Google, finally gave up on trying to explain to his mother what a web browser was. In 2009, Toff created WhatBrowser.org, a website that provided more information about web browsers for both tech and non-tech users. WhatBrowser.org is no longer available, and we took some time to find out what happened to the website. The web browser is perhaps one of the most important software no one thinks about. We simply click on the browser icon, and we are instantly transported into the world wide web. But browsers have come a long way ever since they represented a window into the internet or a central starting point to a web experience. Fast forward three decades and many of the proprietary technologies and features that enabled interactive user experiences have given way to newer features and capabilities that deliver great online experiences. People like browsers even more because they now also provide a broader range of functionalities such as web…
Why cybersecurity is important today. Cybersecurity involves everything to do with protecting sensitive data, industry information systems: data, governmental, among others that are important and require security. The risk of cybersecurity is increasing each day. It is highly attributed to the rise in global connectivity and the high usage of cloud services. Almost every business today has access to cloud services in which they store their data. Configuration settings for this data are very sensitive and require much attention. Poor configuration of these settings poses an even higher greater risk to these cybersecurity threats. A data breach is something that every company should be careful about because it is very prevalent, especially in modern times. In the olden days, people relied much on antivirus software and firewalls. This is a technology that has been long gone. These threats come from any side of the organization. It is becoming harder for business managers to rely on cybersecurity professionals to do the work for them. Businesses should look into educating their staff about these risks and any other threats that may be…
What you need to know about worker’s compensation in Charlotte NC Long before the industrial revolution, most workers did not get compensation if they got injured while executing their duties. They were not lucky enough to get benefit from their employers; therefore, no guarantee to medical care. The employers would find a replacement, and that was all. Later on, federal and state laws chipped in to protect the employees. The worker’s compensation process is quite simple. You sustain injuries or may develop an occupational sickness, file a claim, and get the benefits until you resume to work. Moreover, an employee cannot sue their employer on all work-related injuries but instead its a tradeoff. It is essential to seek legal advice from an attorney once injured. Do all the injuries qualify for the benefit? Well, injuries may be caused by accidents, long term exposure to toxic chemicals, slips, trips and falls, shocks and electrocution, fires and explosions, violent acts by colleagues, customers etc. The injuries do not have to be as a result of immediate, one- time accident…
